Snoop Dogg - best celebrity rebrand ever?

Watching Snoop at the Olympics and he has turned into a wholesome America’s Sweetheart type (and I’m here for it!) It’s a masterpiece of a personal rebrand.

Who else has had a big turnaround in image/perception? The only other one I can think of so far is Queen Camilla.

He has been fantastic at the Equestrian events. We all needed a lift in light of the issue with CDJ prior to the Olympics. His enthusiasm and dressing up in full gear to spectate the dressage has been epic.

Google his kids nursery rhymes! Epic

I always felt Snoop had a secret nice side, but people do what they have to do to survive.
It’s great to see him embracing that nice side though.

I also think the queen was just a victim of timing.

I agree on his transformation! Have you seen the interview where he talks about dressing up at his grandkids’ parties so that “snoop dog” doesn’t take the attention?

Totally! His positive affirmations song is a BOP 😂

IncompleteSenten · 05/08/2024 09:20

Snoop was always a character he played. Many of these rappers are actors. Their rap identity is a creation.

Chonkadoodle · 05/08/2024 09:21

His love for life is infectious. Boy did good.

Itneverrainsinsocal · 05/08/2024 09:23

Love it too! I think its partly rebrand but also he has the personality for it... it wouldn't work if he didn't have that naturally.

Parsipsnoup · 05/08/2024 09:37

Omg it’s more wholesome than I realised! Just listened to the affirmations song and now have to listen to the whole lot

(I don’t even have kids 😂)

No, need to look that up too. He’s my new hero 😍😂

I’m sure there’s an element of that with most of them - but I was thinking of his murder trial etc which is taking a character quite far!

Like everyone else I'm loving snoop, he works for NBC doesn't he ? Usually does the sport with Kevin Hart who I'm not as keen on, ANYWAY all hail snoop 😀

You can be an actor and a criminal. (I didn't know he'd murdered someone tbh). Wasn't some soap actor a convicted murderer? I may have pulled that factoid out of my arse.

I guess also they grow up and the tough guy thing that seemed cool in your 20s seems embarrassing in your 40s/50s/60s

murasaki · 05/08/2024 10:17

He's been a total delight at the Olympics. I'm also loving Flavor Flav and his support (including financial, he sponsors them) for the US women's water polo.

You’re right, it’s not only one thing or another. But it’s still part of what makes his wholesome grandad image today so remarkable.

He was acquitted at the murder trial but I don’t know huge amounts of detail. Just remember it at the time and his image was very different then.

@murasaki I’ll need to check out Flav now too!

Disagree with the transformation, he's always been like this but people haven't noticed as it hasn't been so prominent.

He's a great charity giver & does all sorts for his community.

Great to see him clearly loving life & bringing the support. He's done more for bringing the Olympics to the fore than the terrible opening ceremony

Turophilic · 05/08/2024 13:07

Snoop has always been playful and good fun. His Andre 3000 look at the equestrian stuff was very cute.

Flavor Flav, as @murasaki says, has really put his money where his mouth is!

5 year sponsorship, got them all Taylor Swift tickets in Paris, keeps appearing with them to promote their visibility as champions hoping for their fourth consecutive gold.

Strokethefurrywall · 05/08/2024 13:17

Watching Snoop "train" with Michael Phelps at the Olympics with his hair in a big old swim cap was a total highlight of my last week!

Love Snoop, always have, always will.

ssd · 05/08/2024 13:42

I loved his just eat advert too

cavernclub · 05/08/2024 13:46

👆Me too. I loved his Just Eat ads - just very funny / cool.
He's great fun! The USA team mascot and cheer leader

coxesorangepippin · 05/08/2024 13:56

Isn't he like 103 but looks 50? Imagine him as your grandad

😆

Mrsjayy · 05/08/2024 13:58

He Is 52/3 so looks his age.

TheFlis · 05/08/2024 14:00

Track down the cooking show he does with Martha Stewart. It’s absolutely brilliant.

Squiffymagoo · 05/08/2024 14:01

Look on Twitter (hate calling it x) or Instagram, he’s done so much stuff! He’s been in Korean (I think?) music videos and even Bollywood films! Man is a legend
