Put the country before himself - yes, finally, but he’s done it.

Please God let my country be ok.

I’d be grateful if a US poster could tell me which wing of the Dems KH is on - does she have a constituency of support? - and how popular she is within the party. I’m thinking in British terms like left, right or centre of a party, figures who appeal to sections of the electorate or regions of the country, that sort of thing.

And what would be the prospects of a different candidate if someone came forward to challenge KH?

(And whether it works like that at all anyway!)

Sorry, what??

Dont talk rubbish. Pretty sure Biden is not to blame for the situation in Palestine which is complex and spans many decades.

Are you now going to say that Trump didn’t start any wars? 🥱

Biden’s administration has provided virtually without interruption the 2,000lb bombs being dropped on Palestinian children, and vetoed all resolutions at the UN attempting to restrain the government of Israel, which contains a self declared fascist and a convicted terrorist. He’s a genocide enabler.

Callmemel · 21/07/2024 22:21

I've just been reading Aaron Sorkin's essay on why the Dems should nominate Mitt Romney to thwart Trump. Strange times!

Lammarammma · 21/07/2024 22:21

Very sad to hear this. I wish him well and hope he can enjoy his retirement.

Arraminta · 21/07/2024 22:21

Oh thank God. Have just watched a montage of all his falls, vague wanderings off and verbal confusion over the last 12 months and it's both pitiful and horrifying.

I'm saying Gavin Newsome or Josh Shapiro. I don't think they'll pick Kamala Harris at all.

I think Shapiro could pull in more conservative and swing voters than anyone else that comes to mind.

I don’t think Newsome is a great candidate as many American feel he’s presiding over the massive mess in California.

Emmanuelll · 21/07/2024 22:22

Bunbry · 21/07/2024 22:15

Did Trump start any wars?

Yes, he encouraged American people to riot. He tried to stop democratic process. Honestly, are you really so gullible?

QuickMember · 21/07/2024 22:23

Well, “what can be is unburdened by what has been,” says Kamala H. I’m sure all will be fine..

DownNative · 21/07/2024 22:23

After Biden's disastrous debate with Trump, Keir Starmer's comments a week ago or so has aged as well as curdled milk..... 👇

Here you go, @FinalCeleryScheme ... FWIW I'm a Brit who spends half the year in the US, and while I'm afraid it's not a terribly good source it covers the basics fairly well:

Kamala was unknown to me when she entered the race. I think honest people would say she was chosen to counter the “old white guy who has been a career politician for decades” problem.

...and yet Clooney and others have hosted fundraisers, political commentators have said he was on top form. I foresee a lot of senior Dems retiring to Israel before the ink is dry on the election result.

I think that's all he could say. "Good form' that day, good form, despite whatever else... I found it a safe comment tbh.

"Seemed a teensy bit senile" might have been a shade undiplomatic 😁

What else could he have said? ‘He ought to be in a care home’?

CelesteCunningham · 21/07/2024 22:27

Yeah Starmer couldn't say anything else, and no one expected him to say anything else.

I thought “on good form” tended to be the kind of update someone might give about someone in a care home!

People are quite angry at Clooney.

He's wasted everyone's time and it's too late to catch up. He's handed the white house to ghastly trump.

Think positive thoughts they can not give it to a man with a criminal record Americans will be looked at as a joke.

Edited

Ah interesting. I was under the impression Newsome was pretty popular

AInightingale · 21/07/2024 22:32

'Issues would be if she’d be President or Obama would be driving her and would she be taken seriously on the world stage as the wife of a former President with little political experience of her own. Especially in issues relating to the mess in the Middle East and China/Russia.'

Quite. I can't see how it would represent an advance for women at all. She would be a gracious figurehead, little more.

Sorry but I really can't see America having a female president in the next 30+ years.

A reminder that Hilary Clinton won the popular vote.
