Just reading that the Exit Poll took pms d at a 130 polling stations.

That would mean (probably) no more than 13 polling stations in Scotland Confused - which is what Gary Gibbon has just acknowledged (as I type) on C4. "no degree of confidence ...."

Grantshappsotherusrnames · 04/07/2024 23:03

David TC Davies has thrown the towel in.
Maybe premature like BMA back in the day?

derxa · 04/07/2024 23:04

prettybird · 04/07/2024 22:55

@Grantshappsotherusrnames - iirc (from discussions a long time ago Wink) @derxa lives somewhere in in the Borders.

So no, not non-dom.

Yes @prettybird but I don't have a vote in Scotland. David Mundell the MP in the Scottish constituency where I live part time is a pretty decent Conservative. It is likely that some of the new labour MPs will be terrible just as some of the Tory MPs who came in at the 2019 election were scumbags

Notonthestairs · 04/07/2024 23:04

tobee · 04/07/2024 22:56

Quite likely that 13 Reform MPs will just fight amongst themselves "no I’m more racist than you!"

Edited

& that they haven't yet been vetted.

prettybird · 04/07/2024 23:04

"Took place at ...."

TaraTories · 04/07/2024 23:05

Nah Reform is just the old far right of the Tories who didn't like been hidden from the press by them mixed with BNP/UKIP. It's the old guard of the right fighting the right again. As I said on the other thread, we're more centre left as a country by a mile. Giving Reform oxygen just because the Tories are split when their votes combined couldn't win a raffle at this point is silly.

Champagnesocialismo · 04/07/2024 23:05

Wes Streeting looking a bit more human on the Beeb. Suits him

RafaistheKingofClay · 04/07/2024 23:05

I will eat my hat if reform still have as many MPs as they start with by the end of this parliament.

PerfectYear321 · 04/07/2024 23:05

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 04/07/2024 22:16

From the bbc website

"The exit poll, overseen by Sir John Curtice and a team of statisticians, is based on data from voters at about 130 polling stations in England, Scotland and Wales. The poll does not cover Northern Ireland."

Seems nobody cares about NI 💀

Thyroidthings · 04/07/2024 23:06

prettybird · 04/07/2024 23:00

@PerfectYear321 I forgot NI got to vote. You wouldn't think it as the coverage of them has been non-existent

Even ds, who works in Public Affairs, admitted tonight that he'd forgotten about NI, when I mentioned that the I thought the DUP would be hammered.

I heard DUP will be hounded out. Leaves a lot of Q's about EU and boarders for trade...Hope Labour have planned for that.

I'll give Nigel Farage a full on smacker.

I saw Lindsey Hoyle might lose his seat somewhere 😲

Deserved if so

I'm reckoning that so called 'shy Tories' have become emboldened Reformies.

That’s certainly what it looks like. And it’s understandable. Why would people who want lower taxes, smaller government & an end to uncontrolled mass immigration vote Tory? They have demonstrated that they have no intention of actually delivering those things.

If Labour has been very efficient with their vote. AC is just making this point, as has HH that for instance Starmer's majority may have reduced in his constituency. Smart campaign for FPTP.

Floods of tears then in the FWR boards. Not all.

TimeForRishiByeByes · 04/07/2024 23:08

Deputy leader still thinks the reforms are the true voice of opposition 😆😆😆😆😆

Iop · 04/07/2024 23:08

Can anyone explain where the 170 seat majority comes from? It's not 410-131, or 650-410... how do they calculate it?

Had to turn over to ITV from C4 as Nads followed by Ann Widdeccombe was a doing my head in.
Sunaks off to bed according to ITV.

Sunak's off to bed?! Really?! why am I surprised?

Laughed at that.

Notonthestairs · 04/07/2024 23:09

Exit poll seats by liklihood:

80%+ Lab 369
80%+ Con 80
80%+ LD 45
80%+ Reform 5
80%+ SNP 4
80%+ PC 3
80%+ Green 2

Too close to call 124 seats

prettybird · 04/07/2024 23:10

I wonder if any of the Reform candidates who left the party before today end up getting elected because their names were still on the ballot paper? Confused

Or worse, were kicked out because they were so vile but still get elected Shock

tobee · 04/07/2024 23:11

The good thing about Northern Ireland is it's (pretty) peaceful now so less significant, less concerning?

pinboard · 04/07/2024 23:11

Hello. I seem to have changed my username
I am really excited to join this thread.

Im sitting in the High Dependancy Unit with my Ds (he's not well but improving!)
I have a trusty old Thinkpad laptop (refurbished by Ds aged 14)
I can't get the internet in the Hospital (so please link to juicy bits) but, wierdly, I can get MN. Bloody HURRAH !!!
I have a bottle of apple juice & some fresh popcorn (Dd made at home & sent in for Ds & me, god love her). I have a home made Tory bingo card.

I offer this as a contribution:
(Ds wrote it, to be hummed to the tune of 'What comes Next' from Hamilton)

They say,
the Price of Inflation's not a price they are willing to pay,
Insane,You cheat with Farage
Now I'm fighting Labour & Remain
I'm so Blue
I thought you made an arrangement when you voted for us
You were ours to Subdue
Well, even despite our election
I've got a desperate policy for you
National service, you can vote
Unless you're all quick marched onto a boat
We're on our own (out of Europe)
Oh dear, I think I know what happens now
Parties rise, Governments fall
It was much wetter when I made the call
All alone, in Number 10
Now the people say they hate me
It's time for the Removal Men
Tra la la la la, la la la la la la la
Da da da da da daaaaa
We'll have no votes....

I think its really clever. I hope you like it.

I did not expect Scotland to vote for tories anywhere

I spoke to a Scottish colleague today (I'm in England) whose partner is a Tory the horror! She said she thought no Scots would elect Tories today.

We will see
