Where is Larry the Cat ????

imfae · 06/07/2024 07:42

Haven't seen any sightings of him during all the tv coverage .

Has he given up and moved out - after his now 6 th family in the last 14 years ?

I know the chat is that the Starmers may not move in completely to No 10 or even No 11 and retain their own home elsewhere .

What happens as well if the new incumbents also have a cat or even worse a dog ????

Where is Larry ????

I saw someone trying to interview him.

Jifmicroliquid · 06/07/2024 07:44

He was there yesterday.

amymel2016 · 06/07/2024 07:44

He was sat outside yesterday just after Starmer went in. He’s employed by Number 10 so gets preference over other cat or dog.

I saw a picture of him there yesterday

BusyCM · 06/07/2024 07:44

He was outside the front after the dog had left.

Noosnom · 06/07/2024 07:45

He was asleep by the railings yesterday. He may have been popped inside so he didn't upstage anyone during the important bits.

amymel2016 · 06/07/2024 07:46

He’s just been on Newsround!

Toomuch44 · 06/07/2024 07:46

He was outside yesterday morning, lost his legs by the wall, ie under him! He might be outside a lot more now, as supposedly there's a new puppy coming with the Starmers.

mybeesarealive · 06/07/2024 07:47

They spent 5 minutes on him on the bbc while Sunak was preparing his exit from No.10. Apparently he is now 16. And is on his sixth PM. He was sat on a wall watching.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 06/07/2024 07:47

He is very active on Twitter, turns out he is left leaning so appears to be happy.

imfae · 06/07/2024 07:47

That's good that he has been sighted yesterday . I am sure he is thinking - oh no not another one !!!

Would be great if he could talk and give a low down on all the comings and goings .

See twitter- funny post yesterday of how he was in charge of the country as Sunak had stepped down but Starmer hadn't yet met the King.

ClockBiscuit · 06/07/2024 08:09

I saw him loads of times on the BBC. He was sunning himself on the right of the front door when the palace stuff was going on and on the bbc they said that in the fifteen minutes where there was no prime minister that the country was in safe hands.

imfae · 06/07/2024 08:16

Phew - he is still there . I wasn't able to watch the coverage until the evening and was then switching between channels .I didn't see him at all .

He was mentioned and featured on Channel 4 news last night by Krishnan Gurumurthy, as well as numerous sightings and references throughout the day. Live on Channel 4 News sometime between 7-8 last night he was curled up on the doorstep - in the rain although I presume it's sheltered. Krishnan was under an umbrella though.
Anyway he seemed to have got through yesterday unperturbed. I hope he's got a catflap somewhere and isn't dependent on the door being opened for him.

Ohdosodoffdear · 06/07/2024 08:25

What happens if the incoming doesn't like cats, would Larry go somewhere else, or is part of the T's and C's to look after him?

I'm sure that he has a cat flap round the back somewhere.

But it's much more fitting for him to have his staff open the front door for him when he requires it! And he has some of the policemen trained to knock on the door for him.

Exactly. He has his own team of full time professional door-openers so he doesn't have to go through the indignity of using a cat flap.

That cat is living the dream and all the other cats in the country will be insanely jealous of him.

LIZS · 06/07/2024 08:46

He was watching on yesterday from behind the railings

drspouse · 06/07/2024 08:49

I've just told the DCs about Larry and their minds were blown.

We'd have another general election. Larry stays.

fleabites · 06/07/2024 08:59

He was sitting outside behind the railings while everyone was waiting for Rishi Sunak to come out and give his speech. I was really hoping Larry would wander over to the podium to pose for photos but he didn't.
He didn't seem very interested in the shenanigans going on around him, presumably because he knows he's the real power there. After all, he occupies 10, Downing Street all the time, it's his house. Various lodgers come and go, none of them seem to stay very long.

BobnLen · 06/07/2024 09:05

Larry seemed to live there quite happily with Dilyn the dog, who didn't seem the best behaved.
