Apparently, plans to come to the majority Asian area of my diverse town tonight. We have the most beautiful Hindu temple. Our MP is a Muslim. I have to say, town Facebook is not having a bar if it, which is really nice to read.

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2024 07:55

Tommy nine names lived in this area at one point...perfectly happily.

Efacsen · 07/08/2024 08:02

Disappointed to see that we are on the 'list' for a protest at a legal centre - and counter-protest - this evening. Hope it's one of those with 5 'protesters' and 300 counter-protesters

Have been quite worried about my adult DC in London [one of whom is quite vulnerable] but they seem to be bearing up when we spoke last night

The 'list' is circulating on twitter but the writing is too small to read - but if you put 'protest +name of town' into twitter search the counter-protests all come up

@HannibalHeyes / I sent Colin to a few friends and family, one of whom is in the Met and will be policing London today. It made his evening.

countrygirl99 · 07/08/2024 08:08

@Piggywaspushed is that Ford End Road?

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2024 08:17

Yup.

PandoraSox · 07/08/2024 08:25

Fromage behaving like a serious, responsible MP and not like a schoolboy called out in wrong doing. I wonder if he'd cry in the dock? I hope we find out.

Nigel Farage, "We have to address issues like uncontrolled mass immigration, division of our communities"

Tom Swarbrick, "I don't know what any of that has got to do with Southport"
NF, "I'm looking for a long term solution"
TS, "I don't know what any of that has got to do with Southport"
NF, "Don't you?"
TS, "No"
NF, "You know what?"
TS, "The man charged was born in Cardiff"
NF, "Do you know what, you want to get out more"
TS, "Thank you"
NF,"You want to get out more"
TS, "The man charged was born in Cardiff"
NF, "Why didn't they tell people that? Maybe the riots would not have been that bad"
TS, "You jumped to conclusions"
NF, "They did not tell people"
TS, "You came to conclusions based on looking at Andrew Tate's twitter feed of what happened"
NF, "They did not tell people before those riots sparked, who he was and where they came from. If they had done that this would have been far less serious"
TS, "You could have said in those circumstances: we dont know yet who this person is so lets not jump to conclusions, let's wait and see and condemn how awful the attack was"
NF, "Or I could have said tell us the truth and maybe this will calm down, which is what I did"

PandoraSox · 07/08/2024 08:27

(Sorry if someone else has already posted, I lost track a bit).

Hope everyone stays safe today. A lot of the plans won't happen, I reckon. I think there will be a dwindling number of thugs willing to risk prison.

PickAChew · 07/08/2024 08:27

Thankfully Durham's gathering was just a few dozen troublemakers and the police were ready and waiting and dished out a few dozen dispersal orders and arrested a 15 year old who hadn't got the message that he needed to sod off and stop being a twat.

Some delightful soul went round in a van ramming shops in villages, last night. Most people on nextdoor were reassuringly horrified but some of that 8% were in evidence including some woman who must have thought herself quite enlightened, commenting that they should have left the convenience store alone because the owners are Hindu, not Muslim.

Rain showers threatening, today but DH has a meeting with a client, this morning, so I shall take DS2 for a walk to get him out of the way and hopefully tire him out for half an hour.

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2024 08:17

Yup.

I've been trying to find out details of any counter protest. Feel like I need to do something but don't want to risk going alone and accidentally ending up in the middle the wrong lot.

ForYouManImADoomBoy · 07/08/2024 08:31

i think id be more of a hindrance in person at any counter demo than do any good cos id need help with my disabilities but im continuing to do my part by bashing the fash online and making the big boys cry

Noticeable that he immediately goes to insult the interviewer rather than answer the question.

That's my fear too @countrygirl99.

In South London and no trouble so far. I do hope that there is little or no trouble today.

I have come off twitter for my sanity.

I wonder if he is secretly worried that he might either face charges or be disciplined by Parliament. Or both.

I don't want him to get away with it. Or Fox. But they probably will.

PandoraSox · 07/08/2024 08:35

Twitter is like walking into some far right hellscape @Cheguevarahamster

Reading between the lines of that exchange NF is basically saying if he wasn't British born these riots would be justified and that they should have confirmed he was because it would have prevented riots.

So yes, he's saying all this law and disorder would be justified if he wasn't British.

To me that's walking a tight line of inciting future hatred and riots if someone who isn't British commits a crime.

bombastix · 07/08/2024 08:52

I would like Tommy Robinson to have his citizenship revoked. He is a positive danger to this country and is a dual national. I don’t want him to be part of the UK. He is a risk to our national security.

Zonder · 07/08/2024 08:58

Is he dual British / Irish @bombastix ? I bet the Irish don't want him either.

what an odious man. He knew exactly what he was doing and what the consequences of his actions would be.

We should be holding MPs to a higher standard when it comes to misinformation. Why on earth would we accept an MP who gets his information from a man who is a known sex trafficker in another country.

Hope not Hate posted a list of counter protests i believe!

Efacsen · 07/08/2024 09:01

@Zonder born in Luton - British father/Irish mother

Yes he is. But look at what he has engineered in the UK. It would mean he could never return

bombastix · 07/08/2024 09:06

Btw I don’t think we have to let him back into the UK now anyway as he would be arrested on trying to enter on his Irish passport. But he is imo this kind of risk now.

I saw a map on BBC News this morning but I imagine they don't want to publicise it online for fear of idiots noting it and turning up.

Edited to say...Sorry! I didn't read your post properly, I see you said 'counter protests' but maybe not publicising it applies too

BustingBaoBun · 07/08/2024 09:11

Farage tries to make out he's speaking for the good of the country blah blah, but I thought he came across very uneasy in that LBC interview. He'll trip himself up eventually, it's just a matter of time.

As for Waxy Lemon, the Canarian Guardia are just waiting for the go-ahead to apprehend him.
