Omg royal mail have really fucked up. My parcel said out for delivery. It got to 1.45 still not here and I have to leave for school run at 2pm. So I look at other options it gives me an option to deliver to a neighbour so I ask for delivery to next door ... road mail have now rescheduled my delivery for tomorrow. To go next door . I never asked for delivery date to be rescheduled. It never told me this would happen.. the worst thing is it's frozen rats for my snakes.

Not really the end of the world, is it? Just knock for the package when you get an email to say delivered

purplehue · 22/07/2024 17:04

Yes this happens if you request to deliver to a neighbour close to the delivery time. Not sure why they do this but it's annoying.

PuttingDownRoots · 22/07/2024 17:04

Is this a perishable order? Are they at risk of going off, defrosting or similar?

I thought snakes went months between meals, will 24 hours make much difference? Are you worried they will eat you if the rats don’t arrive today? 😀

The rats will probably not be frozen by tomorrow, I think is the issue lol

Defrosted dead rats? The smelll , decomposing, can't refreeze

That’s what happens if you reschedule a delivery or change the address. What they do is attempt delivery and if you are home then it’s fine, but if not then they’ll follow the instructions for the redelivery.
It usually says “thank you for rescheduling your delivery, if you are not in to receive your delivery we will follow this tomorrow” or something like that.

You can’t be update it for the day of delivery but I’m confused… why did you even do it? Just stick a bit of paper to your front door with a note saying, “had to pop out, please leave parcel at number X.”

Why didn’t you just stick a note to the door?

HotCrossBunplease · 22/07/2024 17:08

I figured they must be packaged in some way to keep them cool. If not, there should be a label on the box saying “must be delivered today”. That’s what my Hello Fresh boxes say.

But they come by DPD, nobody in their right mind would trust RM with perishables.

Yeah I didn't know it would be delivered by royal mail .. never again

Could you call them and explain? Maybe they'll let you pick them up from the parcel station. I doubt they want to deliver decomposing rats tomorrow. I have had a similar dead frozen mouse situation and that's what I did.

Ivehearditbothways · 22/07/2024 17:11

But why didn’t you just stick a note on your front door telling them where to leave the parcel?

CourtenayDevon · 22/07/2024 17:11

This exact thing happened to me last week! Luckily as my parcel was already out that day the postie actually tried before seeing the date change mistake and I was in, so you might still get it today.

It is, on the screen where you choose for it to go to the neighbour it shows you what date that will be. I've gone to do it before, seen that and not made the changes because of it

I didn't know that would happen. It didn't tell me until (after) I had asked for it to go next door . Since next door is 2 foot away I didn't know it would reschedule the date .

But it does tell you.

Regardless, why did you think it was easier than just putting a note on the door! You should have done it anyway as the postman was there out with the parcel, would have seen your note and then delivered it next door.

I wonder how people get through the day when they can’t just do the obvious solution.

SerendipityJane · 22/07/2024 17:24

Reminds me when you had envelopes that said "Photos: do not bend" and someone would write "Oh yes they do !" over a crease.

I didn't see it . Until after I don't know why. Maybe I was a that. I do have dyslexia and learning difficulties so its possible It didn't sink in /woodshed over my head .

Maybe I didn't want to put on the door n9 one is in the house .

No need for sarky response sometimes there are reasons to get things wrong or mixed up

Are you always such a rude smart arse or is it just when you’re on an anonymous platform? It doesn’t tell you until you’ve changed it that it will be next day and if their options invite you to deliver to a neighbour then that seems pretty straightforward. Following the instructions the delivery company gives you is the logical answer.
Besides, my local posties won’t pay any attention to a note on the door. They won’t leave something if you speak to them through the doorbell either. They will only follow the instructions they have.

Thicktok · 23/07/2024 11:15

I got my delivery it was still frozen 😅

Great news.

I admit to finding the thought of your neighbours receiving a delivery defrosting rodents unexpectedly a bit amusing... they would definitely wonder what they had done to upset you...

Xiaoxiong · 23/07/2024 11:27

Ooh I was just about to post a moaning thread about Royal Mail!!

Waiting in for a tracked delivery (also perishable, has a sticker on it saying temp controlled) - saw it was out for delivery, sat here at front door waiting. Suddenly tracking website changes to "attempted delivery, no one in". No red card, no doorbell, no knock, no van down the road, nothing. Total liars.

They say they'll attempt delivery tomorrow but they apparently "attempted" today, which they blatantly didn't - and no red card so I can't pick it up at the sorting office which in any case is only open from 8-10am. If I "rearrange delivery" the earliest is Thursday by which point the whole thing will have melted. No customer service to call, no contact to be made with anyone (apparently only the sender can contact them?!)

How on earth does this company still operate...it's shocking.
