I do have another thread on this but I've been on antibiotics since Thursday and it's just getting worse.

It's still hot and new puss filled blisters are appearing.

Shouldn't the antibiotics have kicked in by now?

It's so sore and embarrassing

@Unknownsecret yeah I always thought that but the doctor was very "we deal with thyroid, it doesn't need a referral"

I was meant to go to dermatology, ended up at immunology who must have been bored as they said one of my health issues was interesting and decided to do a load of bloods. Was pretty shocked when it came back with hashimotos! My Nan and Mum both had thyroid issues so I sort of expected it

PIPpityDoodah · 03/09/2024 10:20

GP unexpectedly sent a text this morning asking for an update on hand so I sent photos and explained the flare up and he's referred me to dermatology

About time , hope you don’t have to wait long @PIPpityDoodah

Unknownsecret · 03/09/2024 16:15

That’s great news @PIPpityDoodah! At least there they’ll also look into autoimmune conditions etc.

HelenWheels · 03/09/2024 20:17

good to hear @PIPpityDoodah

Cornettoninja · 04/09/2024 09:27

Great @PIPpityDoodah. I hope you don’t have to wait too long.

For anyone slightly invested in this saga.

It cleared up again only to flare up again.

I have an appointment 25th October with Dermatology.
On referral Dr has described it as 'pustular pompholyx '

The last fare up was just raised and nasty but not pustules.

It looks like this one might get pustular-y again.

Back with the steroid cream and feeling quite annoyed

Ah @PIPpityDoodah I hope you get cleared up in the end and get to the bottom of everything.

Cornettoninja · 12/09/2024 12:21

I’m not surprised you’re exasperated at this point. Hang in there but prepare yourself that skin conditions often require a lot of trial and error.

Arconialiving · 12/09/2024 23:40

Oh goodness Op, this is horrendous for you! Hope you get sorted soon!

Bless you, I have that type of eczema and it's awful. Sending you a big hug ❤️

PIPpityDoodah · 01/10/2024 12:55

Getting worse again :(

Only one very small yellow spot so far. I'm praying it doesn't break out as bad as last time

It's so itchy and I just don't know what to put on it.

The steroid cream seems to make it angry now.

And I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be using it this long. I don't want to turn into Hulk Hogan

Poor you, this is really dragging on. What steroid cream are you on at the moment, did you have blood tests done and oral steroid tablets.

Fucibet
I had oral antibiotics
No blood tests but I had just had some(full panel) prior to the breakout and they were all normal.

I’m surprised by the thyroid conversation. I’m on 125/150mg Levo through the GP. Never seen anyone else.

Sorry about your skin, @PIPpityDoodah

MissMoneyFairy · 01/10/2024 15:31

Fucibet is very weak, can you go back and see if there's a stronger steroid cream, if its not working.

Agree

Dermovate is needed

PIPpityDoodah · 01/10/2024 16:03

That's odd as fucibet is classed as potent?

Floralnomad · 01/10/2024 19:54

I’d ask for some Protopic ointment @PIPpityDoodah if you’ve not tried it , cures everything IME .

Don't worry, the steroid cream is very unlikely to have any systemic effects on you - I've been using Betnovate Ointment for my allergic/irritant contact dermatitis (I suspect it's a mix of both, and though not patch tested, I think I'm sensitive to something very common that's hard to realistically avoid) for 10+ years and other then some thinned skin on my hands and a bit more visible veins (I'm very fair skinned anyway which makes that more obvious), I haven't noticed any other side effects other than steroid cream withdrawal if I stop using it suddenly for a while.

I'm sorry to read you're still suffering with your condition, they really need to figure out how to best manage it with you, it's just awful suffering from a condition like this on your hands as you well know 😥.

I have a dermatology appointment on 25th but seems ages away

I had something that looked very similar @PIPpityDoodah on the sole of my right foot, hundreds of tiny bumps like you have with the tiny dot in the middle, drove me absolutely mad, especially when I got a bit warmer e.g. under the duvet at night etc, my own GP though pompholyx but none of the presribed creams worked (I was given a fair few to try). Suffered for around a year or so. Nothing worked and I just was miserable, wanted to cut my foot off! Went to dermatologist who said - right back to basics - try you on antifungal tablets (didnt do a test on it or anything), I had a 3 month course and do you know what, it worked! Think they were terbinafine tablets. I had tried over the counter athletes foot creams as well as all the steroid, eczema, antibiotic creams so it obviously just needed treating from the inside and not the outside. I never knew that a fungal infection could present like that. Might be worth asking about. Think my consultation was about £125 and the private prescription about £20. Even now a couple years later im so grateful every night I get into bed that I dont have to endure it anymore.

Edited to add the tablets started to work within about 10 days.

PIPpityDoodah · 21/10/2024 12:45

I'm freaking hard.
I have my appointment in a few days and I've been making sure to wear gloves for all cleaning.

I've just got my spare pair of gloves from the bathroom and shoved my hand inside to realise it was wet, pulled my hand out and toilet cleaner had leaked into the glove.

Have scrubbed my hand 3 times and immediately put cream on but FFS I hope it doesn't break out badly again.

It's been up and down the last few weeks. The fucibet is keeping it at bay but if I don't apply it, it gets red and angry again

Are you thoroughly moisturising? It’s hard because you don’t want to get sweaty either.
