Apparently the Museum of London still has the 6m orange inflatable that chased the Don down the Thames a few years back.

Now may be the time for the internet to remember. I'm sure there are places in the US that would be able to create similar. After all, you guys put a man on the moon. Should be child's play to put a moon on the man ,,,,

The Museum of London is bringing the Donald Trump baby blimp back to life

Baby Trump flies again!

Oh, he's frit alright.

NEW: VP Harris campaign statement about whether there should be a "mute" button at Sept 10 Presidential debate

"We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible October debate that we believe both candidates’ mics should be live throughout the full broadcast. Our understanding is that Trump’s handlers prefer the muted microphone because they don’t think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own. We suspect Trump’s team has not even told their boss about this dispute because it would be too embarrassing to admit they don’t think he can handle himself against Vice President Harris without the benefit of a mute button..."

Seems some folks are starting to wonder where all that money they have given Trump has gone - apparently Team Trump have been sending begging emails all week.

Trump raised $180 million in August, to Kamalas half a billion dollars

No mystery, by they way. Where do people think the money for all Trumps legal fees is coming from. Not all his lawyers are as dim as Giuliani (Rudy the red Faced Lawyer). He needs to be careful. There are laws about that sort of thing.

An internal 'power struggle' threatens to damage Trump’s campaign: report

Although many of the national and battleground state polls released in late August have showed 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris with small single-digit leads over GOP rival Donald Trump, quite a few Democratic strategists have caution...

I was just wondering this the other day—where had it gone to?

Lewandowski is the human equivalent of what the UK currently allows to be discharged into our bodies of water.

Someone should set up with that balloon outside Mar-a-DingDong. I wonder what Steve Bray is doing now?

Interesting to hear the phrase "votes on loan" from republicans for Harris being used.

Convergent evolution, or a conscious borrowing from Boris' 2019 pitch ?

(That loan was called in with interest 7/4/2024 ....)

So turnabout is fair play. If the UK makes a few ££ from helping us defeat Trump it will be money well spent. For both countries!

Doesn't that slightly depend what value you put on the dead?

PerkingFaintly · 26/08/2024 19:15

I'm impressed how the Harris campaign is playing to the Audience of One.

Of course they talk to other audiences as well, and they're not a campaign whose only offer is to attack the other guy.

But there's definitely a flavour of the Lincoln Project in how some of the communications are directly triggering Trump – they're playing him like a banjo!

I'm OK with this. I'm usually not a fan of candidate-baiting, but The Former Guy's infantile, reactive behaviour and malleability are among the things which make him unfit to hold office.

So I'm good with his opponents showing those things up on a regular basis.

BruceAndNosh · 26/08/2024 19:59

I'm quite surprised that the mic mute preference is not what I expected. I though Trump would want them ON all the time so that no nugget of his brilliant oratory would be missed, and Harris would want him shut up while she speaks but it's the other way round.

Spandauer · 26/08/2024 21:22

I confess, I'm not at all on top of nor understand all the movements back and forth on Trump's legal cases. But as long as they keep biting his ankles I guess means he's still not getting away with anything.

Special counsel Jack Smith filed his appeal Monday of U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon’s decision to dismiss Donald Trump’s classified documents indictment, a ruling the judge made after finding that Smith’s appointment exceeded his power as a government officer.

Cannon’s decision “conflicts with an otherwise unbroken course of decisions, including by the Supreme Court ... and it is at odds with widespread and longstanding appointment practices in the Department of Justice and across the government,” Smith wrote in the appeal.

The July 15 ruling was a stunning rebuke to a historic set of charges, in which the former president was accused of repeatedly breaking the law by allegedly stashing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home and obstructing government efforts to retrieve them.

Smith had quickly vowed to appeal Cannon’s decision in the hopes of getting a higher court to revive the case against Trump. He filed his legal argument one day before the formal deadline set by the federal appeals court in Atlanta.

The court filing argues that the implications of Cannon’s decision could extend far beyond special counsel appointments to many other types of government officials.

“The district court’s rationale could jeopardize the longstanding operation of the Justice Department and call into question hundreds of appointments throughout the Executive Branch,” Smith wrote.

Rich Lowry of the National Review. Phffft! Arch-conservative. He & the NYT are being roasted far and wide for that op-ed.

https://www.rawstory.com/trumps-character/

And I am sooooo glad that Mr Smith has filed that appeal! I was getting worried there!

Yeah, he's ridiculous and the NR is trash, and I've seen lots of funnies about it, but the fact remains that the New York Times doesn't need to give space - and should not be - to this shite. It just gives the Trumpers a pinch of extremely undeserved legitimacy to exploit. The media should not be treating him like a normal candidate.

If Harris wins, I would imagine Garland will be out and there could be a much more aggressive DOJ when it comes to Mr Trump.

Zonder · 27/08/2024 07:53

He makes a fair point in this paragraph:

Mr. Trump has said he wants to do to his opponents what they are doing to him. At the end of the day, what they are undertaking is a focused, intelligently designed campaign to disqualify him. Responding in kind doesn’t mean lashing out in Truth Social posts but crafting a comprehensive anti-Harris argument that implicates, in turn, her unsuitability for the highest office in the land

But the rest of it is dross.

Crucible · 27/08/2024 08:02

@Spandauerthats quite a piece on a prominent platform but that's just another attack on Harris dressed as Trump team advice. Edited because I cannot remove the @ Spandauer!

Again, with the parallels - despite a rabid right wing press cheering the Tories on in the UK, they managed to lose spectacularly. Suggesting the hegemony of traditional platforms to the New World Order is finally succumbing to the decline forecast a generation ago.
