Is anyone else struggling with this humid weather?

Im feeling pretty lousy and I don’t think this humid weather is helping. It’s between 80-95% most days and nights here at moment. I’m not sure how humidity works but I think that’s quite high? It seems to make me feel more anxious - is this just me?

I don't like this humid weather either op.
It is horrible

Cloud44 · 22/07/2024 18:07

Does it make you feel out of sorts too?

It does! Any kind of really hot / humid weather makes me feel worried. Not sure why, but I prefer it cooler. I've never been keen on summer

DinnaeFashYersel · 22/07/2024 18:10

Come on up to Scotland. I've got my heating on cause its so cold.

mynameiscalypso · 22/07/2024 18:11

Where are you OP? It was horribly humid over the weekend here in London but feels much less so this afternoon

Cloud44 · 22/07/2024 18:23

@mynameiscalypso in the south west,it’s due to be 95% again over night.

mynameiscalypso · 22/07/2024 18:26

@Cloud44 ugh, that sound horrendous. It's only about 60% at the moment. I hope it clears for you soon.

Bookridden · 22/07/2024 19:11

Yes, I'm finding the weather unpleasant. I know I should be grateful we've not had many 30⁰C plus days, but the constant claggy, sweaty weather is unpleasant. Can't wait for autumn.

Cloud44 · 22/07/2024 19:14

@Bookridden does it make you feel more anxious or out of sorts in some ways?

OP posts:
Dizzy82 · 22/07/2024 19:16

I've got a bad headache and can't sleep with current weather, feel rubbish and want a good storm to clear the air.

@Bookridden does it make you feel more anxious or out of sorts in some ways?

Yes. I feel lower in mood and somehow less alive.

starsinyourpies · 22/07/2024 19:23

I have a stinking cold and this weather is NOT helping! I feel disgusting

Pity party over.

DGPP · 22/07/2024 19:25

No, I love it. Sorry you’re suffering

AddictedtoStarmix · 22/07/2024 19:28

Me!
Had half my lung removed a fortnight ago and really struggling to breathe in the humidity.
Normally love the sun and heat, but not this year!

Percivaleverett · 22/07/2024 19:28

I’ve been feeling anxious & stressed too OP though not sure if it’s the humidity as I’ve had a lot of other stuff going on. It makes me feel a bit sick & no appetite though.

SeatonCarew · 22/07/2024 19:32

It's a combination of the very high humidity and the atmospheric pressure OP. Ideal humidity is around 45 to 55%, so yes, 95% is very high. I find a dehumidifier helpful, they do remove a lot of water from the air, when you come to empty them! Also helpful in winter, it is cheaper and more effective to heat dry air than damp.

However it's not just the damp air that's a problem, I googled this recently because I didn't believe it was just the damp that was making me hurt, and sure enough, low atmospheric pressure can also cause pain.

I feel unsettled a lot of the time at the moment, because it feels like it is about to thunder. It's not you, it is a genuine thing. 💕

What?? I’ve just been a walk in a T-shirt and all my windows are open! It’s lovely in my part of Scotland.

Tanfastic · 22/07/2024 19:58

God yeah it's horrific, especially in the office at work where the windows only open a few inches and the fans only blow round hot air. 10 hours later I'm a sweaty, headachy mess.

Compash · 22/07/2024 20:04

Yes, I feel subtly but annoyingly grotty - sort of a general inflammation, a quietly stubborn headache, and everything feels more effortful and I cannot be fagged... But I'm not a fan of summer, and never really happy until I see the blackberries... 🫐

Cloud44 · 22/07/2024 20:08

Thank you @SeatonCarew it makes me feel a little better knowing I’m not going crazy!

HansHolbein · 22/07/2024 20:09

Oh it’s horrible! But people ‘love it‘ 🙄

Cloud44 · 22/07/2024 20:10

I don’t mind summer when it’s sunny with a bit of a breeze, I actually quite like the sun, just at the moment the air feels ‘heavy’ with no sun here!?

Come on up to Scotland. I've got my heating on cause its so cold.

I've just spent a week in Scotland (live in SE England) and it was warm enough for tee shirts all week and very humid. Must have been a long way from you (we were near Glasgow).

I don't like the humidity either, I have had a slight headache on and off for a week or so and wondered if it was connected to the humidity, I didn't consider atmospheric pressure.
