I can do what l want when l want.
Eat when l want and whatever l want.
Spend all my money how l like.
Spread out in the bed.
Watch what l want.
Go out / stay in.
Slob around.
Leave the dishwasher / washing... do things at my convince.
Have the furniture l like.
The decorating how l want.
The list is endless.
Good luck and enjoy.

I lived alone in my 30s when my flatmate moved out. I loved the peace and quiet and being able to live exactly how I pleased. Enjoy it mine was short lived as a friend got rats in her flat and moved about 3 mths after but I loved those 3 mths on my own (and that was before smart phones so once home I didn't really contact people).

Now living with a partner and teenagers I would love to have my own bathroom where there's no towels on the floor and endless half empty bottles of stuff!

LawlorsNaa · 26/06/2024 20:56

This is my dream, married 17 years and three teenagers. I love my own c6ompany.

Burgmuller · 26/06/2024 21:00

It’s the absolute best, I think you’ll love it OP. I can’t think of any downside to living alone, it’s utterly blissful.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 26/06/2024 21:07

Have everything in the house to your taste.
Eat what you like, when you like, where you like.
Listen to music you love
Toilet seat stays down
All your money is yours to do what you like with
Charger cables stay where you leave them
No boring visits to inlaws

You can walk around in your knickers.

You can walk around without wearing any knickers

CleanShirt · 26/06/2024 21:21

Glad I posted this, it's out a smile on my face!

I'm staying with a friend while my sale goes through and I was really annoyed at putting knickers on on this very hot day out of courtesy.

Your home stays cleaner for longer
You can watch, listen and fo whatever you please
You can eat whatever you fancy without having to cater to some else's appetite or likes/dislikes

I moved as the only adult 4 months ago & am alone several times a week & honestly decorating it how you want, going to bed when you want, watching your shoes, it’s blissful.

I’ve focused on decorating the house, sorting out the back garden & just relaxing.

I have a long term BF but we’re only a year on from separating out of family dynamics so we are taking it slow & appreciating the freedom.

just not answering to anyone is the best, star fishing the bed, going to bed at 9pm if I want, once you get used to being by yourself it’s wonderful.

Was JUST talking to a friend today about how nice it is to be able to Winnie-The-Pooh with no shame...

I might need this one explaining if you wouldn’t mind…what’s the connection or link?

Bananalanacake · 26/06/2024 21:47

I lived on my own in a studio flat in London for 8 years. Bloody loved it, doing whatever I wanted, staying up all night on Saturday listening to music and staying in bed until 4 pm on a Sunday. Those on the relationships board know I like to give boyfriends 5 years before any talk of living together, that's because I loved my own space so much, couldn't bear the thought of a man hanging around me all the time, snoring, farting, leaving stinky shits in the toilet. I would enjoy a few drinks and a shag then I'd kick them out the door.

arethereanyleftatall · 26/06/2024 21:49

I've remembered a slightly disappointing thing about it though...

When you are out with your girlfriends and they're all having a rant about their husbands 'so fed up of him not doing dishes' 'skid marks' 'farts' 'snores' 'golf' 'cycling' 'doesn't know teachers name' etc etc, you have to sit there bored and without being able to join in as you realise you have nothing negative to contribute in line with their stuff.

Just for clarity, obviously not disappointing...

No ones moods ruining your moods.

@MeAgainAndAgain I think it's that WTP only wears a top and no bottoms! 😂

Freedom, being able to rock in as and when with no time restrictions

KikiShaLeeBopDeBopBop · 26/06/2024 22:52

Starfishing

Appalonia · 26/06/2024 22:57

Not having to watch hours of boring sport. Having the bed to yourself. No-one complaining about the cat sleeping on the bed. No disrupted sleep due to someone loudly snoring next to you. No-one criticising what you want to watch on TV or the music you like. Not having to wear make-up or look good at home. Inviting friends round. Not having to put up with their dreadful friends or relatives. Eating whatever you want.

Peace.

Normallynumb · 26/06/2024 23:51

Being able to do anything you want at any time
Absolute Freedom

BatshitCrazyWoman · 27/06/2024 04:56

No sport on TV. At all. Ever. Bliss!

Plus what everyone else said.

Iamasentientoctopus · 27/06/2024 05:36

I’ve got two kids now but lived on my own in my twenties and I literally fantasise about that time I loved it so much. You can do what you like, eat what you like, go to bed when you like, your house will be exactly how you leave it, you only need to buy the things that you like, you can leave half a yogurt in the fridge and it will still be there when you get back. I could go on and on.
