I'm extremely disappointed about the lack of coverage this story has got.
Keep bumping it so plenty of folk see it.

Very disappointing. I used to like her, but this is disgusting.

Yes I feel the same.

he absolutely doesn’t deserve a second chance. His victim doesn’t get one so why should he? And how he could possibly have been selected - Dutch Olympic selectors deserve should be sacked. Revolting.

SureJanOK · 25/07/2024 23:48

Also it annoys me when people say "he's done his time" in reference to murderers/rapists.

I don't know how it works in the Netherlands but in this country, prison is only PART of the sentence. You stay on licence/parole/sex offenders register for much longer than that. And sorry but no, some crimes remove some privileges from you FOR EVER. It's not a "second punishment" as Paula says. It's the NATURAL CONSEQUENCES of your actions.

I feel exactly the same about rapist footballers. No son of mine would ever have a rapist's name emblazoned on the back of his football jersey.

Absolutely disgusted that this paedophile is being allowed to compete in the Olympics. Medals matter more than children's lives it seems.

SureJanOK · 25/07/2024 23:51

If you ever needed yet another reason not to pay for a TV licence, Ms Radcliffe surely provides it! I'll be damned if a penny of my money ends up in that vile woman's pocket.

BBC literally is Nonce Central isn't it! The Nonces and their Apologists.

I am too, but that's not Paula Radcliffe's fault. In fact I wrote to the Dutch Olympic Committee about it and got a response about what a reformed character he is, grrr.

I thought her explanation, giving context, made a lot of sense.

Justrelax · 26/07/2024 00:26

What's being done about this disgusting man's participation in the olympics? Surely it can't be allowed to stand - what is being done to protest? I want the crowd to make it impossible for him to play. As mums we all need to stand up for that (then) 12 year old girl, since the selection team won't and the olympics committees won't.

Flibflobflibflob · 26/07/2024 00:32

The british olympics association has complained and he’s not allowed to stay in the village with other athletes. Paula Radcliffe was just so utterly wrong, I struggle to see how his inclusion can be justified.

SureJanOK · 26/07/2024 00:35

Apparently ppl will attend simply to boo the creep

Astonishing behaviour on her part. Her apology is ridiculously weak.

MitskiMoo · 26/07/2024 00:55

When she emptied during a race (it wasn't just what you said), the world admired her. We should have realise what a piece of literal shite she actually is. That cunt raped a child and she happily cheers him on. I hope that poor young woman never sees this. One drug test missed you get a ban, plan and rape a child, you're not only welcomed, you're actively encouraged...I feel like I'm rambling because I'm pretty much lost for words with any of this.

GodspeedJune · 26/07/2024 00:59

I can’t stand these ‘he served his time’ apologists who have zero consideration that these monsters inflict a lifetime sentence on their victims.

Appalled that he’s been allowed to compete, and Paula’s comments are repulsive.

orangalang · 26/07/2024 02:06

I thought being an Olympian was an honour. Representing your country and have a code of conduct to follow becasue you are a role model. This makes a mockery of all athletes and don't have any intention of watching any of it from now on.

Thepurplecar · 26/07/2024 02:07

She spoke in error and has apologised profusely. Why is this thread about a woman who misspoke rather than the child rapist? Where is the crime here? Who's the villain? Where was the headline about his crime? When will we stop making women carry the can for male crimes?

You can do better than this mumsnetters.

How has the spoken in error? And why cannot women be held to account of their own actions separate to men?

I have added her to my list of "most hated celebs" who have zero morals. She is in good company along with:

Fern Britton
Philip Schofield
Ant McPartlin
H from Steps
Tom Daley
Prince Andrew

Sorry for missing the point OP but really curious as to why is H from Steps on your list?

Thevelvelletes · 26/07/2024 04:02

What an idiot bet she wouldn't be so philosophical about his crime if it was one of her family that went through what happened to that twelve year old girl.

DrJump · 26/07/2024 04:06

He crossed international boarders with the intention of harming a child. How he has a passport is beyond me

No Donald Trump, Matt Hancock , Boris Johnson pritti Patel?

What has H from steps done?

Also you might want to consider adding the other Ian Waitkins to your list.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 26/07/2024 04:13

Doesn’t she work for Nike or receive sponsorship/money. Vile company.

Madeinsuffolk · 26/07/2024 04:16

I heard the interview live. It wasn’t a quick off the cuff comment, Andrew did challenge her view and she was steadfast. She wasn’t confused at all. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing

LivelyFinch · 26/07/2024 07:32

Used to admire her, I don't any longer.

Used to love watching the Olympics but now we're having to celebrate pedophiles and men taking womens places. I certainly won't be watching anything this rape apologist will be presenting.

Do you mean H from Steps? It's another Ian Watkins (Lost Prophets) who committed the awful child abuse.

No derailing intended - just checking as H has spoken in the past about his distress about being confused with the other Ian, reveiving hate mail, etc - I agree that what the Dutch athlete did is horrendous, he shouldn't be competing, and Paula was very wrong in what she said.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 26/07/2024 07:44

I’d like to know what disgusting moron of a woman married and had children with the monster!
