Def um bongo. The other biggies then were fizzy Vimto and Irn Bru

Um bongo was a tropical juice and not carbonated. Remember the over powering mango or passion fruit flavour

Um bongo was amazing and if I remember correctly it was a fantastic hang over cure if served very chilled.

Actually you can still buy it in Portugal, although they have stripped out the shit tonne of added sugar that was in the original but still tastes fab.

I even brought a 1 litre carton back a few years back!

Wow, I didn't think fizzy drinks were invented back then? 🤭

1767 it was first invented but not commercialised until 1786 by Schweppes …. So google tells me lol

According to chatgpt, The UK soft drink advertisement from the 1980s that featured a kangaroo was for Tango. The commercial showcased a kangaroo to promote Tango's fruit-flavored drinks, emphasizing the brand's quirky and fun image. The kangaroo was part of a campaign that played on the playful and bold nature of the drink. Tango ads from that era are remembered for their humor and distinctive style.

Ghosttofu99 · 12/08/2024 21:15

I would drink that if they brought it back

deviantfeline · 12/08/2024 21:37

The OP has found it. No it's not Tango Orangina or Babycham!

justlliloleme · 12/08/2024 21:42

as natural as a budgie in a billabong Bruce - was one of the things we said all the time at school so I remember this - we didn’t have much else to entertain us in the 80’s 😂

I loved lime Citrus Spring. Why don’t I remember this advert at all?!!!

Shodan · 12/08/2024 21:51

I have nothing useful to add, given that the OP has identified the mystery drink, but because I now have an annoying ear worm, you can share it:

Pschitt orange?

Probably not as it's French and AFAIK they don't habe kangaroos. But who can resist a drink called Pschitt.

😂😂

No, it was Citrus Spring - someone already identified it!

ImikSiMik · 12/08/2024 22:38

I loved Orangina in the bulb shaped bottle.

Puffalicious · 12/08/2024 23:38

God, takes me back. Circa 1988 (age 17) best mate & I would go to the union bar at uni & order a bottle of the very cheap white wine & 2 cans of Citrus Spring (lime) between us. Made the wine more palatable! Delish!😅

I particularly remember the advert as I would ask for one of these drinks at the pub then boing around pretending I was one of the kangaroos....yes I was a nightmare child
