Picky teas not my best term but I got what op meant.

skippy67 · 02/07/2024 18:49

bookishblondie · 02/07/2024 18:47

Why?

I'm sure they'll be along soon to tell you why. I don't get it either, but then again, we have breakfast, lunch and dinner in this house. Never "tea"😅

AuntieDolly · 02/07/2024 18:50

Celery in a jug
Winkles
Bread and butter

Can you tell I'm a bit cockney? 😁

No eels?

Would they be in a jug if you did?!

KnitnNatterAuntie · 02/07/2024 18:51

Salmon en croute ~ beetroot salad ~ spiced potato wedges ~ macaroni cheese ~ peas & sweetcorn would be lovely

But I'd also be happy with a sandwich selection, some really nice sausage rolls, vegetable crisps and warm cheese scones with cream cheese & chilli jam

And for pudding please could I have some lime cheesecake with fresh mango and whipped cream ? Or a cupcake would be very nice

Picky tea seems to be MN verboten. On a thread this week someone was telling me you need to call it a buffet. Which is just weird for a family dinner! Anyway.

Cheeseboard
boiled eggs
beetroot
nice salads
crisps
crudites

bookishblondie · 02/07/2024 18:52

Sorry I'm new to Mumsnet and genuinely lost to the problem people have with picky plate/picky tea?

“Picky tea” aside, I love:

Home-made sausage rolls
Cheese, crackers, chutney and grapes
Tomatoes (best quality I can get)
Some kind of home-made puff pastry tart using ready bought pastry - goats cheese and onion or similar
Humus and crudités
quiche

ParrotPirouette · 02/07/2024 18:56

I like olives, cubes of feta, sundried tomatoes, fresh baguette, hummus, Chovi allioli (garlic dip) Very Mediterranean.

ilovebagpuss · 02/07/2024 18:56

Crisps
Crudités
Roast chicken

New potato salad
Quiche
Pickles
Olives

Beginningless · 02/07/2024 18:56

Basically it’s a bit like school here sometimes and people point their fingers and shout ‘weirdo’ about random things. Not to worry. Enjoy your picky tea!
