What's something you've done for the first time ever today?

I've painted my toenails!! I'm going on holiday tomorrow and at the ripe old age of 59 decided I'm going to wear nail varnish for the first time! And they look great.

Anyone else?

Had polynucleotide treatment on my wrinkly neck and around my lips.

GenerousGardener · 24/07/2024 17:50

Kept my mouth shut while my MIL complained about everything (it was bloody difficult too!).

Paid a cheque in online.

Did you want 12? I ended up with 4 loaves of bread on holiday once because 4 was the lowest number i could remember in the local language and I was determined not to be that tourist who comes in shouting in English and pointing.

😂 yes I definitely wanted 12. I had to look up the number though. I'm good on memory for 1-5 and how to make it 100-500 (very useful for buying deli meats) but haven't memorised the others. Not bad considering I only starting learning about three weeks ago. I'm pretty proud of myself 😁

Had lunch by myself. Trashy Pizza Hut which I love, 2 mojitos and 20% of my current book on kindle. I had a fabulous time.

I've been to lunch by myself before but this was the first time with two drinks 🤪 And I had 30% off. That was the icing on the cake.

Walkingtheplank · 24/07/2024 17:56

Spent part of my WFH day working at the patio table. Usually if its warm enough to sit outside its sunny and then I can't see the screen for reflection. But for a few hours before it rained, it was warm and overcast.

Swam 2km

I'm so proud of myself

Just over a year ago I stared swimming and did 8 lengths

Today I did 80

In 51 minutes.

Why don't I do this!

I love Pizza Hut

Been in the cells under a crown court (just visiting)

Tangled123 · 24/07/2024 18:19

My county is in the All-Ireland final on Sunday and my work was having a jersey day to celebrate today. I don’t have a jersey that fits so I stopped at the side of the road this morning to buy something in the county colours to wear.

Agreed a divorce settlement
Found that the slug beer trap I set yesterday worked

?? Really

Apparently so, it's called Love Never Dies. I love musicals so I hope it's a good one!

Magpiecomplex · 24/07/2024 18:30

Used the petrol station air machine. I think my ancient foot pump has finally given up the ghost.

Applied for my first C Suite role.

I also applied for senior management positions but I thought I’d chance my arm 😁

Ohh good luck

GingerLiberalFeminist · 24/07/2024 18:34

I admitted to the air steward that I don’t really like flying at all even though I do a whole lot of it, sometimes several times a month, and am actually pretty scared sometimes; and she gave me a great pep talk / metaphorical handhold along the lines of “if I’m back here casually chatting about my boyfriend troubles and what I had for dinner last night, there’s nothing to worry about.”

If that was a scene in a drama, the next scene would see her scurrying up the aisle towards the cockpit with a worried look 😬

LindorDoubleChoc · 24/07/2024 18:35

Worn a dress to work. I live 99% of my life in trousers. I own 3 dresses and usually wear them when I'm going out out.

UpUpUpU · 24/07/2024 18:35

Went shopping and didnt cry at my body in the changing rooms. I accepted this is me now and bought clothes to flatter my now figure. Quite enjoyed it actually ☺️

That's absolutely brilliant and very inspiring!

Walked from Zennor to the Gurnards head on the coast path in the pouring rain

RobertSalamander · 24/07/2024 18:38

Opened a packet of choc digestives and not eaten them all 😵😵 genuinely! I was annoyed I even thought about buying them, then annoyed I bought them, then annoyed I opened them, then annoyed I ate some. But I didn’t finish the whole pack! Baby steps!

Shitandrun · 24/07/2024 18:39

Went for a mooch around the tourist shops and spent almost £50 on crap that the dc wanted. I've been poor most of my life but things are getting better and not having to watch the pennies does wonders for your mental health.

MenFEARtheDEERE · 24/07/2024 18:44

Drove 12 miles to see my hairdresser in her new salon. Saw new homes being built right next to a pretty park and went in to the sales office just to see. I think I might be buying my first home soon!

Dontcallmescarface · 24/07/2024 18:50

Got Covid.
