What stupid stuff do you waste money on?

For me it's candles, and clothes in Primark that I'll either never wear, or wear once and chuck in the charity bag. Or getting tipsy on a night out and ordering (and paying for) expensive shots for everyone. I often wonder how much money I'd have for my retirement if I didn't spend so much on crap. Anyone else do this?

Vinted.

I used to do what you do OP, spend of stuff from the pound stores, just things like cute decos, pretty glass tea light holders, sparkly sequined cushion covers, whatever I fancied, just fad things that looked cute and fun.
I don't do that anymore, now I don't like to shop at all, not even for food, everything is too expensive. I still look in the charity shops sometime, cos we all need stuff to wear, but even there, prices are up, donations are down.

Energy bills. £180 a month🙄

JMAngel1 · 25/10/2024 20:14

Oh god sooo much!
Costa, makeup (lipsticks and under eye concealers looking for the HG), candles, perfume parlour perfume, clothes, beauty stuff for my DDs, books.
But they all make me so happy and I save at least £1K/month and life is too short!

Too good to go gets a mention here and we're always disappointed 😆
Just on the way to collect one now!

Books. So many books, I am terrible for it. I do read them all though, and it makes me very happy.
I get my nails done once a month (sometimes twice). Nothing mad, just a BIAB without extensions, so quite short. I love nail art though! The lady who does mine is incredible. I'm going tomorrow and getting something autumn-y.
Candles. I do like a good candle. Incense sticks too.
CHEESE. There's a cheese shop near us, and we drive over far too regularly. Feeling sad? Cheese. Tired? Cheese. Celebration? Cheese!
I'm also a sucker for buying the kids magazines or comics. I loved getting them as a kid myself, and I seem unable to go to the supermarket without picking some up for them.

Edit: Pens! How could I forget pens?! And notebooks. I have so many, and I love them! Also have a gorgeous set of quills that I'm a bit obsessed with.

Candles. I go to Aldi for a loaf and come out with candles.
