Awake- why are you?

I'm awake again not be able to get to sleep. I'm away for work so in a hotel. Nice hotel but my next door neighbour are celebrating something loudly.
Why are you awake?

My dd climbed in my bed and then wet the bed. So she's back in her bed whilst I've stripped all my bed and washed it and now sat downstairs knackered, there's probably no point going back to sleep for an hour.

Soonenough · 02/07/2024 04:52

Back in bed after wandering down stairs , emptying dishwasher, replacing stuff I moved to paint , trying to get a head start on the rest of the day. Dreading it .

CalicoPusscat · 02/07/2024 04:02

Oh no that's taking ages @Mischance, do you have things you need on you if you're admitted?

Unfortunately no I don't. Still awaiting blood result. Just snoozing in my chair.

NotYourHolidayDick · 02/07/2024 05:00

I stupidly decided to drink a bottle of wine while watching the footy last night, then had a couple of vodka and tonics. I've been wide awake for a couple of hours regretting all my life choices, stomach churning, and thinking I need help 😭

KatPurrson · 02/07/2024 05:02

Hello, I have a sleep disorder so often keep odd hours.

JonesTheSteam · 02/07/2024 05:04

Another one with COVID here. Just woke up with a horrible bout of coughing and had to take some paracetamol for the headache/sore throat.

Fudgetheparrot · 02/07/2024 05:09

DS is 11 months and has a horrible cold, he’s managed an hour in the cot here and there but mostly only sleeps sitting upright on DH or me and it’s currently my shift! Mumsnetting to keep myself awake but my eyes keep going out of focus

HelpMeGetThrough · 02/07/2024 05:14

I'm three coffees in. Better make a fresh pot in a minute for my OH.

Taxi duty this morning to take youngest and his mate to college early, as they are off on a Uni trip to visit. Think this one is Cardiff.

Stressedgiraffe · 02/07/2024 05:23

Managed a couple of hours sleep.
Now watching a Bon Jovi documentary on Disney. And eating crisps.
It's light

Had a horrible nightmare about drowning. Now got a headache. Have just made a cup of tea.

Nothing compared with what some of you are going through, though.

blackandwhitestripes · 02/07/2024 06:14

Got woken up at 1am and 4.30am because my giant dog has the runs. He squeaks and whines and it's like being back with a newborn, my brain wakes up!

I did chuckle at his funny run to the garden, I hope it settles today for him. I had all intentions of going back to sleep but just couldn't so now I'm up working in bed on my laptop with a coffee to clear some admin.

Sunsetchaser01 · 02/07/2024 06:19

After waking 4 times to pee in the night a further 3 times with hot flushes after struggling to fall asleep at all I am feeling done with menopause and sleeping. I am starting to hate going to bed. HRT is no wonder drug for me. Hoping everyone has a better day!

CalicoPusscat · 02/07/2024 06:28

Did they admit you in the end @Mischance?

I got admitted unexpectedly once, to be fair I thought it might take so long that it might trip into overnight so had slippers, face wash, moisturiser, bb cream and notebook.

That wasn't enough when it was a much longer stay than anticipated :)

Perfectlystill · 02/07/2024 06:35

Awake since half four as DH woke me up. He has to travel for work.

And I have to go out tonight. Urgh.

andyourpointiswhat · 02/07/2024 06:56

@Zippedeedooda sorry, just saw your post. We are in Sydney so definitely not rural 😁

Some GPs (increasingly fewer) “bulk bill” here which means they accept the
Medicare rate and you don’t pay but nearly all will bulk bill children. My doctor bulk bills under 16s and over 65s. When you pay you pay the gap between what Medicare covers and what the doctor charges so your out of pocket expense is usually around £30. The doctor told DIL to take GSD to the hospital which has a separate children’s A&E as her blood pressure was high and they will get test results back within an hour or two rather than the 1-2 days it would take through the GP. She has been diagnosed with a particular kind of pneumonia that is doing the rounds at daycare and was given antibiotics so all good and quickly sorted.

Admission is planned. Still waiting in a and e. I have nothing with me at all.

CalicoPusscat · 02/07/2024 12:18

@Mischance oh yikes - hope you are either settled into a bed or back at home now, that's an awfully long wait

Mischance · 02/07/2024 17:05

Just been admitted ..... that was a long haul. Angiogram in the pipeline. Thank you for your concern. Staff all very kind but so so busy.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 02/07/2024 17:15

Glad you’re finally in. Good luck.

CalicoPusscat · 02/07/2024 20:41

You must be so tired @Mischance hope you are getting some rest now. That was a long day/night!

Good luck with it 🌺

This thread saved my sanity last night. Thank you so much for the good wishes from so many of you. I’ve planned on leaving for years as I needed to make sure I had enough money to make a clean break and take my dog. There was no way I was leaving my dog behind and he’s probably the main reason I stayed for so long. I eventually managed to find a landlord who accepted dogs and I signed the agreement last week. My very kind friend is letting us stay with her until I move in on 12th. My life feels very upside down at the moment but I have a job, I can support myself and I’m really looking forward to a very peaceful life. I read so much advice that posters have given to others in similar situations to me on here and, for me, that advice has proved invaluable. It’s a very comforting feeling to have people you don’t know caring so much 💕

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 02/07/2024 21:32

You’re doing brilliantly, @ICanDoThis2024 .

CalicoPusscat · 02/07/2024 21:35

Fantastic! Your new life away from that man, well done for getting you and the dog out safely @ICanDoThis2024 💞

Tarkan · 03/07/2024 09:34

You're rocking it @ICanDoThis2024

I didn't post at the time but it was reading relationship posts on MN of people in similar circumstances that made me realise how awful my previous relationship was and I finally managed to make the break. If I hadn't been on MN I don't know how long it would have taken me to realise how bad things were. Or even if I would have done.

I know it's not easy and even once you're away the doubts can start to creep in but I just kept reminding myself of everything he did to me and telling myself to stop trying to downplay it all as that's so easy to do too.

It's definitely worth it in the long run though, I'm so much happier now and I hope you will be from now on too! 🥰

So pleased to hear you’ve got support from your friend and a plan in place. Keep going and continue to stay strong! 💪
