Bigly Thanks to BruceAndNosh for the thread title.

Hopefully people can open this link OK.

I think we can all agree that he is much much worse than in the lead up to the last election and the one he won.

He just seems so much less lucid, so much more desperate, so much more senile and forgetful, I find it bizarre anyone would vote for him.

How disgusting that incident at Arlington. I imagine that anyone who works there plays it by the rulebook and accusing her of having a mental health episode is beyond awful. Of course she would be targeted by Magas. They're batshit

He definitely seems much less on message but so much of his base don’t care about that. Polling has him ahead on the economy and I’m sure I read somewhere that’s the core election issue for 40+% of the electorate (for context abortion and women’s rights was about 13% and the border was 14%). I still have this horrid gut feeling that he’s going to win.

Radically normal sounds wonderful, given the alternative. Funny how crazy politics makes you value the radically normal. True in the UK and the US.

@DuncinToffee and the Estate of Sinead O'Connor, I just heard on Sky News.
The idea, the absolute effrontery of the idea, that he thought he could get away with using anything by Sinead after her death is the lowest of the low.
And he's an even bigger fool than he looks trying it on with Neil Young, who would eat him for breakfast.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/08/2024 12:34

As I understand it the Village People were laughing so hard when they realised he had used one of their songs that they clean forgot to forbid it, just publicised the notion that he had No Idea what he was promoting by doing so.

And also White Stripes/Jack White.

Jack White threatens to sue Trump campaign over White Stripes song use: 'Double f--- you'

Jack White is the latest in a long list of musicians demanding the Trump campaign stop using their songs. White went as far to promise a 'law suit coming from my lawyers' over unauthorized use of the White Stripes song 'Seven Nation Army.'

Polls are looking good for Harris - but nowhere near enough clear sky between the percentages for anyone to relax.

The Orange Tub 'o Lard boasts about his crowd size etc etc. but TBF he does pack them in (eg last nights town hall in Wisconsin) so it's undeniable that there are mind-boggling numbers of deluded people who worship at his tacky altar. He's definitely not the stable genius as alert as in 2016/2020 but they don't care. And MSM still treat his crass utterances and behaviour as 'normal' (for him) so they (mostly) go unchallenged. Last night he didn't know why he was there...

Ah! I remember seeing it when it first aired. Thanks for re-sharing!
(Biggly sad that it's still relevant today - although they can swap Melania in for Ivanka if there's any head-shaving to be done!😆)

Someone, somewhere in music marketing needs to make that into "Now that's what I call Fuck Trump #1" playlist.

ABBA similarly told the Tory party to Dra åt helvete when they used "Dancing Queen" at the party conference a few years back.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 30/08/2024 14:24

@SerendipityJane - oh, dear, your last para brought back unwelcome memories of Theresa May, Dancing Queen..

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 30/08/2024 14:29

Good grief, that thing about the Wisconsin Town Hall is appalling. It's more like the lunatic dreadlocks than the lunatic fringe who must be voting for the orange toupee.

Wallaw · 30/08/2024 15:34

I have to confess I was a little disappointed by the interview, just because I was rooting for her to absolutely smash it, but I think Bill Kristol sums it up pretty well here.

Trump really seems to be losing it. Did anyone else see the bacon/wind power clip? The man is an absolute menace to the safety of the country.

Did Kamala Do What She Had To?

Plus: The GOP shrugs through Trump’s norm-breaking, policy flailing, and tantrums.

I’ve now watched it all and agree I felt it was a bit underwhelming and there was an unfortunate amount of word salad…. though granted less than we’ve seen from her in the past. I do worry about the debate if Trump is on form. His form might not be something I find appealing but he certainly knows how to work his base and I’m not sure what we saw in this interview will be enough to overcome that.

HeddaGarbled · 30/08/2024 16:50

I think she’s taking a leaf out of the Keir Starmer playbook: try very hard not to say anything that will frighten voters and wait for the opposition to lose all by themselves.

Trump suggesting on X that Tim Walz’s brother will be joining him on stage to decry Walz and Kamala. I find it really hard to believe that their background checks would have let them down so badly?

That would be really horrible if it happens.

prettybird · 01/09/2024 00:37

Well, I suppose Trump had to come up with something to counter the string of warnings that Mary Trump, Trump's niece, has been issuing consistently over the years Wink
