Just that really!

Whether that be staying in the UK or travelling abroad.

Never

IamSmarticus · 02/08/2024 08:12

Twice usually, for a week abroad each time.
Ignoring the cost, I don't have enough annual leave from work to be able to go away half as much as some of you seem to do!

JoyApple · 02/08/2024 08:14

We try to go once a year - abroad. This year it was a 4 night trip as that's what we could afford

cheezncrackers · 02/08/2024 08:20

It varies, but anything from 3-5 trips is normal. Usually one big trip, which sometimes coincides with visiting the ILs (they live far away), skiing, a couple of short breaks in Europe and maybe a short break in the UK. This year was an exam year for us, so we've done two bigger trips and two 48-hour trips to see sporting events and the ILs came to see us. I don't count seeing my DPs as being a holiday!

5 or 6 times now DH has retired, I work part time and we’re no longer tied to school holidays or factory shutdowns. Makes a huge difference, especially the shutdowns, plus only 2 of us now.

  • Theatre trip to Stratford for birthday in February
  • Week in Lanzarote in March ( weather horrendous)
  • City break to Copenhagen in April
  • Hot tub lodge break in May for wedding anniversary
  • week cruise around the Med in June
  • going to Guernsey in August for short break
  • going to Cyprus for a week in September

When the kids were young we were lucky if we had one holiday every other year.

We are making the most of our time now as you never know what’s round the corner.

Wow all these multiple abroad trips! We are getting into a routine of 1 week abroad normally May half term and then a week somewhere in the UK in summer. We do plenty of days out in summer though. We are restricted by having to use all our leave to cover school holidays as not much grandparent or other support (so we take 2 weeks off together iyswim, and also skint due to nursery fees (but only until January!). Kids 6 and 2. Ambition is to do more and ‘bigger holidays when they get a bit older…wouls
love to go back to New York and take them. To be honest 1 week abroad a year with them is enough as at that age, particularly the 2 year old I need a holiday from the holiday when we get back…😂🤷‍♀️

notanothernana · 02/08/2024 08:50

Bloody hell! I have only ever had one holiday, sometimes in Europe but often UK and a few days here or there visiting friends, family or maybe a gig.

Sdpbody · 02/08/2024 08:50

This year we will have 3 abroad holidays and two uk breaks.

Sdpbody · 02/08/2024 08:51

And we will go to London probably 4/5 times for a few nights.

ramsayboltonshounds · 02/08/2024 08:54

March - Gran Canaria
May - New York
August - Slovenia
September - Belfast
October - Copenhagen

We're going to Orlando and Caribbean next year so probably only the one next year.

Thelondonone · 02/08/2024 08:55

From august 24

  • aug-week in portugal
  • Aug- week in malta (was lovely, would go back)-part funded by my dad so he had someone to holiday with
  • Dec-skiing
  • easter-skiing for a week (my trip was free, dh and kids paid for theirs-not together. Scout trip was v expensive!)
  • may-Greece for a week
  • now-Croatia 12 days (very expensive-I blame game of thrones!).
some days in the north visiting my parents and usually stay in premier inn as not enough room in Parents house- not necessarily a holiday! We prioritise holidays and I rarely buy clothes. We are very fortunate but my mum had an early dementia diagnosis so I’m living life to the full while I can.
CordylineCapybara · 02/08/2024 09:06

Usually two uk holidays a year but this year doing one here and one abroad. First time going abroad in 8 years.

WonderingAboutBabies · 02/08/2024 09:08

Usually 3-4 times a year, mixture of durations.

Example last year we did Mexico for 2 weeks, Paris for a weekend, and Bali for 3 weeks.

This year we did Cornwall for a week, Crete for a week, the Cotswolds for a long weekend, and we will do a spa weekend in October.

However, we're due in December/January so this is all going to change!!

specialk9 · 02/08/2024 09:20

This year will be 8 times

Europe x 4 - 1 week in Feb, a weekend in June, 4 weeks in Summer, a weekend October.

Long Haul x 2 - 2 weeks in April and 1 week in October.

UK weekend breaks x 2

We go away most school holidays and we have a holiday home in Europe so this makes it more affordable. We work to go on holiday!

snowballsintheoven · 02/08/2024 09:22

Mmm.. about 5 abroad

The odd UK break too

Sockmate123 · 04/08/2024 12:43

spikeandbuffy · 02/08/2024 08:11

Never

That's awful, unless you don't want to?

Tisfortired · 04/08/2024 12:45

One 10 day holiday abroad and then a long weekend break in the UK is what we aim for. However there have been years we have gone without a holiday to go on a fancier holiday the following year. This year we went to Majorca and Northumberland, no holidays next year as we are going to Japan in May 2026 which sounds like absolutely ages away!

spikeandbuffy · 04/08/2024 12:47

@Sockmate123 can't afford to. Live alone, low wage

ScarletWitchM · 04/08/2024 13:07

Usually do 2 UK holidays and 2 abroad

halfthesun · 04/08/2024 13:08

Hello, currently in Antigua and flying to St Martin this afternoon. Last month Barcelona plus Seville earlier his year. Sicily at the end of last year. So four abroad and three in UK - love waking in the Lake District Daffodil

kerstina · 04/08/2024 13:39

About 3 a year but only in the Uk and always by the coast. I have a real need to see the sea and live far from it . I go without other things to afford these holidays. If I lived there I could live without holidays.
