I do have another thread on this but I've been on antibiotics since Thursday and it's just getting worse.

It's still hot and new puss filled blisters are appearing.

Shouldn't the antibiotics have kicked in by now?

It's so sore and embarrassing

How’s the hand looking tonight @PIPpityDoodah ? Hopefully the incident today passed without causing too much aggravation to the skin?

It's not too bad, I don't think there was too much contact but there's definitely spots come up, though that could have been the handshake I just grabbed to clean it quick.

The big one near my finger has been there days.

Throughly pissed off. Just had the dermatology appointment I've waited a month for and she said she thinks it's sweets disease?

So I googled it when I got out.
Tou need a rash, fever, sore red eyes...all these things I didn't have and the rashes on Google look nothing like mine!

She given me another steroid cream and I didn't even know what it is, I need to pick it up Monday I guess.

I should have taken someone with me because I'm not good at advocating for myself/speaking up.

I still think it's pustular psoriasis.

I'll have to see if the cream clears it up and if not I'm going to ask for another appointment and voice my opinion

Was there a ‘come back if this cream is useless’ option?

Yes she gave me a number to ring if I needed another appointment so it shouldn't be such a long wait.

@PIPpityDoodah So frustrating, I feel your pain.

DD (who is always rash-y and gets unusual stuff) started having a weird rash-almost like boils on her hands that you could literally see happening in front of your eyes.

The GP told her to go to A&E. I took her but wasn't allowed to go in with her. She waited for something like 6 hours for a Dr to come in, look at it and say "that is really weird-I have no idea what it is" and that was the end of the consultation!!!!

No sheep 🤣
Not been sweaty.

Started the steroid cream on it again.

Been using gloves for all cleaning

Ans absolutely don't wipe my mouth with my hand (??)

But what do you actually wash your hands with?

Good luck!

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 07/11/2024 13:50

Finally a proper steroid cream!

Its one of the strongest so should work 🤞

It will dry your skin out like crazy though so you'll need to moisturise although I'm sure they've warned you about that

It's clearing it up but more spots just keep appearing slightly further out. Very frustrating!

Are you doing the whole ‘treating the organ’ thing, as in, looking after all your skin? Avoiding irritants, using gentle products etc?

Mespher · 08/12/2024 12:50

Oh no, if it is pompolyx though it may be the other thing you mentioned, sufferers do often get it on the feet as well, though when I did get it on my feet years ago it was in the summer so probably brought on by the heat.

Ginkypig · 08/12/2024 13:17

Oh I’m sorry, I was hoping you were going to update with a positive outcome.

I’m on steroid ointment on both my face and 😳 ahem a more intimate area at the moment.

one of my cheeks is swollen and red, I think because of the steroid ointment.

the one positive is the downstairs area has reduced in the itching now which was Relentless and unbearable so I’m hoping that the ointment is at least partly working.

it’s pretty miserable isn’t it. It’s not just the symptoms or the fact that treatment is difficult and isn’t nice to use but it’s the weeks and months of it just not settling!

I mean I have severe depression and am going through a really rough time ATM with sick family members and kids going through really serious things so TBH no.
If I brush my teeth I feel like I've achieved something.

What do you mean by 'prosucts'?
If you mean laundry powder etc, I get the cheapest thing available.

I do always wear gloves now when I use any cleaning products.

I'm sorry you're going through similar.

Yes it's the fact it's 99% clears up and I think it's ended and then I wake up with more spots.

It's incredibly frustrating.

The steroid cream seems to keep it at bay and stop developing into the zombie hand I had in summer but it just won't fuck off!

I am sorry. That’s a lot to cope with. And I’ve been there, I do get it. It’s awful taking on yet another thing. And stress is likely to make it worse, too. 😏 Feel free to ignore what I’ve written below. If you have capacity though, it may be worth a look. Or you might think it’s hippy nonsense. I used to.

Products- anything you buy and use for anything. Shampoo, soap, moisturiser.

The idea is that something that’s irritating, let’s say your legs, could give you itchy skin on your tummy.

So you try and use the minimum stuff possible. Usually the GP gives you a big pot of dermol cream that you use for cleaning yourself. You use it to wash your hands, to shower, everything. You shower as little as you can. So use dermol under your arms, in your groin, on your hands and face, and then wash it off. It’s weird, washing with a cream, but it works. It dissolves any muck on the skin and lets it rinse off, while keeping your skin moisturised.

Soap and shampoo are designed to strip grease. Grease is what protects your skin. You could try washing your hair with an egg instead of shampoo. Conditioner is usually gentler, you could use that instead occasionally.

You are Stuck with using the washing powder you can afford but- try using less.
If you wash your clothes separately from everyone else’s, you could try without adding soap powder. There’s often enough residue in the machine to do a load- assuming you don’t get particularly grubby. I work from home and don’t have snotty children so my clothes don’t get very grubby.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 09/12/2024 23:21

It's not going to fuck off just like that.

The good news is that you now have a super strong topical steroid cream that you can use at the first sign of the spots appearing which will stop the spread into crusty horribleness.

This will possibly break out on your hands and feet for the next couple of years but you can treat it quickly.

Just keep applying the steroid cream to the problem areas, keep your skin really well moisturised and avoid harsh chemicals.

PIPpityDoodah · 10/12/2024 10:18

Spoke to a much more helpful Dr this morning. No diagnosis but been referred to secondary clinic as it is recurrent and persistent.
Said to keep using the steroid cream religiously, whether it appears to clear up or not
Also prescribed a better cream for washing my hands and moisturising.

Has recommended the secondary clinic give me light therapy for the hand and also an oral medication that will fast track the rate my skin regenerates, hopefully kicking off the eczema as it can't match the turnover rate of the skin cells??

But those will be a few months away.

OP posts:
PIPpityDoodah · 10/12/2024 10:20

Am wondering if I can do the light therapy thing at home? Or if it's more specialised?
