I do have another thread on this but I've been on antibiotics since Thursday and it's just getting worse.

It's still hot and new puss filled blisters are appearing.

Shouldn't the antibiotics have kicked in by now?

It's so sore and embarrassing

The GP did mention that and there is a history of diabetes in the family but eberytime I've used my dad's machine to check my blood sugar they've been perfect.

It might be worth getting a blood test anyway

I've had a lot of blood tests in the last few years, wouldn't it have been picked up? Or is it a different type?

I think it might be a different kind, like a glucose specific. I've followed your thread a long time and just think it wouldn't hurt to definitely eliminate it

I had a similar, very prolonged outbreak on my hands and feet which went on for months. Clobetasol never quite seemed to clear it and it was so painful. Eventually got on top of it when I was prescribed a combination of oral antibiotics, anti fungal cream (miconazole version not ketaconazole) and a different steroid cream (as I'd developed a sensitivity to clobetasol and betnovate so using them was actually making the situation worse). I also used emollient in place of soap for all hand washing and showering for a few months. My hands and feet have now been clear for a full year

I feel like it's never going to clear up and this is just my life now 😥

It does sound autoimmune, I managed to get ringworm on top of my last autoimmune flare so several things could be going on at once.

The safest thing for me to moisturise with is organic cold pressed virgin coconut oil from Tesco or Amazon.

It has natural anti microbial properties.

I also avoid all chemical products beyond Aveda hair care and a tiny amount of fairy liquid as an all purpose cleaner.
So frustrating for you.

BusterGonad · 22/02/2025 03:45

With split fingers I usually cover the split with vaseline, then wrap it with the corner of a bag (sandwich bag etc) then place it over the end of the finger and seal it with a plaster. This keeps it moist and prevents more cracks and provides a barrier to what ever irritated it. Keep it on for as long as possible and hopefully it'll have started healing. I sympathise as I would forever get skin sores and cracked thumbs.

PIPpityDoodah · 09/03/2025 13:29

In a lot of pain right now.

Just don't know how to handle it. The steroid cream is just drying my hand out. Moisturisers aren't helping.

Is stored down sides of my fingers. Onto my wrist and palm.

Just so fed up

Is there anything on the horizon, diagnosis or testing wise? I know people with severe eczema wet wrap- cream and bandages I think.

I’m sorry you are struggling. Just checking, you definitely have stopped scratching at it, and are using antihistamines? They can take a while to kick in. DH starts a month before he needs to, and no longer struggles through hayfever season. He used to be a swollen snotty mess.

In this house they are known as 'magic bandages'.

OP

I have psoriasis and sometimes eczema too and the bandages are fantastic, soothing when they go on and really do help.

The ones my dermatologist prescribed were Viscopaste, you can buy them. You do need to put an ordinary bandage over them.

aurynne · 10/03/2025 06:29

I haven't read the whole thread, but that looks like shingles.

PIPpityDoodah · 10/03/2025 07:41

It's not shingles

I have an outpatient appointment due bit just waiting on it to come through. Secondary dermatology clinic? For persistent things?

Mine did last one or two years at it's worst, I can't remember exactly but it was a long time where it was blisters and peeling off, just kept coming back really bad but it did clear up, I don't know how it cleared, it just went and then afterwards I just got small outbreaks occasionally which cleared up quite quickly with no steroid cream just just unscented Norwegian formula hand cream, mine was Pompolyx though which yours may not be, I also got it on my feet though not as bad looking as my hands which at times were a dreadful state.

Now in my 60s and my hands are possibly more wrinkly than they might have been around some of the knuckles because I used a lot of steroid creams and the skin being such a state with peeling but I don't think it's particularly noticeable, they may be just wrinkly anyway, I have barely had it now for about 20 years probably.

Have you been for the diabetes test yet that several people have reccomended. I think it’s worth ruling that out

I've not had another appointment. Dermatology said to wait for the referal appointment and no clue s to how long that will take.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 10/03/2025 16:34

@PIPpityDoodah I'm pretty sure pharmacies can do the diabetes one. Lloyds used to do it, FoC.

PIPpityDoodah · 21/03/2025 13:55

My hands been really sore and I've just noticed a little bit of puss under the skin.

Thats how the massive breakput started.

I honestly cannot cope with another huge, puss filled breakout.

I dont know what to do. I can't see GP till monday

Should i flush out the puss so it does not spread??

Hey I’m sorry if someone has already said this, but it looks similar to granuloma annulare…?

ZZGirl · 22/03/2025 12:09

I really think you need a diabetes test

PIPpityDoodah · 22/03/2025 14:14

Gosh It really does look like that.

Hmm. It says diabetes or thyroid.

I am classed as having subclinical hypothyroidism but unmedicated.

PIPpityDoodah · 06/04/2025 11:30

Another Dr has said pustular psoriasis. Still waiting for secondary dermatology appointment

Its spread a lot more now. Up fingers and down arms.

Also on fingers of my other hand.
