Thank you.
I'm not convinced by the BBC exit poll, it implies the tories did much better than I would have expected. Only 20,000 people though took part.

prettybird · 04/07/2024 22:11

...although new in from ds: there is no separate exit poll for Scotland, "a sample is extrapolated to include estimates for Scotland". Confused

It's going to be an interesting night Hmm

TrustPenguins · 04/07/2024 22:11

C4 have got some big names on.
And surely less biased than BBC...

TimeForRishiByeByes · 04/07/2024 22:11

I locked up tonight and said goodbye Tory Britain!

Lonelycrab · 04/07/2024 22:13

Cheers allWine

Its been a long 14 years but to think we’re finally out of the other side of it seem slightly unreal.

RafaistheKingofClay · 04/07/2024 22:13

I might be following you to sky in a minute. Was looking forward to their line up.

NotJinxingAnything · 04/07/2024 22:14

The Reform result, if it happens, doesn't particularly surprise me. It's a reflection of the European lurch to the right plus the natural home for right wingers who were pissed off with the Conservatives who couldn't bear to vote Labour or Lib Dem. I do question whether they can keep any sort of presence in Parliament, because Farage is so bloody lazy and so many of his followers are demonstrably horrible or mad.

It's based on a clever way of doing it - it's not an "opinion " poll as such.

Exit polls: How accurate are they? - BBC News

Exit pollsters at an undisclosed location (12 Dec)

Exit polls: How accurate are they?

The exit poll will give us the first clear indication of the election result - but how does it work, and are they accurate?

Nads trying to put a gloss on things!

This is a landslide by anyone's standards.

RishisLeavingDo · 04/07/2024 22:15

They already spinning it as not as bad as expected Hmm

Someone needs to send Widdecombe home to bed, she doesn't sound well.

prettybird · 04/07/2024 22:15

Buckland saying he'd "won 4 elections on the trot" ....

That's not saying much given how many elections recent Tory MPs (plural Wink) called Confused

I think the exit poll is the same for all broadcasters. They're reporting one on exit poll that was carried out.

Igotjelly · 04/07/2024 22:15

I’m hoping Reform have enough seats to show how shit they are without having any real power.

Maybe it will be a good thing. Sunlight and all that? I must say the Reform prediction is taking the edge of the joy for me.

From the bbc website

"The exit poll, overseen by Sir John Curtice and a team of statisticians, is based on data from voters at about 130 polling stations in England, Scotland and Wales. The poll does not cover Northern Ireland."

mibbelucieachwell · 04/07/2024 22:16

DH is still hoping that the reform prediction is inaccurate as the constituencies in question are all likely to be fairly marginal. Let's hope he's right.

SNP numbers are surprising too.

Watching C4. DAME Harriet Harman. Bet Nadine is spitting.

I think HH is being made a life peer...

Zonder · 04/07/2024 22:08

I'm sorry for Lib Dems if the exit poll is right.

Why? It's the best they've done for decades. I'm old enough to remember when the entire Parliamentary party could fit into a taxi.

Excited Seinfeld GIF

Exit poll looking tidy.

VoteOutToHelpOut · 04/07/2024 22:21

I am watching BBC. Laura K is trying very hard and failing not to looked pissed off.

Thyroidthings · 04/07/2024 22:23

Rory contradicting himself there about the Libs simultaneously being the only party talking about Europe, sewage and policy in detail...and apparently none of them? Yes, Libs were the ONLY party talking about those and social care.

The fact Reform took over interviews before the Libs got a chance was case in point as to how the media have created and supported Reform.

Champagnesocialismo · 04/07/2024 22:23

Ready! I think the Beeb is wrong. Labour will do better
