Awake- why are you?

I'm awake again not be able to get to sleep. I'm away for work so in a hotel. Nice hotel but my next door neighbour are celebrating something loudly.
Why are you awake?

I often don't sleep well. Annoyingly DH sleeps like a log.

Sympathise OP about the noisy neighbours. I remember staying in a hotel a few years back. Also a nice hotel but the people next door were really loud all night and I had to be up early the next day.

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/07/2024 02:09

Night shift

onwardandupwards · 02/07/2024 02:11

I have cystitis and it's keeping me up, at this point I may as well sleep in the bathroom.

Stressedgiraffe · 02/07/2024 02:11

They seem to have finished let's hope not round 2. I'm now just wide awake

I’m waiting for him to go to work in the morning to leave my DH. I’ve had my ducks in a row for a while and tonight he started his usual gaslighting abusive behaviour, something changed tonight in me and it’s like a flick of a light switch. As usual I’ll smile in the morning as if nothing has happened. That’s how it works in this house, he gets horrendously drunk, I go to bed, he comes to bed, calls me mad, nuts, pulls the duvet off me as he doesn’t have enough apparently tells me I’m imagining things he’s done or said…he forgets to lock up, has fallen tonight and taken a socket off the wall. Yet I’m the mad one. 18 years of this shit and I’m done. He can take his bottle of gin and four cans of Stella a night elsewhere. And yes people read that right, a full bottle of gin and 4 cans every night, I’m surprised he’s still living tbh. He’ll get up at 8 and function, like make his breakfast and and be normal. How can someone do that with the amount he drinks?

I’m sorry for bringing this happy thread down. I’m just really looking forward to tomorrow.

freckletwin · 02/07/2024 02:45

Good luck for the morning @ICanDoThis2024 .
Im awake because we pts our beloved dog yesterday and I woke up and as usual listened out for him 😔

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 02/07/2024 02:45

Good luck, @ICanDoThis2024.

I’m awake because I have Covid & I’ve just taken paracetamol for my aching back.

Sa11yCinnamon · 02/07/2024 02:50

Good luck @ICanDoThis2024, you absolutely can do this!

@freckletwin I'm so sorry for your loss.

I have a four week old.

Im feeling terribly sad for you @freckletwin !
and both worried for tomorrow for you and excited as well @ICanDoThis2024

You both need some positives in your life and I hope later in the day things start to look better.

Please come back and tell us how your days have been! ❤️ for the day!

charabang · 02/07/2024 03:03

I'm awake worried about work as I'm being forced to move teams to a chronically understaffed/overstretched area. I'm so sorry about your dog @freckletwin I lost my dog in October and miss her everyday. And good luck @ICanDoThis2024 I hope today goes well for you and beyond.

CalicoPusscat · 02/07/2024 03:05

@ICanDoThis2024 he must have one helluva dependency 😬
Sounds like you've planned well, so set sail and be free!

@freckletwin you miss them so much when they go 🐕

I just checked MN wondering if anyone else was up. I'm making lists and wondering how much I can get done this month. Need a hot drink so kettle ahoy.

PoopingAllTheWay · 02/07/2024 03:09

Does your hotel offer a peaceful night refund? Iv got a refund three times from Premier inn because of noisy neighbours

CheeseWisely · 02/07/2024 03:09

Hugs to both @ICanDoThis2024 and @freckletwin.

I'm up feeding our newborn.

WhereDoBrokenHeartsGo · 02/07/2024 03:10

My mum died recently and, most nights, I wake up not long after I fall asleep. I really miss her and am thinking about her.

On top of that, my DH is really irritating me so I’ve been compiling a mental list of all his recent flaws. I’m not even sure he’s done anything different or unreasonable but he isn’t exactly stepping up at the moment either.

andyourpointiswhat · 02/07/2024 03:11

Good luck @ICanDoThis2024 I hope it all works out for you and you go on to have a much better life away from your abusive alcoholic partner.

Lunchtime here in Aus and I will be going for a nap soon. 3yo DGD slept over last night and she has a horrible cough. I got up to check in her 26 times as the cough sounded like she was choking each time so am knackered. Her mum has just picked her up and is taking her to the doctor, funnily enough when she got an appointment for two hours after she called I thought of MN and all the people who struggle to see a GP.

Wigtopia · 02/07/2024 03:12

I feel pants. Flipping between overheating from all the blankets I have on, to feeling freezing cold even with the blankets on. It started as a mild sore throat Sunday afternoon but this Monday evening and over night now into the early hours it’s gone full blown bastard!

I hurt my knee just before going to bed. I was kneeling down, petting my dog, went to get into bed and something went in the inside of my right knee. It's agony. Not sure if I need to give to A & E.
Hugs to everyone hurting tonight, one way or another x

Tarkan · 02/07/2024 03:14

We've been visiting my parents and my fibro/insomnia has kicked in again, plus I never sleep as well when I'm away from home. I finally went to bed when I was feeling like I might fall asleep and DH has fallen asleep on top of the duvet and I can't move it so I'm also stuck on top of it and my pain-riddled body wishes it was just on the lovely supportive memory foam mattress instead. DH does this at home now and again too, claims lying on top of the duvet with a different cover is comfier but it's not for me. It's softer but I need the support of the mattress to help my dodgy bits for the following day. Going home tomorrow at least. I might just have a nap in my own bed once we're home.

Why oh why oh why did you have to mention putting the kettle on. Now all I can think about is having a cuppa 😆

Not the same level of issues you lot are dealing with but I'm concerned about my daughter's weight and 'D'H is sabotaging my efforts to cut her sugar intake. He bought her TWO FAMILY SIZED bags of Haribo, and suggested it was an end of term gift from her teacher!! (She told me otherwise).
I went to the baking cupboard to find my bottle of golden syrup AND the bottle of maple syrup practically empty when I'm sure they were at least half full last week because he lets her mix syrup in her yoghurt, have it on cereal, on her toast...
He takes her on the bus to her swimming lesson and buys her either a cake/biscuit from the cafe or an ice-cream afterwards. I walk (20 mins) to the Leisure Centre and she doesn't even ask for a snack but God forbid I put a packet of custard creams in the grocery basket. Then ALL the blame for her weight gain is on me.
We are on school holidays now in Scotland so we have the battle of the lunchbox. He thinks tomato soup, sausage roll, crisps and flapjack is fine. I pointed out all the hidden sugar, especially in the soup, and was asked for my dietician qualifications!
There is a local carnival this weekend and I suggested he take her (because I have a hair appointment) but she's already told me Daddy has said she can have candy floss.
He just doesn't get it and it upsets me so much. I feel like I'm failing her as her Mum.
