Choosing a user name

Half the fun on MN for me is looking at the fantastic user names on this site, and I wondered how you all chose your names some are so inventive.😃
I saw a Barn owl on tv and it was so clean and white winged that it sparkled.

I usually pick something from a current, bonkers thread.

Can't remember where/why "shittification" came up though.

I stay well away from anything that anyone could possibly link to me though.

I belong to a Knit 'n' Natter Group and am a very proud auntie so I combined the two!

Just anything I see in front of me at the time!

This is an old one of mine. There was a thread about hanging washing out and somebody said you were a peg freak if you had to have matching pegs on each item, something along those lines. I do need to have matching pegs on each item so it would have been rude not to use the name.

I have a notebook (used for other things as well, I'm not that much of a username freak) with a list of potential names. Some that seemed great at the time look ridiculous in the cold light of day so there are quite a few with a line through them.

I’ve got one that I use as my main name and then I name change at a whim, usually based on a particularly batshit thread of the moment.

Possibly time to find a new topical name, actually… the birthday biscuits are long stolen by some poor woman’s greedy DH.

Best not google peg freak in the porn world.

I remember the jam slags thread. No idea what a jam slags is and still none the wiser after a Google at the time!

@Redhothoochycoocher tbh nor am I 😆 I think it turned out to be a deeper version of a jam tart but it was never made sufficiently clear. Did you see that a particularly creative MNer went and made her interpretation of them and posted pics - they were basically jam vulvas?! That’s commitment to a thread, right there.

An abbreviation of my real name.

I just look at the random clutter around me and pick an object. Last time I namechanged, there happened to be a lever arch folder on the side, and my eyes fell on that first.

I started years ago as EmpressOfTheSevenOceans, my favourite book, then kept the EmpressOf & changed the rest of it every so often. I changed Empress to Empressaurus after Dinosaur Dave Lammy said his piece.

I usually get my (frequent) name changes from other threads. My current name came about because of a description of a person having an IQ equivalent to that of a Jaffa Cake.

I have my main name which i change regularly, usually something I've seen on here that's made me laugh.

Then a couple that i use for specific threads which are potentially outing.

I got inwardly frustrated at a prolific MN mansplainer and found myself thinking, "Oh there's Twatty McFuck Face again" as I clicked out of the thread.

Then I started laughing at myself for thinking it and so chose the name 🤣🤣

Well this will be outing and I'll have to immediately name change...

Colleague once got a request at work for some more Liberace files. That took a while to work out :-)

Was a bit of a Nirvana fan in my younger days, but I'm no longer in my younger days!

I chose this one when I was reading Kala (two of the characters are called Kala and Mush).

Mine are usually daft words/phrases either DH or DC have come out with.

Yes I always ended up changing them on a whim when a mad line from a thread made me laugh. I’ve had tons, but a favourite was probably BrunoBrookesDinedAlone 🤣🤣🤣

I was watching a tv programme in the background that had a carpet just like the one in the shining….and as I posted for the first time, I was thinking about the shining carpet 😆
