Name stamps or stickers - which do you recommend?

What are the best name stamps or stickers? Where did you get yours?

I've just been using Sharpie pen until now but new school, so new uniform to label! I've seen adverts for all sorts but need some honest recommendations.

Stikins

Danikm151 · 13/07/2024 09:09

Tinyme

i’ve just got some stickers off amazon- £6 for 40- apparently they will stay on the label.
you can also get iron on ones or sew in but they’re a faff.

Durdledore · 13/07/2024 09:09

Stikins all day for me

Caferouge · 13/07/2024 09:10

Stickins.

lavenderlou · 13/07/2024 09:10

Stickins here too. Have used them for years and you can put them on equipment etc too. I'm a primary teacher and have noticed the stamps seem to fade.

Procrastinates · 13/07/2024 09:10

Stamps work better than stickers in my experience as a parent and teacher. However, no matter which you choose I recommend using them in multiple places not just the main label which can be cut out.

DillyDeclutter · 13/07/2024 09:11

I have stikins, they're expensive but work well. Can be stuck in at the last second when child insists on an unlabelled coat to leave the house in.

Haven't tried a stamp, they seem more faffy.

Flubadubba · 13/07/2024 09:11

Another one for Stikins. Cheaper on Amazon, weirdly. Totally indestructible.

FaintlyMacabre · 13/07/2024 09:17

Stikins are really good. I got a huge batch with just our surname (relatively uncommon, would not recommend if you were called Smith) as we have 3 DC and it was getting confusing with hand-me-downs. Time will tell if that was a good idea!

ClonedSquare · 13/07/2024 09:19

We have stickers from Easy2Name and they've never come off on their own. But when I want to pull them off to sell/donate the clothes, they come off no problem.

We tried a couple of different stamp brands and they usually blurred on the tags and faded quite quickly in the wash.

Elisheva · 13/07/2024 09:20

Stikins. You can get your name printed twice on each sticker and then cut them in half so they’re even more cost effective.

OldTinHat · 13/07/2024 09:22

Always a Sharpie!

Stick with what you know, OP!

TeenDivided · 13/07/2024 09:22

Woven name tapes for me (old fashioned, but reliable). Stickers for water bottles etc.

Needanewname42 · 13/07/2024 09:23

I use Easy2Name too. Never had an issue with them.

Obeseandashamed · 13/07/2024 10:01

Statistic for us.my eldest has stuff that was labelled 8 years ago and it's still readable x

MrsStottlemeyer · 13/07/2024 10:03

Laundry pen for clothes and label maker for anything else.

Omg genius

One of my schoolfriends had John Smith Jessica (not real name) printed on her labels and her mum folded them over so her stuff always said Smith Jessica. She was a bit miffed about it.

susey · 13/07/2024 18:37

Ooh thanks everyone. Looks like stikins are worth looking at then!

Always a Sharpie!

Stick with what you know, OP!

All the new items though - it'll be much quicker with a sticker or stamp!

I really like the Petit-Fernand stickers, I find the Tinyme ones don’t last long in the washer.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 13/07/2024 19:13

We use stick on labels (think ours are from woven labels). I put my mobile number on the labels as well as the kids name. I also taught the kids that if they ever got lost to get my number from one of the labels.

Sprogonthetyne · 13/07/2024 19:31

I find the stamp always smudges until it's difficult to read. I use stickers for water bottles and lunch boxes, the sew in labels for cloths and coat. Sharpie is probably faster though.

ChocHotolate · 13/07/2024 19:37

Stamps fade and I've found that the stickers only stick well to the labels when you really need clothes labelled at the neck where it's is easily visible.
I'm going back to sewing this year 🪡😢
