What’s something your OH has done recently that has made you think “wow, they must really love me!”

We’ve just had a new kitchen. It’s been a stressful time. Used the new (expensive) oven for the first time last night and was disproportionately devastated to immediately get grease in between the glass door layers.

This afternoon my husband took it apart so he could clean the inside and put it all back together for me. He HATES any kind of DIY but there he was with a YouTube video and an instruction manual.

What’s something your partner has done recently that has made you think “wow they must really love me”?

Got up with the kids when ds woke at 5:20am this morning so I could get some more sleep. Your dh sounds great too.

Mishmashs · 23/06/2024 14:42

Not sure there is any stand out task but he loads and unloads the dishwasher, scoops the cat’s tray twice a day and does all the bins without complaint because he knows I hate those tasks!

DevilsKitchen · 23/06/2024 14:44

@bakewellbride 5:20! What a hero!

Calmly booked new flights at the airport when I’d made an arse of the 24hr clock and hadn’t left enough time to transfer in Rome. And he’ll never bring it up again.

I know and he's in pain from his recent vasectomy and should be resting but he insisted. I took the kids out for 3 hours to give him time to catch up with his rest but instead came back to the house hoovered and bins taken out. He is very efficient and I love him to pieces. He always tells me I'm beautiful too.

Loving the stories of people’s wonderful partners!

Don't live with my fiancé yet, but when he's at mine he'll load and unload the dishwasher, takes out the bins and recycling and organises and does diy projects. I also needed a new office chair and he sent me an email with the order confirmation as he had bought me the one I was looking at on line.

This is a small thing but I love having an ice cold coke when I get home from work. This week I finished the last one on Wednesday evening. Came home on Thursday and he had noticed and gone out on his lunch break to get me a coke and put it in the freezer an hour before I got home so it would be cold. What a keeper he is!

wizzywig · 23/06/2024 15:27

He makes dinner for me when I work late. May not be a lot or a grand gesture, but it makes me feel that he cares.

Cantalever · 23/06/2024 15:28

I have had a really stressful and upsetting week, and very anxious as to how a particular situation will work out. On Friday he brought home a box of chocolates, a bottle of prosecco and some pain au chocolats, just to cheer me up. Told me that this situation, that depends on how much of a tit other people are going to be, doesn't matter to them, so shouldn't matter to me either - and he is right. He is the best mate!

Eyesopenwideawake · 23/06/2024 15:30

He bought me a new measuring jug with black writing on as I couldn't see the measures on the old jug. #thatslove.

MaryMack · 23/06/2024 15:30

He irons my scrubs (I’m a nurse), he puts the bins out, always mends my bike punctures

GetOverYourselves · 23/06/2024 15:33

Has my dinner on the table when I get in from work.

Makes me a cup of tea every morning while I'm in the shower.

Wears an anti snore mask in bed.

Clears up after dinner so I can get out for a walk.

Takes the kids out to give me time in the house by myself.

Kovus · 23/06/2024 15:33

Evaporated clouds with their mind so I could bask in the sunshine.

WetBandits · 23/06/2024 15:33

Comes home occasionally with a new houseplant for me (even though he thinks I have too many) because he spots one he knows I’d love Smile

It’s just a little thing but I really love it when he does that.

DuchessofSaltmist · 23/06/2024 15:36

He ordered my scampi and chips without peas because he knows I can’t be bothered faffing with them and gave me the carrots from his dinner. 🤣

RosesAndHellebores · 23/06/2024 15:40

tells me he loves me before he goes to sleep every night, and tells me again when he wakes up.

we have been together for 35 years.

Scorchio84 · 23/06/2024 15:45

the can of Coke in the fridge on a Monday morning

Beautifulbythebay · 23/06/2024 15:47

Dh drove 2 hours to my favourite bakers for a lemon meringue pie. Sadly it wasn't ready so he got apple pie. The staff were very apologetic it wasn't ready!!

FourChimneys · 23/06/2024 16:14

I run my own business. DH does my tax return because he knows I hate it, and keeps on top of things through the year to make it easier.

He makes sure we never run out of my favourite foods.

He gets up before me on cold mornings to defrost and warm my car.

ginasevern · 23/06/2024 16:26

What a lovely thread. Makes you feel there is hope after all.

collywobble · 23/06/2024 16:42

I'm currently recovering from foot surgery and he's waited on me now for two weeks without complaining at all. I know I would be swearing under my breath at least ! Cooking a full roast dinner at the moment to try and get my appetite back. Cups of tea without asking and pillows adjusted to the right angle. He picked my daughter up at 7am from the airport which meant getting up at 5am because I couldn't do it. He's been amazing and I'd be lost without him.

RinklyRomaine · 23/06/2024 18:01

Both my littles have chicken pox and we've had a rough week. Woke up yesterday after a terrible night with a stomach bug. Heard him quietly talking to DSes outside the door about not screaming and letting me sleep by reminding them that mummy is always super gentle and kind to them while they have felt poorly and now it's time to show mummy the same love and be kind to me. He shows me he loves me in a thousand small ways but something about the soft voice reminded me how good he is.

TeaPleaseX · 23/06/2024 18:04

He always makes sure that my favourite snacks are in the house. Ice cold redbull etc. And he always makes me a tea and runs my bath for me and puts a bath bomb in too every evening.
He's really good tbh. Been together 15 years since we was 15 and it's only ever got better.
Hes also a very hands on dad which is my favourite thing about him.

WhatFlavourIsIt · 23/06/2024 18:15

He took my mum to the garden center today. She can walk around that place for hours and loves a cream tea in the cafe . It's always packed on a Sunday & my idea of hell. I'm going through 'the change' woke up today in a horrible mood & feeling like shit. He knew I'd promised to take her, so he took her instead so I could basically lounge around watching TV.
