Can you sleep uncovered?

I can't. Even in this heat I need to have a blanket of some sort. Not for warmth! But I need to feel covered, preferably with a bit of weight, so a sheet isn't enough for me.

Currently have a cotton counterpane over me.

Yep, I need something over me too so that the monsters can’t grab my feet as easily

Ditto. We all know the monsters can only get you when your out of the covers

EBearhug · 26/06/2024 01:35

I'm okay with the monsters. It's the bastard mosquitoes... I have a mossie net with my camping gear. Wrong size for a king size bed though. Yeah, so thin silk cover it is.

sprigatito · 26/06/2024 01:37

We now have a duvet and a thin eiderdown, so DH can boil himself to death under the duvet, the weirdo, and I can gingerly pull the eiderdown up to my shoulders and stick my feet out the end. If I'm visibly shivering in the morning he flips his side of the duvet over me. Works for us.

ForGreyKoala · 26/06/2024 02:56

No, or not for long. If I take the sheet off I then wake up cold so it's easier just to keep it on. I wish I had that problem at the moment - it's winter here!

HeraSyndulla · 26/06/2024 03:11

Yes I can. But I’ve always been like that, even as a teenager.

AquaFurball · 26/06/2024 03:13

GLC789 · 26/06/2024 00:45

No! Because the monster will grab my foot!! I have to have waist down covered!

From a 36yo actual adult 😂😂😂.

Waist down for me too for the same reason! Monsters can't grab feet or legs if they can't see them.

It's so real isn't it!!!

Oblomov24 · 26/06/2024 06:21

Yes I need something. I have both feet sticking out to regulate temperature, but I like to have duvet over my midriff.

Aparecium · 26/06/2024 06:54

Hmm, I'm not so weird after all. Didn't know it was about the monsters, though. Definitely mozzies - they eat me up - but a sheet will do for them. Monsters need something weightier.

I have a top sheet for hot weather. It has to go over my waist regardless of the heat. Just those few inches though.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 26/06/2024 07:05

I need something to cover me - just a vest top if no covers - or a thin sheet. Otherwise I find I wake up cold around 3-4am, the coldest part of the night.

DoublePeonies · 26/06/2024 07:05

Yes! Thank you folks. I'm not a freak like DH seems to think.
I absolutely need a cover - tho a sheet is fine. The ear that isn't in the pillow needs covering. Not so fussed about feet.

reluctantbrit · 26/06/2024 07:29

We have woolen duvets. Light but warm in winter and not hot in Summer.

I often go to bed early and read with nothing over me and then grab the duvet when I put the book away. By then I am adjusted to the temperature in the bedroom (full afternoon sun, warm even with the curtains closed) and can go to sleep.

LoobyDoop2 · 26/06/2024 07:46

No, I put a linen sheet between me and the duvet and if I get too warm I throw the duvet off. Linen is gorgeous to sleep under, really light when it’s hot and cosy when it’s cold.

Putyoursunscreenon · 26/06/2024 07:48

I can, thankfully- too hot for me otherwise

StasisMom · 26/06/2024 07:56

FictionalCharacter · 25/06/2024 23:01

I can’t. I’m using an empty duvet cover. But weirdly I don’t need my legs and feet covered, just my top half.

And me... I need to sleep with my mouth covered in case tarantulas pop in.

Tumbleweed101 · 26/06/2024 08:43

I like to cocoon the duvet around my shoulders and neck (sleep on tummy) so on warm nights I'll try to sleep with the cover lower down but it ends up in my preferred position in the night and I wake up boiling!

StarlightLady · 26/06/2024 08:50

When it’s hot, l sleep naked on top of the bed.

Deathbywhy · 26/06/2024 20:36

Bobbotgegrinch · 25/06/2024 23:37

I have to be covered, but "covered" can mean having one foot under the duvet, and the rest of me completely uncovered.

Which is fine, the monsters can only get you if you're completely uncovered.

Edited

This is brand new information!!! I don’t know if I’m brave enough to test your theory though😂

sixpiacksally · 26/06/2024 20:40

No glad to see am not the only one

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 26/06/2024 20:43

GeniusLevelJaffaCake · 25/06/2024 23:51

Yes. I can sleep naked and uncovered, which will probably freak out most of the people on this thread (although I hadn't considered the Daleks now being able to get upstairs 😖).

I'm glad there's two of us.

worcesterpear · 26/06/2024 20:45

No, I have to have at least some part of my body covered, usually one arm and one leg if it's hot, even just one leg under a sheet.

Ponderingwindow · 26/06/2024 20:53

I have a knitted style, cooling, weighted blanket for just this reason. The holes let in air, the material really is cooling, and the weight is a necessity

YewandOak · 26/06/2024 21:05

No.

But I have a wool duvet,it's perfect if it's -100 degrees C or like now when it's +100 degrees C.

It's magic,I tell you! Worth every penny!

Feministwoman · 26/06/2024 21:49

Cotton sheet as a minimum even in the hottest nights.
Cant sleep naked due to previous first marriage marital rape, so need a t shirt and knickers, at least
