Where do "youngsters" 😂 get suits from that are cheap please.
She needs one for 6th form and job interviews.

I had a look at our go to, h and m and it's very expensive or doesn't look classically suit like?

Where should we be looking please.

M&S has some smart ones.

But does she really need a suit? She's at least five years away from graduate jobs and most typical teen jobs won't require a suit. Probably better served buying smart separates she can mix and match.

MyCatHatesSandals · 09/08/2024 10:31

I'd ask for this to be moved to the Style & beauty section for more responses.

rbe78 · 09/08/2024 10:32

Next? But suits are not usual 'business wear' for women any more. Does her sixth form dress code specify a suit? Otherwise I would look at dresses and seperates.

Next

LadyDanburysHat · 09/08/2024 10:32

How about Next. They always used to have a good range of affordable suits and they are usually machine washable.

Seeline · 09/08/2024 10:33

Next - my DD got her 6th form suits there. Jacket with matching skirt and trousers.

Beth216 · 09/08/2024 10:36

DS got his from M&S, he tried other places but none looked as good as the M&S one. It wasn't particularly cheap though.

RoseandVioletCreams · 09/08/2024 10:56

Brilliant and is this next on line?

Primark

DelurkingAJ · 09/08/2024 10:58

Do you have any friends who used to work in a corporate environment but who dresses down post COVID? I know that I have a range of suits etc that I’m probably never going to wear again and if a friend’s DD needed one they’d be welcome to browse mine!

Moss Bros

JMSA · 09/08/2024 10:59

Vinted (unless in a mega rush).

ATribeCalledQuestion · 09/08/2024 10:59

Any charity shops near you? DS needed a suit for prom and I got one for a fiver in a local charity shop

Brilliant and is this next on line?

I wouldnt buy a suit before trying different options on in the shop.

Do you live somewhere that doesn't have Next or M &S? I'm surprised you'd think of H &M first for smart clithes

RoseandVioletCreams · 09/08/2024 11:03

@DreamW3aver. Thanks.

I have no idea idea where to look hence the thread. We don't have a next near us and the last time I went in one they didn't seem to have teen clothes anyway m

I’d guess your DD won’t now grow much so I’d be tempted (if you can afford it) to buy her an adult suit. The suit I wore to university interviews (when such thing existed!) was the same suit I wore for graduate job interviews and then probably about weekly for the next decade or so at work.

Summertimer · 09/08/2024 11:05

Another vote for Next. They sell same colours in each separate item and in different styles and fits. DC has 2 suits bought 2 years ago and has been able to wear same jackets and get new trousers to match as he’s got taller. Not expensive and quality good

AuditAngel · 09/08/2024 11:08

I bought DD (17) a suit for a funeral in Next. Slim fitting trousers. She tried a few styles on to see what fitted best.

reallywhywouldyou · 09/08/2024 11:12

Matalan is also worth a look, they have a Sixth Form section.

BigDecisionWorthIt · 09/08/2024 11:49

BooHoo.

Especially if you hit the sales, a full suit can be around £40-50.

Dilbertian · 09/08/2024 11:57

Slaters.

Slightly more expensive than Next, but a better range, decent fitting service, and excellent tailoring service at no cost. All of mine, girls and boys, got suits from Slaters and had good use from them.

The girls wanted pockets like the boys, and although Slaters don't do women's suits, they were able to find appropriate men's suits and tailor them to fit perfectly. Because mid/late teen girls don't change shape as much as their brothers do, they got a lot more use out of the suits, so these were an excellent investment.

caringcarer · 09/08/2024 12:20

M&S or Next Have nice suits.

gingercat02 · 09/08/2024 12:21

We got DS one in ASDA dead cheap, but it looks like it. direct.asda.com/george/men/formalwear/D2M1G10C14,default,sc.html
Was for an interview practice day at school. Black lace-up shoes from Wyndsors. A white shirt and one of his dads ties. Job done for about £50

gingercat02 · 09/08/2024 12:22

Oops, realised DD not DS sorry!
