I've painted my toenails!! I'm going on holiday tomorrow and at the ripe old age of 59 decided I'm going to wear nail varnish for the first time! And they look great.

Anyone else?

Got my autistic 16 year old to eat kale.

I had to cook it with some spinach, blend both together then mix with garlic, cream cheese and some seasonings for a pasta sauce but their plate is empty and it was apparently really nice.

This same kid didn't want to eat toast this morning in case it made them sick. We've been dealing with major emetophobia with food recently.

Watched my Grandson crawl 😍

BrioLover · 24/07/2024 20:34

Let our 4 month old puppy off the lead by myself on our lunchtime walk. Normally DH is with me but today I braved it. She came back! (There was one hairy moment when I had to shriek her name but still...)

Sorted my outfit to wear to my Dads funeral 🥲

If that was a scene in a drama, the next scene would see her scurrying up the aisle towards the cockpit with a worried look 😬

Even I can see the humour in this 😂 It would be a terrifying yet good value sequence of events.

Posted a thread on Mumsnet. Where are the bells and whistles?

I had a first yesterday and today. I've been forced into a people management position against my will, I hate managing people because I'm not terribly assertive - but yesterday I told off a new employee for being rude (basically told him to watch his tone). Don't think I've ever picked anyone up on that in my life, and he took it very graciously.

An even more unpleasant first today - had to tell a completely different employee that they are on their last warning, that <certain events> cannot happen again. One more incident and their role comes to an end. I felt dreadful about it and they were so brave trying not to cry whilst thanking me profusely for a final chance and apologising. I have to protect the business and our clients but I hate seeing people in emotional distress.

Landing a plane without using flaps.

(Learning to fly currently 😁)

HollyhockMouse · 24/07/2024 20:51

Used a hedge trimmer as a strimmer up at the allotment, because I don't own a strimmer. I looked ridiculous and was not impressing the older gent who was watching me but I don't care.

FortunataTagnips · 24/07/2024 21:07

Booked a cosmetic procedure. (Ok, only a skin-tag removal, but it still felt a bit unlike me.)

MysweetAudrina · 24/07/2024 21:39

Went quad biking and got a henna tattoo.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 24/07/2024 21:44

Had a hangover from drinking lemon gin with bubblegum pop as a mixer

Drove 12 miles to see my hairdresser in her new salon. Saw new homes being built right next to a pretty park and went in to the sales office just to see. I think I might be buying my first home soon!

That's brilliant

everythingisgoingup · 24/07/2024 21:49

Visited 221B Baker Street 😊

leeverarch · 24/07/2024 21:54

Scanned in and archived a load of old import duty & VAT documentation at work.

That was a thrill - and I've got the other half of it to do tomorrow!

tribalmango · 24/07/2024 21:54

Went to the Holocaust Galleries tour at the imperial war museum in London.

I need to go again (without the tour) to read all the exhibits and displays; it's too much for one visit.

I've not been able to visit before as I've always had a child with me. I took a day of annual leave and went with a friend.

Toastandbutterand · 24/07/2024 21:58

I got blood poisoning!

I'm getting better already and boy do I feel tipsy from the meds, I caught it really quickly so I'm fine and went to a+e, they saw me in 3 or 4 minutes. Seriously! I was more worried about the wait than the potential illness 😁
The service was fabulous!

I'm also yellow from being washed in iodine.

StirlingMallory · 24/07/2024 21:59

Bought two different girths of garden twine. Girths? Thicknesses. Anyway I was undecided which to get so I got both.

Made pickled walnuts.

If you keep them for 70 years you could auction them (see other thread "I'm an Auctioneer, AMA).

MoiraRoseVibes · 24/07/2024 22:06

Fed my cat special cat pâté. He LOVED it. He better not get used to it!

Eyesopenwideawake · 24/07/2024 22:06

Ordered the death certificate of an ex. Always wondered how he died but it was almost 10 years ago and I don't have any contact details of his family.

Opened a packet of choc digestives and not eaten them all 😵😵 genuinely! I was annoyed I even thought about buying them, then annoyed I bought them, then annoyed I opened them, then annoyed I ate some. But I didn’t finish the whole pack! Baby steps!

Well done. I really relate to this feeling (it's rare I manage anything similar though).

Let's see how restrained you'd be with a packet of white chocolate digestives!!!
This is a recent discovery for me and I must admit it is very hard to resist going through the whole packet. And I don't normally like any kind of biscuits!

I've never used 1 bathroom in our house. Been here 10 years, we had it installed as a new room, had to have the room made from scratch, plumbing, windows, the lot. I only ever go in there to clean it and change the towels. Today's I had a shower in there, first time ever!

JoanThursday · 24/07/2024 22:17

I painted a garden bench.

Looks great, but took me far longer than I anticipated. Three full coats, and I never want to hear the word 'Ronseal' ever again.

Topsy44 · 24/07/2024 22:17

Heard that my 12 year old DD voluntarily asked to have lettuce in her chicken sandwich. A minor miracle.
