Chanel no 5 smells terrible.

I don't get why people like Chanel no 5. It smells horrible to me. Musty and cat pee.

I also strongly dislike patchouli and anything with patchouli in. Does Chanel no 5 have patchouli? Maybe that could be why?

Anyone else, or am I alone?

All Chanels other than Chance smell like cat piss on me, I clearly have inferior skin

I like the Chanel no 5 eau premiere. It is a bit lighter and sparkly.

I agree. I had some of the in laws a few years back and I thought it smelt “old”. I put it down to them regifting it or something but then found out it does actually smell that bad!

all Chanel smells awful on me which is such a shame as I like it on others.

Chanel Noir is stunning - I don't like no 5 at all

A great frond of mine wears it and I love it on her, but from the bottle or on me isn’t smells awful.

On me it smells like disinfectant, according to colleagues when I was working. I gave my bottle to my friend who was told by a random woman in the street- you smell glorious.

Love it and always have but can't afford it nowadays

I love classic perfumes and used to love No5 but it doesn’t smell the same to
me now.
Others like Ysatis and Rive Gauche are the same. I tried some Ysatis in the airport recently and it was awful, I was really disappointed.

i used to wear it 35 years ago but I don’t like it now. My tastes have definitely changed though. Having said that I still love Coco. Makes me feel like a proper grown up.

I love Coco Chanel. The plain black one. Coco. One of my all time faves. I absolutely detest No.5, just so musty and old, reminds me of old rich folk and Madamosielle, sore head time. Chance is also up there with the sore head. Now, offer me Chanel bag, any kind colour or size, I’m all over that lol

Most perfumes smell sickly sweet on me. Much sweeter than they smell in the bottle. I've learnt to wear them all day for at least one day before committing to buy.

There are relatively few that smell good on me (although actually Chanel No. 5 is one of them).

TBH any womens perfume on me smells like cat pee, which is why i prefer mens EDTs.

For those traditional and well-known perfume houses I like more by Guerlain than anyone else.

I love patchouli. I also love Chanel Coco and Crystalle. But No.5 smells like dusty old rose potpourri to me.

Ohhh I love it, dont really wear perfume much now but its my favourite if I do. Can see why some people dont though, i feel that way about quite a few popular fragrances.

I don’t get it at all, I never have. I actually dislike most perfumes but that one is particularly rank to my nose.

The only perfume I ever loved was Calvin Klein Escape- I don’t think you can get it any more.

Coco is gorgeous. Still got a bottle that must be over 35 years old. I want to like No 5 but I don't love. L'aimant is a cheap similar smell and more my budget.

My partner bought me Mitsouki for Christmas having read that it was a 5 star one in that Luca Turin book. Another one I wanted to love. I swapped it for Shalimar.
