Does anyone else have this advert with the creepy AI girl advertising lenses?

I feel like it’s currently the only advert on Mumsnet. She follows me into every thread. In over 40 years of choosing glasses and lenses I can honestly say I’ve never chosen a lens by name. Isn’t that the opticians job? 🤷‍♀️

Yeah it's wierd

goneaway2 · 11/07/2024 10:08

Nooooooooooo. Make it stop!

Hvjudefjhfdr · 11/07/2024 10:12

It looks like a scary child robot, and it’s all the way through this thread.

mm.. lovely AI image.. not.

dudsville · 11/07/2024 10:16

Aha, it's AI? That explains the full on creepiness. That image is so oddly terrifying!

Lifeisamysterytome · 11/07/2024 10:20

I'm glad you started this thread because I thought it was probably just me who really found it weird.

Having said that I heartily dislike the majority of the Ads that appear in the MN threads. They certainly would never induce me to investigate the products further let alone buy them.

Pudmyboy · 11/07/2024 10:27

Yes as others say, it's appearing multiple times on this thread!😲

RainbowZebraWarrior · 11/07/2024 10:27

This is obviously being pushed massively and yes, it's been following me too.

DD has myopia and we were given a leaflet with this image on a few months ago by the optician, now it's followed me here!!

These Stellest lenses that 'can help slow myopia' are an additional £350 for children's spectacles. They also like to make sure to get in that "screens don't help blah" just to try and guilt trip you into buying them.

I didn't buy them.

Yes i always think the ads here are weird. They never seem relevant to me either. A few years ago I had a lot of personal insurance ads by an American company. I’m not American. I’ve never been to America. I wasn’t googling anything about America. Well, when I got so many adverts I googled the company to see what was what, but only after a month of having them.

I’ve noticed with AI women their heads are always too round.

Gatekeeper · 11/07/2024 13:30

i posted about this yesterday and also asked Lilymumsnet to intervene!! It's got to the stage where I am reading with partially closed eyelids

ParrotPirouette · 11/07/2024 13:35

Me too.
Not sure it is possible that you can ‘slow down myopia’ so I’m very sceptical but I’m definitely not clicking on an advert to find out.
reminds me a bit of my parents telling me my eyes would be square if I watched too much television.
or masturbating would make you blind 🤣

Opticians who offer myopia control HAVE to mention it to you though. It’s not a ‘guilt trip’. The technology really seems to work for the majority of kids who use it. It would be unethical not to present it as an option. Of course a lot of parents can’t or don’t want to pay, or don’t care, but it’s good to raise awareness that myopia can be controlled.

MonsteraMama · 11/07/2024 13:40

Yes she's haunting me like a Japanese horror movie ghost.

It's not even good advertising, I don't have anyone in my family this would be relevant to. My phone is obviously failing at listening in properly to give me appropriate ads.

Mischance · 11/07/2024 13:40

Well ... that's increased their advert coverage! ... well done OP! Are they family!!!??? 😂

hexsnidgett · 11/07/2024 13:42

She is annoying, but it makes a change from all the Turkish holidays.

UpUpUpU · 11/07/2024 13:42

7 times on this thread alone!!!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 11/07/2024 13:43

Omg it’s after every post on this thread 😂

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 11/07/2024 13:43

😂 I rest my case!

Makemydaypunk · 11/07/2024 13:47

I find it really disconcerting a bit like those China dolls people collect. It also annoys me that they have chosen a badly produced AI image rather than actually paying for a child model, slippery slope.

ShakespearesSisters · 11/07/2024 13:49

I work in optics. There are myopia control glasses and contact lenses that slow down the progression on a minus prescription, lots of research and trials into it. They only work for children so mumsnet is a good place to be getting the word out. But she is a strange looking young lady.

Nesbi · 11/07/2024 13:49

God knows why they thought that image was remotely appealing!

on the other hand, we got these lenses for one of our kids over a year ago and they appear to have done exactly what they were supposed to do (massively slow down rapidly worsening myopia) so we have been really pleased with them.

Inequalityfloopy · 11/07/2024 13:50

Yes! She haunts every page
