Holly Willoughby case.. 15 years isn't long enough

Houseplanter · 12/07/2024 22:20

I watched the judge summing up and sentencing earlier

He's been found guilty of planning the most horrendous things, and understandably they have been life changing for Holly on every level.

Sentenced to 15 years, which I doubt he will serve

I just can't get my head round it.

I have been saying the exact same thing to dh. 15 years is nothing for the terrifying things he had planned. He'll only be in his fifties when he gets out. He's clearly really fucking dangerous. I just don't understand why the sentence is so light.

OhHelloMiss · 12/07/2024 22:23

Why don't you think he will serve 15 years?

Supersimkin7 · 12/07/2024 22:25

You serve 50 percent of your sentence. He’s already done some if he was on remand.

He weighs 35 stone. Nature might fix this.

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 12/07/2024 22:25

He will serve 15 years minimum - as his sentence is LIFE with a minimum of 15 years. It's not just a 15 year sentence. He could do 25-30 years! Or even LIFE. Hope he does do life! Vile, hideous, repugnant, grim, gross, incel. I feel nauseous when I look at it.

Poor Holly. I hope she will be OK. Probably hugely relieved that he's behind bars now!

.

Sarah2891 · 12/07/2024 22:26

It was a minimum so yes he will serve 15. I was surprised he got that long to be honest. Obviously I wish he'd got longer.

The release at halfway point (or 40% as of today) does not apply to cases like these.

DrRiverSong · 12/07/2024 22:38

His is a whole life tariff with a minimum term of 15 years and 85 days. He’ll serve every minute of it and, unless he can persuade the parole board he’s no longer a danger after that time, probably more.

OonaStubbs · 12/07/2024 22:40

Why are prison sentences so short in this country?

Short? It's whole life? The 15 years is the minimum.

I bloody hope so. Filthy disgusting animal. Although he will probably lose a lot of weight in prison.

sarahtalkstoomuch · 12/07/2024 22:58

It’s a life sentence with a minimum of 15 years so he’ll serve every day of that, and probably more.

If he had been sentenced to 15 years, he’d be eligible for release after serving less time

whathasitgottodowiththepriceofoliveoil · 12/07/2024 22:42

It's 15 years. He could be out in 15 years.

Look at all the criminals they are releasing now because the prisons are full.

The rights of criminals seem to greatly outweigh the rights of law-abiders.

LuckySantangelo35 · 12/07/2024 23:09

Agreed op

StripedPiggy · 12/07/2024 23:15

I very much doubt that Jabba the fucking Hutt will still be wasting oxygen by inhaling it in 15 years time, so the theoretical length of his sentence is academic. It’s called morbid obesity for a reason…

Floralnomad · 12/07/2024 23:17

He will not be released in 15 yrs , if he lives that long , I can’t see him getting past a parole board very quickly with his history . I reckon he will be in until his 70s at least .

OonaStubbs · 12/07/2024 23:36

If "he will not get released in 15 years", why set the minimum sentence as 15 years?

JeremiahBullfrog · 12/07/2024 23:53

Rightly or wrongly, 15 years to life is actually a really long time just for planning something, especially as the judge didn't think he'd ever actually have been able to manage it.

If "he will not get released in 15 years", why set the minimum sentence as 15 years?

He has a life sentence. Eligible for parole in 15 years. He will have a job proving he's not still a menace.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 13/07/2024 22:02

Given his past behaviour he'll always be a risk to women.

AzureAnt · 13/07/2024 22:06

OonaStubbs · 12/07/2024 23:36

If "he will not get released in 15 years", why set the minimum sentence as 15 years?

Because after 15 years he can apply for parole but he won't necessarily get it. It depends upon his behaviour in jail.
Hopefully the useless lump of lard will cark it before that

GinBooksChocs · 13/07/2024 22:14

I do wonder about the other men he was discussing this with and if anything happens to them?

GirlOverboard123 · 13/07/2024 23:22

It was a minimum of 16 years, which is a good long sentence, considering he clearly didn't have the physical or mental capacity to carry out his online fantasies. Actual murderers don't get much longer sentences than him. Take Fiona Beal as a recent example - she tied her boyfriend up, stabbed him to death and buried him in the garden - she only got 20 years minimum. Plumb obviously has serious issues and I hope he's getting appropriate help in prison.

AffIt · 14/07/2024 00:00

'Father of two' - how?

How insanely fucking low would your bar have to be to actually have sex with that?

OonaStubbs · 14/07/2024 00:57

Thank god for the two child benefit cap.
