Just that really!

Whether that be staying in the UK or travelling abroad.

Third time this year in about 3 weeks time
I do like to holiday abroad

NewName24 · 02/08/2024 00:17

Most of my life, once.
Now it is only dh and I to pay for (dc all grown), and we can go out of peak time, we've moved to two.
Usually in this country though, and - for example - last one was 5 days,

Borborygmus · 02/08/2024 00:21

None.

Mamabear999 · 02/08/2024 00:29

i was reading these thinking wow how many holidays do people go on so I have reviewed my own travel in the last twelve months.
Aug 2023- 4 day trip to Manchester
October 2023 - 5 days in Lisbon
Nov 23 - one night uk hotel break
Jan -Portugal 5 nights
Feb - Uk cottage break 3 nights
May - 1 night hotel break
June - 10 nights Turkey
You easily forget and think you get no where 🤣

This year we've had a long weekend in the Peak District, another in the Lake District, a weekend camping and a 2 week summer holiday abroad. We've also had a couple of one night breaks for a wedding and a concert, and a couple of trips to visit family, but I don't really count those.

That's probably it for this year. I was weighing up maybe going to Centre Parcs, but then realised how much we've already been away this year. It would be nice to have a half term break just at home.

LaWench · 02/08/2024 03:49

Weve not been abroad since 2019. We have been doing UK breaks since then, around 3-4x a year. Lake district, Scotland, Teesdale, Cotswolds.

whiteroseredrose · 02/08/2024 07:25

It has varied over the years.

Generally a 'long' holiday and a weekend break.

With DC in early years it was UK camping and a UK cottage for the weekend.

Later the long holiday was visiting in-laws in Spain and we had weekends in Rome one year and Florence the next.

We had a 'big' holiday in Mexico last year which might be the last big family one.

Now that DC are adults we are hoping to have a long weekend together every year while practical. Longer holidays will probably be just me and DH.

Sockmate123 · 02/08/2024 07:34

About 6/7, 3 or 4 abroad, 3 weekends here...spa weekend etc
I love holidays, last year took a 2 month holiday abroad in the Summer. In my defence, neither I nor DH drink or smoke and we don't really go out at home regularly. We do the odd time for family/friends occasions/birthdays but not out every weekend in the pub. I see that as a waste of money.
Some people do really cheap holidays like camping etc it doesn't have to be expensive trips

Wowwellokthen · 02/08/2024 07:37

It varies....

In last 12 months: normal

  • sept 2023 - 1 night in Cambridge
  • March 2024 - a week in France

Next 12 months: far more than normal!

  • August 2024 - 3 nights in Scotland
  • October 2024 - a week in Marrakesh
  • April 2025 - a week in France
  • July 2025 - a week in Spain
BobnLen · 02/08/2024 07:39

One trip abroad and about ten trips in touring caravan

GreenMarigold · 02/08/2024 07:43

One 1-week holiday a year. I’d love to travel overseas more but I try not to fly every year to help reduce our impact on the planet. I’m shocked to see how much some people fly.

My husband doesn’t like travelling so some years I take the children by myself.

2018 - Cornwall
2019 - Spain
2020 - none
2021 - Peak District
2022 - Mallorca
2023 - Wales
2024 - Italy

mitogoshi · 02/08/2024 07:46

Depends what you count as a holiday, this year I have one uk holiday (10 days) 1 abroad holiday (12 days) and 2 city weekend breaks overseas but for specific reasons. I've stayed a few nights away camping weekends, overnight hotel or family for events and visiting too but not expensive.

MrsTartanTeacosy · 02/08/2024 07:47

I’ve not had one for twenty four years. Not even a weekend away.

Mydogisagentleman · 02/08/2024 07:52

We have a flat in Spain.
We try to get out 6 -9 times a year, either both me and DH or individually.
There's a lot of admin to stay on top of

Lordofmyflies · 02/08/2024 07:52

Usually 3 a year. One week somewhere hot in Feb, 2 weeks somewhere sightseeing / travelling in the summer and one week in October.
Then usually 3/4 day breaks at Easter, May Bank Hol and Christmas.

OlympicsFanGirl · 02/08/2024 07:54

This year 4 overseas and 2 Uk.

SunQueen24 · 02/08/2024 07:55

Once abroad usually, often once in the UK too. Totalling 2 weeks. Cost £6k this year. Don’t know how people go more.

*edited to add I know how they go more without kids term time!

mondaytosunday · 02/08/2024 07:57

Once. Being single parent (widow) and school schedule it was either a summer holiday or Christmas one. When husband was alive we'd do two a year. I also have four pets so that restricts things too.

Barnabyby · 02/08/2024 07:57

6 so far this year.
Two weekends away to different parts of Wales
One weekend to London
Greece for two weeks currently
New York for a long weekend
Orlando Disney for two weeks in January.

Nothing planned for the rest of the year though.

Sirzy · 02/08/2024 07:59

This year 2 nights in Yorkshire.

next year 2 week cruise and 4 days in a Caravan.

In an ideal world we would go away every school holiday but sadly bank balance has something to say about that plan!

USaYwHatNow · 02/08/2024 08:00

Once generally, though on maternity leave we went abroad twice. However this year we're prioritising our house renovation so won't be going abroad now until likely next Autumn.

OldTinHat · 02/08/2024 08:03

I had no holidays for 10yrs but, for the past 3yrs, I've gone on one UK coach holiday each year. Really good value - half board, four nights, two excursions, £250.

Anonymouslyposting · 02/08/2024 08:04

Generally we probably do 4? Three abroad and one in the UK. But only the summer one is a big 10+ days holiday others are a long weekend or a week.

Blackcats7 · 02/08/2024 08:07

Never. Can’t afford it. I am always amazed at people affording multiple foreign holidays every year. The idea of having so much disposable income they can spend it on just enjoying themselves. Obviously if you have the money it is your choice how you spend it.
I am retired from my career in nursing now but even when I was working as a reasonably senior nurse I didn’t have the spare cash for that.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 02/08/2024 08:11

This year a week in Rome at Easter.
2 weekends away in North Yorkshire.
We had to cancel our summer holiday to Portugal as my Dad was ill. He died a month ago and we have now booked a week in Gran Canaria.
New York for a week in October and Christmas in Sri Lanka are planned.
DS12 went to Germany for 4 nights with school also.
