I was listening to a pop star who was being interviewed and heard them tell some blatant lies about their background. They claimed to never have gone to drama school or had any industry connections and miraculously was scouted. I know this to be a complete lie. I was so surprised as to why they would lie this way. It makes no sense. It's been 20 years. No one cares that much so why lie... ? I guess they were trying to flog something so maybe it the 'struggle story' sells better

I said nothing that wasn’t factual. I never knew her but my good friend did and couldn’t stand her and that seems to be the opinion of many.

Thankfully that lovely fella in the soap was great and so many people echoed he was a really great person.

They may be playing a role but if that role is "poor little me" then I think it's a bit questionable.

I went to the same school as 3 women who were part of a clique that was very full of themselves and darlings of the drama department. Each have gone on to success although one more so than the others. I read an interview about how she had been bullied at school. She may have been disliked but that was because she and her friends acted like they were above everyone else. I never spoke to her or her friends but I knew people in their classes and it wasn't their recollection.

This is interesting. They claim they were bullied. You say they thought they were above everyone else and classmates disliked them because of it.

So they were excluded which is bullying.
Also sounds like people were jealous of their talents - a lot of bullying stems from jealousy.

A lot of talented people or highly intelligent people are bullied in school by bullies who accuse them of thinking they’re superior.

They kept to themselves - well why not? They were being bullied!!!

Thats what bullying is.

What you describe is the bully’s version of events.

Kemi Badenoch went to the same university as me at around the same time. She is quoted as saying that one of the reasons that she became a Tory/right wing was due to the over the top left-wing views at the university. However my memory and that of my friends is that it was considered funny that it had such a left-wing reputation left over from the sixties, when in reality it was so apolitical that the student union had to comb the campus offering to bribe students with beer to get them to attend and vote at meetings so that they could be quorate.

I went there in the late 70s/early 80s. Kemi would not have liked it. The Union was run by the Anarchist Society and anybody who admitted to voting Labour was called a fascist! I absolutely loved it.

There is a famous, and universally well-liked model, who married a pop star. Her older sister was a school friend of a university friend.
Famous model has never lied about her age, and is aging very gracefully indeed.

She is the antidote to all those celebrities who are “economical” with the truth!

I have family from different parts of Europe & my accent/language changes for a bit (briefly) if I'm speaking with them but this is bonkers! And then did she just stop one day?? She did (sort of) admit that she wasn’t actually Spanish not long after she got caught out but then not long after she was at it again. She didn’t seem particularly embarrassed when it came out that she’d been lying. I’d have gone and found myself a cave in some remote corner of the world, set up home there and you’d never have heard from me again. One of the funniest and most bizarre things I’ve ever seen was the clip of her doing some sort of cookery demonstration on TV. She was cutting a cucumber and said something along the lines of ‘erm, what’s the English word for this? Erm, cucumber?’. Totally bizarre 😂 I’ll post the link for a compilation of Hilaria Baldwin clips

Thing with the age though is it won't be that big a secret - if you're being employed and paid by someone they know how old you are. And likely more!
