What’s something your OH has done recently that has made you think “wow, they must really love me!”

We’ve just had a new kitchen. It’s been a stressful time. Used the new (expensive) oven for the first time last night and was disproportionately devastated to immediately get grease in between the glass door layers.

This afternoon my husband took it apart so he could clean the inside and put it all back together for me. He HATES any kind of DIY but there he was with a YouTube video and an instruction manual.

What’s something your partner has done recently that has made you think “wow they must really love me”?

Dh is always doing kind things for me but the most recent one was about half an hour ago, I'm in a lot of pain with plantar fasciitis and he ordered a massager which arrived today as a surprise and spent ages using it on my feet.
They're currently feeling all lovely and tingly.

My husband has a cold. I also have a cold. I am about a day behind him but its affected me worse. He has nipped out to Tesco to buy more paracetamol and a thermometer .

My temperature is is up.

He is a good egg, been married 29 years next month.

I know this is probably really small to some people. My dh is a fab dad and does housework without being asked . He is very tidy.
But the thing that recently made me think the daft sod must really love me is . Even though he has a weird phobia of other people's feet . Like they make him feel sick .We joke about his extreme reaction to feet. (Nothing wrong with mine FYI lol) .
But I have hurt my bad and can't do a lot of things easily at the minute till it heals. So this morning without me even mentioning anything he went and got my socks and carefully put them on my feet .
Daft but just made me feel so loved .

Evaporated clouds with their mind so I could bask in the sunshine.

This could be the best thing I’ve ever read on here 🙌🏻

I'm pregnant and have some nausea and also feeling exhausted. I had a nap earlier and woke up wanting a baked potato but it takes over an hour to do it the way I like so I knew it would be ages before I got to enjoy it.

I came down the stairs and DH had already popped one in the oven for me while I was asleep. He knew I'd want something to eat and he knew it would probably be a baked potato!

Honestly I have never felt so loved and understood! 🤩

LightDrizzle · 23/06/2024 18:36

These are so lovely. I’m struggling to think of anything recent that stands out. He’s often gone out to the supermarket at unsocial hours to get me chocolate though. He’s a good one.

Blueemeraldagain · 23/06/2024 18:39

I’m going to Girls Aloud tonight and rushed out of the house due to the overground not running. Realised I’d forgotten my engagement and wedding rings, called to ask him to put them somewhere safe and he ran round to the station in his car to give them to me. We’ve only been married 6 months so still feels extra special and very strange to be without them.

beckybarefoot · 23/06/2024 18:41

makes me a cup of tea and puts it beside my bed, knowing that sometimes i wont drink it.. but its there when i wake up no matter what

crochetandshit · 23/06/2024 18:44

He works shifts but whenever he's home when I get back from work, he stops what he's doing to greet me at the front door with a kiss and a hug. 20 years together ❤️

Ithoughtitwasyou · 23/06/2024 18:49

The other day DH brought me a dish of ice cream, and he had cut the wafers into a heart shape💗
We have been happily married for 46 years.

Bugbabe1970 · 23/06/2024 18:49

Makes me healthy food every day as I’m dieting
Spends the whole time playing with my grandson when we look after him and has just spent the whole weekend at my daughters house putting her sun house together while she is on holiday 🥰

Awrite · 23/06/2024 18:49

I bought a beautiful dress, tried it on and was gutted that it gaped under the arms. No matter, dh figured out how to alter it for me. He has fixed many an item of clothing for me. I am very grateful.

sallydoodlecat · 23/06/2024 18:52

I was dithering about buying a new hair dryer as it was an expensive Shark one. Supposed to be great for curly hair. Next thing I knew he'd just added it to his Amazon basket and bought it.

Baneofmyexistence · 23/06/2024 18:52

He always, always lets me have the last sweet or chocolate, even if I’ve offered it to him.

Highfivemum · 23/06/2024 18:55

Always fills my car with petrol when he thinks I am running low. Never lets me carry a bag, even if it means he is carrying 40 😳.
waits up for me if ever I am out, just in case he needs to pick me up if I get stuck etc. but the biggest for me was when we had just got married at 18 and he supported me in gaining custody of my 11 year old DB and bringing him up. My DH is fab

DevilsKitchen · 23/06/2024 18:59

These are all so lovely! How lucky we are to have such loving partners in our lives.

My dad runs my mum a bath every morning and when she gets downstairs there is a pot of tea and half a grapefruit peeled and arranged in the shape of a flower - 37 years married 🥹

Lots of things, all the time, he’s lovely! 🥰 But the most recent thing was helping me babysit my 7 month old nephew for three straight days.

My sister had an emergency and it was short notice, I agreed without checking with him and didn’t expect him to help but he took days off work and was so lovely and gentle and fun and cute with him.

He’s a big, burly, bearded brute and we got together after both having our kids so I’ve never really seen him with a baby before. Let me tell you - it did his sex appeal (Which was already sky-high) no harm at all!

Sparkle88K · 23/06/2024 19:08

He gets up at 5:30am with our 8 month old baby boy & cooks dinner for us both after work. I'd be lost without him!

mylifeisprettygood · 23/06/2024 19:12

My dh is just wonderful all the time. He is genuinely the most considerate human I have ever known. Nothing is ever too much trouble for him and he remembers every thing I say. So when I mentioned that I love sitting in the garden but the flies drive me potty he came home from the weekly shop with a fly swatter. Perfect. He's currently installing a big fuck off waterfall in the new pond he's building as he knows I love a water feature. He's perfection and I absolutely adore him.

iamawarriorwhojustcrieseasily · 23/06/2024 19:18

Currently picking up the slack in every area of our lives while i fuss over and deal with my DM who is end stage of a terminal illness. Then holding me while i sob at the end of most days.

I was at the hospital last week, he was in work, they wouldn't let me in to see her despite her being on a trolley on the other side of a glass door, i was in bits. And he just appeared! Had left work and just appeared by my side.

Valets my car every time i mess it all up!

Cooks every night for me and DS who eat very differently, and always has.

I could go on and on, I don't know what i did to deserve him.

JustRollWithIt · 23/06/2024 19:26

Aww I love this thread, so nice reading positivity and kindness in relationships on here for a change 🙌☺️

NotSentFromIphone · 23/06/2024 19:26

(I WFH full-time, DH is early retired for now but looking for a part-time job to keep him occupied)

Makes me coffee without fail every morning and keeps me in coffee throughout the day.

Randomly popping into the bakers to buy me a sticky bun or scone.

Makes my lunch everyday.

Does the lunch dishes everyday.

Makes dinner every evening (I help with the cleaning up and dishes!)

Always checks if I need to pee before he spends a ridiculous amount of time in the bathroom!

Before you start thinking I'm married to a saint, he's also a bloody messy bugger and has a vice like grip on the remote control.

Itsprobablynotcominhome · 23/06/2024 19:31

Such an amazing dad. Genuinely.

Does 90% of the housework.

Will do anything for anyone.

Todaypicard · 23/06/2024 19:32

So many things, but most recently - I worked a random night shift, and when I called to check in at 6am he had got up with our little one, and was already making a dinner so I could eat a proper meal before I went to sleep when I got home! Amazing - I adore him.
