What twats. On a roundabout. The footage is hilarious!

Cheers in Blackpool as two men raise British and English flags on a roundabout shouting “England til I die” and “Take the island back”. Things here remain peaceful but tense

Judge Menary KC: “The people doing this weren’t exercising some right to freedom of expression, they were doing it to exploit the anguish of others... as an excuse for vandalism & intimidation... they're criminals... & decent people were left to clean up their mess.”

One arrest of a teen in Portsmouth last night during the anti immigration protest.

I'll say protests as although they did block the motorway as I'd suspected it was more standing in the road with that stance they have and glaring at the traffic than any riot. Also that slow wander into the road like a brain dead zombie pretending to be innocent to claim "I didn't do nothing" Police moved them on peacefully.

Labour need to do some urgent housing clean on Ricky Jones. A disgusting comment and possibly criminal. Vile

He’s been suspended, so looks like they’ll deal.

Sending wheelchair vibes your way! We were looking at a 3 year waiting list so we jumped the queue - DS has inheritance money from his late dad. We know how privileged we are.

DuncinToffee · 08/08/2024 13:56

The former Tory Party member and parliamentary candidate and now the interim leader of UKIP and Chief Operating Officer of Turning Point UK was shouting in a microphone in Aldershot last night Hmm

Great news on the wheelchair pointy. Hope ds is still managing to enjoy his holiday.

PandoraSox · 08/08/2024 14:10

The courts aren't messing around. The chap who got his arse bitten by a Very Good Dog has just got two years and two months.

I think Starmer has dealt with this well (no-one will ever be able to call him "wet" after this), but it was the ordinary decent people of England who finished the riots off last night.

Good that Labour suspended that councillor. He needs to be arrested to avoid another round of accusations of "two tier policing".

CassieMaddox · 08/08/2024 14:16

But I thought starmer was on holiday Hmm

Maybe he's chairing emergency meetings from his sunlounger

I've already come a cropper with no emoji and accidentally confused someone with sarcasm. Also some of the threads are awful - not sure why they are still going. At least the TR one finally went.

Starmer is to chair his third COBRA meeting today, Conservative Home is complaining about Sunak's silence.

Oh, I’m sure certain posters will continue saying Starmer is ‘like a rabbit in the headlights’, ‘not a leader’ or that his government is in disarray and he’ll be gone by the end of the week.
Honestly the self delusion is astounding.

The evidence to the contrary is quite startling. I was uncertain about Starmer before the election but voted Labour anyway. Seeing him now and his way of working I’m pleased with my decision. He doesn’t need to tell everyone what he’s doing all the time he’s just getting it done. I like that.

DrRiverSong · 08/08/2024 14:23

And fab news on the wheelchair @pointythings

I think people are actually worried he isn’t a weak leader. That is the undercurrent on the kvetching and morning. But these are people who probably voted for Johnson and Farage and many will like this comms first, action never approach.

i don’t think Keir is such a natural communicator but the Labour Party need to do narrative, deliver result, narrative, deliver result. That is hard to argue with. Making a lot of fatuous statements just gives Farage or the opposition things to grind on.

The opposition has said sod all, hasn't it?

And good to see COBR meetings are continuing. Starmer isn't dodging them (unlike Johnson)
I am pleased that he just gets on with the job, no pathetic speeches with bluster and soundbites. Just action.
The only criticism I keep hearing is his nasal voice. Firstly, I just don't hear a nasal voice, and secondly, if that's all they have to criticise, he is doing well. I am not sure Tories can get their heads round a proficient competent PM, it had been so long since they'd had one.

Sunak is in California - I'm not sure there's much he can contribute to be honest.

Although saying that it is within his gift to remind Musk that we have a democratically elected government.

He could "contribute" some condemnation and pressure on some of his MPs to also condemn. Especially the ones that were happy to contribute to unrest in the first place.

Silence looks like support to me

Notonthestairs · 08/08/2024 14:52

He didn't have any interest or ability to discipline those MPs before.
