Snoop Dogg - best celebrity rebrand ever?

Parsipsnoup · 05/08/2024 09:02

Watching Snoop at the Olympics and he has turned into a wholesome America’s Sweetheart type (and I’m here for it!) It’s a masterpiece of a personal rebrand.

Who else has had a big turnaround in image/perception? The only other one I can think of so far is Queen Camilla.

I've come across him a few times at work (I used to work at a super fancy 5* hotel) - he's absolutely lovely!

Track down the cooking show he does with Martha Stewart. It’s absolutely brilliant.

Totally agree, they are great friends. Apparently it was her that advised him to jump in with a partnership with Skechers and he's really proud that he has a global shoe line that's on the feet of everyday people like nurses/factory staff/post workers. He didn't want ridiculously expensive shoes that only the 1% can afford, he wanted everybody to be able to wear them.

He really is the gift that keeps on giving.

I LOVE Snoop. He’s on my ‘which celebrities would you invite to a dinner party’ list!

Big Snoop lover here, and have been since the late 90's.
My family have always found it hilarious but now they understand after watching him at the Olympics.

Do you remember when he tried to rebrand himself as a reggae artist known as 'snoop lion'?! Lol. Yeah, that didn't last long. He's pretty funny though. I was pleased to see him at the Olympics. It's not like you can take anything he does seriously is it?
Another funny rebrand was Madonna when she married guy Ritchie. Playing at being both a mockney and a lady of the manor.
What about Russell Brand, getting baptised in the Thames by Bear fucking Grylls?!

There are far worse things to indulge in. As habits go, you do a lot less harm to others stoned than you do, for example, pissed.

lucysnowe2 · 05/08/2024 15:25

I think his pimp stuff was a bit dodgy, if true

Presumably he's more of a feminist now

Begsthequestion · 05/08/2024 15:30

He said he gave up the misogyny when he had a daughter 🙄

He was the driver in a drive by murder. Used to sell crack.

So yeah quite the rebrand.

Perfectly legal, tho. His company makes some really good products. I like the gummies best 👌

Sitdownrosa · 05/08/2024 15:38

He's a trump supporter isn't?

I'm pretty mystified as to why we are supposed to give a shit that he's at the olympics tbh. He seems like he's done some pretty bad stuff.

Ohhhthedrama · 05/08/2024 15:39

Not sure why my reply was hidden. I was talking about his legal canabis company.

FrothyCothy · 05/08/2024 15:41

I fell down a Flavor Flav rabbit hole yesterday, he’s having the time of his life!

ItsVeryHyacinthBucket · 05/08/2024 15:42

It's not new news that Snoop is a nice guy! So it's not a transformation in my view. His family reality series from 2007 showed him as a family man.

You can be an actor and a criminal. (I didn't know he'd murdered someone tbh). Wasn't some soap actor a convicted murderer? I may have pulled that factoid out of my arse.

I guess also they grow up and the tough guy thing that seemed cool in your 20s seems embarrassing in your 40s/50s/60s

May have been answered already. The guy who played Den Watts in Eastenders spent time in prison for killing someone before he became an actor

selfesteemfan · 05/08/2024 15:45

He's always been a top dog bloke!

Aussiegold · 05/08/2024 15:47

I've just bought pork ribs as I'm doing his barbecue ribs out of his cookbook. I can heartily recommend them!

Where can I find his cooking show with Martha Stewart in the UK?

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 05/08/2024 15:55

He has his own wine as well. Apparently it is very good but I am not a fan of red so won't be trying it.

LunaNorth · 05/08/2024 15:57

Love Snoop. I always suspected he was a nice guy underneath the rapper image.

ilovemoney · 05/08/2024 16:14

He is a big character and an eccentric, I’m not keen on the porn and pimping though

FrippEnos · 05/08/2024 16:14

He does a huge amount of charity and community work.

Dirty Den - . Lesley Graham
was convicted of murder of a taxi driver when he was a soldier in Germany

There's this too - again, might be a false allegation

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-60345623

'Rapper Snoop Dogg is being sued by a woman who has accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2013.
The unnamed woman, who has filed her legal claim in California, says she "was panicked and terrified" at the time, in a bathroom at a TV studio.'

Parsipsnoup · 06/08/2024 11:47

Maybe he’s always had that personality but the perception of him has changed hugely since the 90s (as those of us old enough to remember him back then will know!)
