What are you doing up?

Just that really, 1:45 in the morning. I’m up because my period is so bad the pain seeped in to my dream and I dreamt I’d been shot by Suge Knight (who I know mostly nothing about so I don’t know why it was him). Just waiting for painkillers to kick in and browsing. Why are you up? 😀

I was my husband's carer for some years and my sleep pattern got mucked up. He died during lockdown (heart attack) and things got worse.

I'll be going to bed shortly, but for the past 3 yrs I've been sleeping too late in the mornings because I can't face the day and then staying up too late when I've stopped panicking over getting through the day.

I'm not nearly as bad as I was. If I have a reason for getting up early, then I can do it. I've started going to the gym and that's helped.

Cocteautriplet · 29/06/2024 01:54

Woke up for a wee and my phone tempted me. I went to bed early 8,30 ish with my 4 yr old so probably won’t get tired enough to sleep again for hours

Pieceofpurplesky · 29/06/2024 01:55

I am up because I saw someone die today in a hospital corridor. I did not know them. They were on a trolley opposite be. When I close my eyes I see his eyes wide open and staring. The poor nurse had only left him a few minutes earlier .

Got my sister over for the night- lots of chats and a fair bit of wine in the garden and now time for bed...

Cocteautriplet · 29/06/2024 01:56

I’m so sorry for your loss Weary.

Thank you. That's very kind. He was a good age, but I wasn't ready to let him go.

Cocteautriplet · 29/06/2024 01:58

Piece - I’m sorry too. Have you talked about what you saw to anyone in RL?

CalicoPusscat · 29/06/2024 01:59

@Justanothernamechange1001 hope it kicks in soon.

@Pieceofpurplesky that would shake most people up, I assume you are still in hospital?

My sleeping is awry anyway but I started fretting about money earlier and now am worried about July

Apileofballyhoo · 29/06/2024 02:00

I'm usually up until around now. I get by on 5 or 6 hours sleep during the week and catch up a bit at weekends. Perimenopause has messed up my sleeping but I've always been a night owl. I like having time to myself at night when the house is quiet.

Justanothernamechange1001 · 29/06/2024 02:00

@WearyAuldWumman I’m sorry for your loss but I’m glad to hear things are slowly getting better. One day at a time

@Pieceofpurplesky I’m sorry to hear this. Are you okay? I experienced something similar in resus a few years ago and I still think of that man from time to time

Thank you. That's appreciated.

Right. I'm going to make myself go to bed. G'night everyone. Thanks for starting the thread Justnothername...

When you all eventually get to your bed I wish you sweet dreams.

Cocteautriplet · 29/06/2024 02:03

I was listening to an interview with a poet the other day who always writes in the early hours as it’s their special time when they won’t be interrupted… there is something lovely about having a few hours peace in the quiet!

Justanothernamechange1001 · 29/06/2024 02:03

@CalicoPusscat thank you. Sorry to hear you’re worrying, I know firsthand what it’s like to want to sleep but your brain won’t switch off. A problem shared is a problem halved, even if it’s with strangers on the internet

@Apileofballyhoo I’m the same although I’ve still got little ones at home. It feels like the only time I get to myself to just do nothing

Aw that sounds fab, what are you going to get up to?

This is another thing, I'm supposed to be going away in September with a friend so it'll be a tight July and August. But I'm stuck at home with illness and spending too much to cheer myself up which is my own silly fault!

Quirkyme · 29/06/2024 02:17

Towards mid- September! I'm excited!!

Rather spontaneous, saw Eurostar had a sale

Fluffyhoglets · 29/06/2024 02:18

My grown up child is home and has drunk too much when out tonight - so I'm listening to music on my headphones so I don't have to listen to him throwing up. Bit fed up as they should have learnt their limits by now - but never seems to!!

Quirkyme · 29/06/2024 02:19

@CalicoPusscat

I have no idea what I'm going to get up to haha. Saw Eurostar had a sale and it was too good not to book!

I've booked a hotel and I've seen a driving tour I like the look of. Going away in Sept too!

And it is not too late to be tight so you can go away in Sept haha, enjoy the treats you've bought and then get some more come Sept haha
