Someone who keeps quoting supposedly hilarious lines from films they've seen at you? Aaargh I can't stand it much longer!

Bloody wordle score. Even now still on the what’s app group. It would not really be a problem if it always come when I’m driving in the car and it gets read out.

one yellow square emoji
two green square emoji
two yellow square emoji.

wouldn’t mind but everyone does it every morning. So my drive to work is blooming square emojis for twenty mins. Argggggg

Well starter for ten, what film is this from?

You say that it's funny, @HRTQueen , but no word of a lie, many years ago while looking after my MIL, the doorbell rang around the usual time, and it was her carer for the evening who'd come to get her ready for bed.

This particular day, it was a lady I'd never seen before. I invited her in, asked her name, and she said "Matron".

Well, have you ever seen that episode of "The Royale Family" where Nanna talks about her eye surgeon being called Michael Crawford, and then goes "You know, like OOOOH BETTY!" and then screams with laughter? Well, she was everything I had to try so hard not to be for the 27 & three quarter minutes that followed.

Yes I have 😆

I often laugh when it’s inappropriate (reflected in the shows I like) and woods have struggled not to

Ghost!

SpeculatingRooks · 16/07/2024 22:46

Molly you're in danger..
You can't just tell her like that, I'll tell her in my way..
Molly you in danger girl!
(As accurate as I can remember!)

Ghost!

When you think there were at least three major actors in that film, and when you think of all the lines that Whoopie Goldberg got, some unrecognisable lady stole the entire show in that one scene. I roar laughing even at the thought of her saying it.

Same! I'm laughing now, shaking the cat!

Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once...

Famous catchphrases I like. Random bits of script from things I barely know (and didn't find funny anyway), I find very irritating. Boring conversation anyway.
😂

But oh the horror of the day when you realise that well-known catchphrase is no longer well-known, because everyone around you is so much younger.

I have a friend who is, shall we say, "voluptuous". She once bent down in front of me to unload her washing machine, and without thinking I said -in a faux French accent- "Toootal Eeeeeclipse!".

When she'd finished wiping the floor with me, how we laughed, really we did.

It wouldn't work now.

My dd is in her 20's and regularly says "Don't panic, Mr Mainwaring!!!" and "Ooh Matron" so some catchphrases do enter the national psyche. Come to think of it, she also says "Don't look, Ethel".

BogRollBOGOF · 17/07/2024 16:51

The detailed ailments of people you don't know. Especially when the whole social circle are called Margaret, Barbera or John so you're not even sure whose ailments are being discussed.

Also people not explaining who the tedious person that they're talking about is. Oh, I'm supposed to know intuitively know all your second cousins am I?

Yes! Well known catch phrases I like. But when it's endless lines of dialogue from a film that I've either never seen or don't like,it gets extremely irritating. Especially when it happens several times over the course of a 2 or 3 hour meet up!
