I don't know what happened to today but I forgot I needed to go shopping, felt tired, couldn't be ars*d to cook and raided the freezer. We had - fish fingers, mini potato waffles, onion rings and sweetcorn with as ketchup and / or mayonnaise... they loved it sometimes wonder why I bother making any effort at all Grin

I'm going to have to divvy up some veg tomorrow!!

PS we ate it on the sofa with cans of coke - might as well go for it

Sounds like an excellent evening!

ghostbusters · 08/07/2024 20:42

Yup. I had chicken nuggets. DC#1 had fish fingers. DC#2 had a sausage roll and beans. DH made himself a fried egg sandwich. Oven chips and frozen peas for some...

ShyCrab · 08/07/2024 20:44

The sweetcorn balances it out OP. We call this a ‘dirty tea’ in our house. Lovely.

We had a nice dinner tonight - garlicky chicken, mash, green beans and sweetcorn. But that's only because Mondays are the only day we both wfh.

Tomorrow DH will be in London till late so it will probably be pasta or something on toast!

spikeandbuffy · 08/07/2024 21:15

All microwave food
Aldi frozen prawns in pesto
Frozen steam bag of veg
Microwave rice

TheChosenTwo · 08/07/2024 21:18

Not rubbishy just nothingy!
Dh was on leftovers from last night, dc had anchovy pasta and I had nothing as I have wisdom tooth pain and I couldn’t face eating anything. it’s not actually that bad, it’s just rumbling and feels swollen when I bite down so I’ve avoided any biting down!

The sweetcorn was to assuage my guilt... now shoveling down a tub of ice cream I found at the bottom of the freezer... past caring

Coke on the sofa pushed this into excellent.

DH managed to make a could concoction tonight. A school dinner of the 80s. Chewy gammon, overcooked potatoes peeled, frozen veg and lumpy gravy. It was alarming!

DDs had a normal dinner (burgers, homemade wedges & salad) but I had nothing and have just warmed up some foccacia we got at the Italian yesterday. DH is away for work and I don’t feel like cooking now!

Butteredtoast55 · 08/07/2024 21:48

Too tired for much so it was a slice of (decentish) white bread, a piece of cheese, some cherry tomatoes and olives. Lots of water and a piece of lemon drizzle cake.

BreakfastAtMilliways · 08/07/2024 21:48

Well ours wasn’t ‘rubbishy’ exactly, it was mushroom stroganoff with spaghetti, but with the amount of butter and creme fraiche that went into it I’m sure it’ll win no prizes for healthy eating.

Justlovedogs · 08/07/2024 21:50

Yep, similar here. Wanted something quick and easy that I didn't need to think too hard about. Ham, egg, chips and beans it was. 😋

Theredjellybean · 08/07/2024 21:51

Dirty tea....I've peaked...
Love it
Today was also freezer bingo
So chicken nugnugs for some ...a couple of fish fingers and some oven chips and bask browns to make up the numbers.
Thought I was defrosting Ratatouille for veg...turns out it was stewed plums..not the idea accompiment to beige gloriousness

Perfectlystill · 08/07/2024 21:54

I made a Mexican spicy pork with homemade pineapple and lime and coriander salsa.

Had very high hopes but it was too spicy.

Still, I'm pleased with myself for trying something new.

dyethedress · 08/07/2024 22:01

A freezer pie, chips and peas here. Absolutely delicious, but not a culinary masterpiece!

ssd · 08/07/2024 22:06

I had a ready meal going cheap in the co op because it was almost out of date.

But i made ds and dh chicken curry.

I dont know whats wrong with me i cant eat anything i make🤦‍♀️

XenoBitch · 08/07/2024 22:07

A reduced salt & chilli chips from Tesco.

polkadotorganisedchaod · 08/07/2024 22:13

Beans on toast but actually really enjoyed it.

SandPoppit · 08/07/2024 22:27

Used to regularly give my children/teens grilled fish fingers, peas and a couple of slices of bread and butter on the side of the plate. They honestly didn't ever mention the absence of oven chips! Just can't bear the time it takes them to cook and how if they go a moment too far, they're suddenly rock solid.

So DIY fish finger sandwiches really.

Not a fan of waffles and onion rings....and hash browns are an abomination! But I impulse-bought fresh potato croquettes today and looking forward to having them with baked beans.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 08/07/2024 22:31

Me - beans, veggie sausages, fried eggs
Dd - beans, chips, chicken kyev
In my defence, i didn't know what time dd would be in, so 'cooked' separately for us.

Houseplanter · 08/07/2024 22:36

Fish finger sandwich.

White bread, proper butter, salad leaves and tartare sauce.

Marvellous.

Snackarooney · 08/07/2024 22:39

For DH & DS's Portion of chips from the chippy, frankfurters in a pan for 5 mins and into hot dog rolls then unwrapped the chips they were optimum temperature. Went down a treat, I also don't know why I bother sometimes cos this was much more appreciated.

I had tuna salad.

Late night visiting potential schools then to aldi for a quick but shop ended up seeing so many people and stopped to chat to them all so before we knew it, it was 6:30 and nobody had eaten so it was what it was

Aproductofmyera80s · 08/07/2024 22:41

We call it a shit from the freezer dinner.
DS had chicken pakora strips and cheesy chips.
dd has cheesy hash browns. Salt and pepper chicken bites and spaghetti hoops (leftover from Saturday)
i had some chicken strips with salad in pittas
and my mum had hash browns, breaded chicken strips and salad
we got rid of about 5 packets from the freezer.

me and dd had irn bru and DS had coke lemon. DP ate out after work.

tomorrow doing something substantial with veg to balance it out 😂

AquaFurball · 08/07/2024 22:41

Cornflakes, a banana and a handful of roasted pistachios in their shells.
