Does anyone else have this advert with the creepy AI girl advertising lenses?

I feel like it’s currently the only advert on Mumsnet. She follows me into every thread. In over 40 years of choosing glasses and lenses I can honestly say I’ve never chosen a lens by name. Isn’t that the opticians job? 🤷‍♀️

@Alocasia Do you know how they work? Wish these had been around in the 90s when I was little, maybe wouldnt have ended up on a minus 7

Me too!

AlpineMuesli · 11/07/2024 15:13

I see her when I close my eyes.

Never seen it before.

I've never bloody heard of Dalaman except by seeing the MN promotions! Nobody I know has ever mentioned going there and I had no idea what country it was even in until this thread!

lalaloopyhead · 11/07/2024 15:16

She has recently appeared down the side of posts for me - I think she looks like a Disney character and wonder why they didn't use a real person.
The main one I get within posts is a picture of a cockapoo (haven't actually looked what the advert is for) and although a tad annoying, less unsetteling than the AI girl.

TwinCheeks · 11/07/2024 15:16

TBH I thought it was a boy. But the reality is AI androgyny I suppose.

Minimum85percentCocoa · 11/07/2024 15:16

That advert is on at least four times in every page of this thread for me. Still couldn’t tell you the name of the product without going back and checking (can see the creepy girl when I shut my eyes though)

Alwaystimeforacupoftea · 11/07/2024 15:22

I think she is creepy, but it's a clever ad- she has had her eyes altered to show she has some slight eye issue, whereas you wouldn't want to have a picture of a real child with a slight eye problem, would you? Plus I wish I'd had these for me as a child, and my children who aren't as badly effected. Stopping my myopia reaching -11 and -10 would have been fantastic, as I can't wear contacts in later life and eye surgery is also not on the table sadly, so it's bottle glasses or nothing. I think it's quite an effective ad!

JanglyBeads · 11/07/2024 14:08

They're made of hundred of tiny hexagonal lenses which train the eye to do the right thing, or something. Worked for my DD too.

How much did it work, did it correct her vision or just slow it down?

My poor DD is only 6 and she's already got a prescription of -7

Fernhurst · 11/07/2024 16:30

Yes, I get that. I don't know why, as it's not relevant to me. I don't think I've googled anything to do with it. The girl does look very fake.

IamaRevenant · 11/07/2024 16:35

I've just gone through your thread and the advert appears 8!!! times.

I've also got it at the top of my screen constantly and all over other threads. It's more annoying than that Mark Warner 'vacay' ad that mumsnet keeps pushing on Active!

JanglyBeads · 11/07/2024 16:49

@howaboutchocolate they can't correct the myopia just stop it developing further.

TwinCheeks · 11/07/2024 16:50

So in theory you'd need the same prescription forevermore if they stop it in its tracks.

I see her when I close my eyes.

She’s coming for you in your sleep.

Serious serial killer vibes even without her following you round everywhere.

MeAgainAndAgain · 11/07/2024 17:09

I’m kicking myself because I don’t have shares in the company 🤣.

And yes, Dalaman. What’s that all about then?

JohnTheRevelator · 11/07/2024 17:24

Yes! I find it rather creepy. Glad it's not just me.

AlpineMuesli · 11/07/2024 17:31

Good news everybody, the AI glasses girl enjoyed her recent stay in Dalaman.

You. Simply. Must. Go.

PercyPhelps · 11/07/2024 17:39

She is following me onto every thread.

I’m deliberately not googling Dalaman as I don’t want them to assume the advertising worked. I remain ignorant.

XenoBitch · 11/07/2024 17:47

My screen is covered in this ad.
And I just popped out to the shops, and the local optician has the ad in their window too!

JohnTheRevelator · 11/07/2024 17:47

MySocksAreDotty · 11/07/2024 08:59

I was thinking the same! She looks aged 6 yet also aged 45 at the same time. Super creepy. It really catches my attention though, which I guess is the point.

This is exactly what I thought! Looks like a child but somehow managing to look a lot older.

Fernhurst · 11/07/2024 17:50

A young girl with a hint of granny.

It only slows it down/stops the progression. I would still recommend it, better keep your DD at -7 than let her vision get worse IMO. Not cheap though.
It seems to have worked on both my DC.

FyodorDForever · 11/07/2024 18:28

TwinCheeks · 11/07/2024 14:57

Ah sorry I confused a prescription of 6 with age 6! It is amazing that it's slowed it down to zero.

Sorry that was badly worded. She is 10yo and has just (today!) switched the myosmart glasses for myosmart contacts.

FyodorDForever · 11/07/2024 18:30

As a side note, as this thread seem full of parents with DC with high myopia: I recently found out that you can buy swimming goggles with a correction, life changer!
