Restless night, anyone else?

I catnapped on and off in the evening and am now wide awake. Had toast and marmite and my earbuds are amusing me as they know exactly where I am in the house and announce they're turning themselves off in the bathroom and announce they're back on if I'm stepping on one particular step coming down the stairs.

Very precise. About to put a film on and only have hospital in the afternoon tomorrow.

Anyone else up and alert? I tend to flick in and out of films.

Yes me, thanks to rowdy holiday makers swimming in their pool at 3am . Live in a Spanish beach town which is heaving with tourists....roll on September

CalicoPusscat · 13/08/2024 02:53

Oh no 😆

I'd like to visit Sitges (outside season)

Yep wide awake. Menopause and screaming heartburn keeping me up tonight. Took some tablets, waiting for them to work.

johann12 · 13/08/2024 03:33

Yeah, feeling a bit jittery and insomnia so waiting for a sleeping pill to kick in

johann12 · 13/08/2024 03:34

I get that hearburn @Redannie118 I use pink Gaviscon

onwardandupwards · 13/08/2024 03:37

I'm up because my 4 year old ds has decided no sleep is happening tonight, and I need to get up by 5.30am to pop up decorations ect for my dd birthday before she wakes up at around 6. No doubt my mum will tell me how worn out and tired I look tomorrow! Hope everyone gets some sleep x

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 13/08/2024 03:37

Jet lag screwing me over over here, so now wide awake and waiting for my 5:30 alarm for work.
Having a nosy at my finances and working out what shopping I need to do this week too. :)

LynnImnotdrivingaminimetro · 13/08/2024 03:37

Checking in! Poorly dog he’s really suffering tonight. Pray he can get some rest and feel better tomorrow xxx

amoreoamicizia · 13/08/2024 03:38

Same 🙋‍♀️

Went to the gym, showered and promptly fell asleep earlier. Now wide awake.

Too much on my mind, I'm afraid. A friend of a friend died today and it's affected me even though I didn't know them.

Also a man has treated me like rubbish. So bad that I could probably make a thread about it and it would be trending all day! I used to have my doubts about some of the tales you read on here but now I've just lived one and it really, really sucks 😔

amoreoamicizia · 13/08/2024 03:41

Any access to melatonin, @ZeroFucksGivenToday ? I find it really helps but I do take slower dose than the pills typically come in, I found out about using a lower dose on Reddit.

johann12 · 13/08/2024 03:44

I cuddled my son and my cats and told them I loved them waiting for the sleeping pill to work. I wish the night the nice nights like this could last longer, just cozziness. That'll be it kicking in now

Unfortunately not. It's not something I'd considered before as I've never had quite this time difference. We got back Sunday morning so it's slowly getting better.

amoreoamicizia · 13/08/2024 03:49
  • a smaller dose, that should be.

Oh no, well maybe something for next time. It's over the counter in many countries, although having taken it I can understand the reasons for controlling it. I couldn't drive safely after taking it, because it lingers in my system - this effect varies from person to person.

amoreoamicizia · 13/08/2024 03:50

I used to travel a.lot (sigh). One thing they used to say is adjust your meals to the new time right from the moment you arrive.

MissingMoominMamma · 13/08/2024 03:55

I have stomach ache, and my tongue is a bit swollen, so it’s hurting against my back teeth. I also have earache.

I generally sleep like a log, so this is frustrating.

Emily1583 · 13/08/2024 04:30

Yep wide awake. Too hot. Houses in this country are simply not designed for this sort of weather.

spanieleyes · 13/08/2024 04:33

Yes, me too. I generally sleep poorly anyway but, due to an ongoing medical issue, I'm up and down three or four times a night to the loo! I used to be able to go back to bed but now get too restless and have had to get up. Mumsnet is not helping!

TwigTheWonderKid · 13/08/2024 05:50

Total wipeout sleep wise thanks to steroids from chemo. Spent most of night cuddling and chatting to the cat.

Luckily I am not expected to do anything today, though experience tells me despite having absolutely no sleep the steroids will keep me going anyway. Huge sympathy to anyone who has to go to work or look after children today.

Jesusmaryjosephandtheweedon · 13/08/2024 05:55

Got into bed around midnight, should be exhausted. Was still staring at the ceiling at 2am. Eventually dozed off. 7yo arrives in crying at 4.30, she had a nightmare. Now I cant go back to sleep. I have to mind 3 kids today and try pack for a weeks camping. FML.

Jesusmaryjosephandtheweedon · 13/08/2024 05:57

So sorry to hear that @TwigTheWonderKid

Barongreenback87 · 13/08/2024 06:06

Spending the week at a friend's house and sharing a room with her. She snores so very loudly that I've been awake since 3am every single night. I'm drained

rockingbird · 13/08/2024 06:37

I've been awake since 4am tossing and turning 🤯 I'm so hot I'm now sitting in the garden with my morning coffee. This has become a regular occurrence with the menopause! I'm heading into London today for a big meeting - which I'm presenting .. I'm yet to decide what I'm wearing and the train journey will be gruelling in this heat. I'll have mum guilt all day long as I'm leaving the boys (teens) in bed at the liberty of my exH who's going to be at my house keeping and eye - doing nothing with them! I suspect the meeting will ruffle some feathers but I've learnt to be stoic over the years.

CalicoPusscat · 13/08/2024 06:51

Best to those struggling.

I couldn't concentrate on the film very much so read the news and listened to music. Just had breakfast with a nice coffee, I can have a catnap 🐈 before hospital later
