The "I won't stand for it" is what makes me laugh. How on earth is she not going to stand for it, what is she going to do?! Stick her tongue out? Have a meltdown on Twitter... oh hang on, she's just done that!

I honestly think she could've scraped up a couple of brownie points here, (not much admittedly, but still...) if she had laughed along with it, asked them to pull it up, and just carried on. Yes, she is humourless. And very embarrassing. Now everyone knows how much lettuces hurt her, they will do it even more cos it's funny.

Yea she'd have been better off asking if that was all that came with her salad 😂

She needs to learn to style it out - or this will get worse

For her---- Grin

itsgettingweird · 14/08/2024 21:08

Leaf poor Liz alone.

She's a gem Wink

😂😂😂😂

L1ttledrummergirl · 14/08/2024 21:22

A little gem?

bombastix · 14/08/2024 21:23

I give in. I have no more lettuce based puns in me! You win @itsgettingweird

PandoraSox · 14/08/2024 21:37

Poor Liz. Her career sunk like the Titanic hitting an iceberg.

Notonthestairs · 14/08/2024 21:44

Interesting blog post from The Secret Barrister

Lettuce pray for Liz, although she’s a complete butterhead

prettybird · 14/08/2024 22:26

I saw her whinge statement that "Far-left activists disrupted the event, which then had to be stopped for security reasons."

No, Miss Lettuce, it had to be stopped because you walked out in a huff HmmConfused

I actually (ShockBlushBlushBlush) had some sympathy with her initially as I felt it was a bit much but her over-reaction, added to (as dh reminded me) the pain that so many people continue to endure as a result of her very short time as PM has meant that I now think that LBD could have been even more hard hitting.

newnamethanks · 14/08/2024 22:48

And no, Miss Hissy, there wouldn't be the same reaction had far right activists done the same. Couldn't happen. They are notoriously touchy and sensitive and have absolutely no sense of humour. As demonstrated, thanks. Leaf it out.

That was an absolutely fascinating read, thank you for linking it

Thevelvelletes · 15/08/2024 06:30

The title reminded me of a great Northern soul record.
Keep on keeping on ...Nolan porter.

Thanks for this.

Hope you don't mind but I linked it in another thread where some people just can't understand (don't want to listen) to the fact their being caught red handed and appearing at magistrates within a day is normal.

So did I! It's a very useful link.

Notonthestairs · 15/08/2024 08:14

It's a pretty comprehensive take down isn't it Grin.

Notonthestairs · 15/08/2024 08:27

There are a significant amount of people who appear to be:-
passionate about fairness & justice but who also

  • have no interest in how the justice system operates and/or
  • no interest in legislation and court powers and/or
  • have taken no interest in ongoing issues within the justice system arising out of Austerity and poor management (court closures/maintenance of court estate/prison building/RASSO barristers etc etc).

It's a brilliant article.

I've also pointed out that is isn't unusual and my cloak police Fb proves that. There's always someone's mug shot charged, arrested, jailed or whatever for shoplifting, burglary or whatever.

People just don't seem to realise something happening daily locally isn't as big a news story as 1000's nationally at once who were all on the news during the crime!

Bob from down the road getting convicted for 3 counts of shoplifting worth £500 and going to jail for 6 months isn't national news!
