Which detective series is easy to watch?

I’ve already watched Father Brown and Shakespeare and Hathaway.

I’m ill with Covid(for the 6th bloody time) getting next to no sleep and need something that requires minimal brain cells to watch because I don’t have the energy or cognitive function to watch anything with too many characters or a complex plot. I don’t want anything disturbing either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA

McDonald and Dodds is great and pretty gentle.

Another vote for McDonald & Dodd
quite an old series has been on Drama recently The Last Detective stars Peter Davidson & Sean Hughes.

GlassofIce · 30/06/2024 11:09

I started to watch the first episode of Magpie Murders a couple of weeks ago when I’ll, and though I didn’t get that far, it felt likeable — good cast, in particular, and Lesley Manville has gorgeous clothes.

Newname2308 · 30/06/2024 11:15

Midsomer Murders
Magpie Murders
Murder in Provence (only 3 eps but enjoyable French-ish via be)
Madame Blanc mysteries on C5 - very frothy, not great but might be perfect for feeling under the weather

GrandHighPoohbah · 30/06/2024 11:15

Rosemary and Thyme
Marlow murder club

eish · 30/06/2024 11:19

Murder in Provence was wonderful. Sad there is not more than three.

Phineyj · 30/06/2024 11:19

Montalbano. They repeat all important plot points again and again and AGAIN 😂

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 30/06/2024 11:20

If you liked Father Brown then the Sister Boniface Mysteries (Alibi Channel) are a spin off.

Miss Scarlett and the Duke (Alibi Channel again)

Death in Paradise

Castle

FadedRed · 30/06/2024 11:24

Poirrot and Miss Marple
Another vote for The Last Detective, Madame Blanc and Cadfael
Beyond Paradise (though it’s a bit silly)

Deadloch on amazon prime. Hilarious and gripping.

DuesToTheDirt · 30/06/2024 11:29

+1 for Deadloch.

Cold Case on Amazon Prime - there are endless episodes and you can just dip into it.

AudHvamm · 30/06/2024 11:39

Young Moltanbano is also great.
Magie Murders excellent, possibly better than the books - script was written Antony Horowitz and I think some the visual concepts came across better on TV.
Just started Bodkin, good so far.

Whitstable Pearl is enjoyable
