Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa & pondering what to have for breakfast. Probably cereal since I cba to actually make anything. It's nice and quiet apart from the elephants kittens bounding about with their toys.

The washer's on already so I can tumble dry my decent pair of jeans for this afternoon, and there's a second load sorted. I could do with cleaning and tidying the kitchen this morning - it's barely been touched this week & last night's pots are still on the side to be washed 🙄

I'm off out to the local with work friends this afternoon. We'd not planned to go watch the footy but it'll be on & the pub will be heaving. I'm hoping for a seat 🤣

I don't think either of the girls have much planned - dd1 mentioned making a start on her summer work since she's not at work & dd2 will have the usual homework. Their dad did offer to take them out 🤷‍♀️

What about all of you? 🙂

Just catching my breath before dropping ds15 over to his friend's Mams' cafe where he is working today. ( he has severe adhd, so I'm not sure how the other staff their will cope with him. He'll be fine but chaos will ensue) I'm then heading 80 miles to visit my oldest friend and stay over with her tonight. I have booked her surprise tickets for the yoga picnic which is taking place near where she lives. It's tomorrow and she hates yogaHmm. Dd16 and her Dad got VIP tickets for a hurling or GAA match so they will be heading there later. My poor dogs and cats will be sad i am deserting them overnight but they will cope I imagine.

Morning @lucysmam
Still in bed drinking cappucino which DH just brought me up. I was on call last night so barely slept with the awful bleep going off throughout the night so feeling fairly groggy.
Looking forward to rest of weekend being work free.
No big plans today - will take DD1 to a friend’s house and me and DD2 need to go to town to get new school shoes. Will have lunch while we’re out as a treat I think as DD2 has done really well in her end of year exams. Also fancy a look around M&S food hall - I’m getting addicted to their frozen cherries! Need to find a new book too in Waterstones - just finished Still Life which was gorgeous.
Then visit my Dad and home to a film, pizza and early night.
Happy Saturday everyone.

Trying to get DS to do homework this morning.

Afternoon heading off to sales to see if I can find a dress for son's bar mitzvah in September. Probably going to King's Road, it's got a good selection of higher-end high street shops, you get nicer service than most high streets because it's a posh area and it's quieter than the West End. I think DH and DS will come with and maybe we'll find an outfit for DS too. Thankfully I just landed a decently paid job after a short spell unemployed (and while DH is working on getting his own business off the ground) so we have money coming in again. There's also some lovely places to stop for tea and cake, so will aim to do that.

Tonight going to a concert with oldest DC put on by the youth opera group my dad is a chairman of, and have volunteered to help them pack up afterwards.

Having coffee, waiting for the Tesco shop. Then I'll finish the snood I'm currently knitting. Thrilling life I lead.

CalicoPusscat · 06/07/2024 09:45

Don't know, feel a bit out of sorts this morning, tired.

I'd like to go to the shops but am expecting a delivery so have to wait in.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 06/07/2024 09:45

Good morning @Lucysmam and others. I have a washing on but it's towels so it'll go in the tumble dryer. I'm soft and dislike crispy towels. I've had two coffees and a tea and croissant. I've been to Aldi and shopped for Scotland, it seems. I bought apricots and will make jam later to go with the gooseberry jam I made earlier this week. Despite the forecast for showers, I'll water all the pots and raised beds. I have some fabulous strawberries growing in baskets and dgs1 will be thrilled. Tonight I'm having salad I think. Watermelon and feta with chicken (possibly). Enjoy your day.

AhBiscuits · 06/07/2024 09:48

Just waiting for DD to come out of gymnastics. It's the school summer fair today. I have to do an hour selling ice lollies and an hour on the lucky lollies stand. Should be fun 🌧 🙄
We're going to have pizza and snacks on the sofa later while watching the England game.

Good morning, been up since 5am with my 18 month old. About to leave for a therapy session while my husband takes our children out for a muddy forest walk. Then home to paint my hallway, mop the floors, change the beds, take the children to soft play, back home for the football while cooking a chicken dinner, then kids bath, story and bed times then hubby and I can finally crash with a glass of wine

JosieGrossie · 06/07/2024 09:56

Having my first lie in in about 3 months! DC away for the weekend and planning to buy some paint for the spare bedroom which is currently being done up. Any recs for greige colours?

Good Lord that sounds absolutely exhausting!! How on earth are you going to do all of that including painting a hallway?

RabbitsRock · 06/07/2024 10:02

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. DH brought me a cuppa in bed sometime after 7. Was going to go back to sleep but decided not to. Just been out to the chemist. Dishwasher is on & I’m contemplating putting a load of bedding on the line but there are heavy showers here. The dry clothes in the tumble dryer from yesterday need putting away. I’m fretting as there’s another drama with DD15 & I really don’t know what’s best to do. DH is home from work soon so we can have a chat about it. I’m working at 2 & will miss some of the England match but as it’s on BBC1, I can watch from the beginning. Easy tea of butcher’s black pepper sausages, chips & peas.

bookishblondie · 06/07/2024 10:03

@JMAngel1 haha well I can get a little over ambitious as my poor husband knows Grin

Sounds fantastic tbh x

RabbitsRock · 06/07/2024 10:04

MysweetAudrina curious as to why you’ve booked tickets for a yoga picnic when your friend hates yoga!

veiledsentiments · 06/07/2024 10:06

YD left yesterday, so have done her bedding and towels. Hoovered and mopped first thing before it gets too hot. Kitchen is clean because I’m the only one here and am too lazy to cook. No fun when it’s just you. Might take my kindle to the pool and read for a couple of hours. Will take the dog in the car later to get some shopping when it’s cooler.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 06/07/2024 10:09

Just back from supporting DH in Parkrun, stood in the pouring rain. Now warming up with a chai latte and toast. This afternoon is our village’s carnival so really hoping the weather improves quickly. DS and I are doing C25K at 11 with some friends.

MrsMouse03 · 06/07/2024 10:13

I'm still in bed with a cuppa as feeling out of sorts. I'll clean out the fridge later and get some shopping including some nice treats.
Will probably watch football later with some nice snacks.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 06/07/2024 10:27

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, it’s actually just stopped raining, so I am hoping I can put the washing out on the line in a while.
So far I have walked the dogs with DD who’s here for the weekend, made her a packed lunch because she’s just left for an orchestra rehearsal, put away a food delivery, tidied the kitchen and prepared lunch and dinner for later.
i’d like to carry on crocheting my blanket, a few more rows then the border.
Nothing else planned but hoping it dries up a bit for a dog walk later.

Hoppymclimpy · 06/07/2024 10:34

DD 13 has just made me a cuppa in bed....she knows I'm slow moving first thing! (physically disabled). We've decided to go and purchase a new gas BBQ despite it raining here since 4am. Leftovers for lunch then settle down for the football later with faitias for tea.
At some point I need to hoover the stairs, with DD's help as the lovely NHS OH team fitted banisters & grab rails as we've just moved so there's a bit of sawdust/brick dust around! DD needs to handover her washing currently being held hostage in her room so I can get that washed & ready for Monday but it's a chilled one here- still recovering from the last night on Thursday!

Topsy44 · 06/07/2024 10:40

Had 2 large cups of tea and a croissant, loaded dishwasher and now sat on sofa with DD12 and cat. DD is meeting 2 of her friends for a pizza at midday so I will have a few hours to myself which will probably involve (sadly) quite a few chores dependent on weather (if it’s dry will do some weeding/tidying outside and if not kitchen needs blitzing). Also got to clean inside of car as going out with elderly Mum tomorrow and she will comment if not clean and then I get cross!!

Then will try and watch some tennis later this afternoon while waiting for food shop and probably watch the football with DD later with some nice snacks.

MysweetAudrina curious as to why you’ve booked tickets for a yoga picnic when your friend hates yoga!

Because I think I know better than herGrin Either way it's something different to do together, in a nice atmosphere and there will be lots of food and other stuff to enjoy if she really doesn't want to do the yoga parts. It's a one day festival, I've paid 100e each for tickets, will drive us both and drop her home and hopefully we will just enjoy hanging out together. I love yoga btw. I do a class every day.

FlorencenotRatchet · 06/07/2024 10:43

Morning @lucysmam and all. Happy Saturday.
Just back from Parkrun. Breakfast done and washing on. Meeting up with a friend later for a walk and catch up. Will probably watch the football later.
Enjoy your day everyone.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 06/07/2024 10:48

I’ve not been awake long. Had a restless night. Just having coffee and contemplating which part of my hideously untidy house to tackle first.

DH is on nights so will get up at about 4 and will be heading to work at 9.

DS and his girlfriend are working from 1.

DD is going out shortly to a music festival with friends.

I need to take my Mum to Tesco later to get her a new mobile. Apparently hers doesn’t work but she can’t actually tell me what is wrong with it. She only uses it to make calls and she called me from it to tell me it didn’t work!

Ill be home alone until late so I think I’ll get something quick for dinner while I’m out and have a K drama evening.

mamaduckbone · 06/07/2024 10:57

Good morning @lucysmam and all.
I've been for my morning run, showered and had coffee and breakfast.
I've got the house to myself at the moment - Dh is at work, ds1 is on his post A-level lads holiday to Zante, heaven forbid, and ds2 has gone volunteering at Oxfam.
I've hoovered through, put a wash on and emptied the dishwasher - that's it for housework today.
This afternoon I'm going to the village fete where I work to help run the school stall, then calling to see my mum.
Tonight it will be football no doubt, Thai chicken curry and an early night. We've had a couple of busy weekends and really I could have done with a day of nothing today. Hopefully tomorrow will be chilled, as we have absolutely zero planned, although it's ds2's birthday on Tuesday and I've done nothing for that, so making a cake will probably feature at the least.

Moier · 06/07/2024 10:58

Oh l do love these posts.
I've had a cuppa.. let the cat in and we are both just laid on the bed.
I can't move much at the moment.
Taking things slowly. I'm fancying a bacon butty.. .
My daughter put my zimmer at the bottom of my stairlift .. so going to try and put some in the airfryer.
Will be just a chill day.. watching telly.. Reading.. Internet ... and hopefully a good chat on the phone with my friend.
Have a great weekend everyone.
