What "type" of person drives you crazy?

ErikaReadsTheDailyMail · 17/06/2024 20:44

I was describing a woman at work to my DH earlier, and he said "oh I know that type, I work with a guy like that".

For context, this "type" of person (Erika in fact, hence the username):

Thinks Farrage has got a few good ideas actually, and he will definitely be getting her vote.

Doesn't think women should return to work full time after maternity leave because focussing on your career and not your children is just selfish.

Thinks that the people in boats should "go back to where they came from" and "stop taking our jobs" but "no wonder they come here, with all the free handouts we give them" (simultaneously, apparently)

Relishes in other people's unhappiness and uses it as some kind of horrible gossipy currency, ever terminal illness.

Has gleefully welcomed her (feckless) poor darling adult son back home after a messy divorce because his wife has treated him so terribly and he never should have married her in the first place. She's hoping he'll go for full custody of his daughter so that her former daughter in law can't poison her further (metaphorically, I assume).

I know I should be bigger, but she's just such a caricature of bigotry she really gets up my nose. She epitomises everything I dislike, all rolled into one person.

I wondered if anyone has one individual who really sums up everything they dislike? Bonus points if you name them!

People who put others down, moan all the time about things they do not understand and are miserable all the time.

MaisyMoo2022 · 18/06/2024 01:59

Anyone who speaks corporate woke shite.

Passiflora2 · 18/06/2024 02:01

People who ask my gender when it’s obvious.

coxesorangepippin · 18/06/2024 02:22

People who talk about themselves constantly

I don't care. I just don't.

People who are sycophants

Sharontheodopolodous · 18/06/2024 08:48

People who blame their twatiness on 'mental health'

I'm not talking about anyone with genuine mental health issues but I know someone who blames every single wrong thing she does on her 'mental health'

Doesn't show up to her shift?
'Don't bollock me-itll affect my mental health'

Gets something wrong?
'You can't tell me I got it wrong,my mental health can't take it'

Walked out of work mid shift?
'It's because manger had a go at me over something I did, that could have burnt the restaurant down-I need two weeks off as it's affected my mental health'
(This was followed by a few hours in a&e as she sprayed an aerosol on her arm and she sprayed it so close to her skin,it burnt)

Fancies a few weeks off?
'My boyfriend/mum/sister/friend and I had a row,it's affected my mental health so badly,I can't work for a fortnight-my gp sees me coming and just doles out sick notes' (this happens every couple of weeks)

She's now pregnant so it's been ramped up massively
'You can ask me to do my job!it'll affect my mental health!'
'I can't start work at 10am!it'll affect my mental health,I'll start at quarter past instead but you can pay me from 10am or I'll kick off about my mental health'

Before I take a kicking,I am genuinely sympathetic to mental health conditions,it's just this woman takes the piss-she knows that nobody can see mental health conditions and have to take her word for it that she's suffering

Compash · 18/06/2024 10:20

Huns who carry on with other women like we're all still jostling for social position in a teenage schoolyard...

People with a job title and that job title getting mentioned in every conversation..

As Senior Vice Office Manager with PA responsibilities and Cover Rota Design - I find that most silly .. and in my role as Senior Vice Office Manager with PA responsibilities and Cover Rota Design comments like this would get you an interview with HR.

;P

Loud, brash and 'look at me' people, who can't have their photo taken without making a silly face. Just why?!

The silly photo face people are insecure basically.

Has anyone ever encountered a 'been there, done that, tried it' type.person?

Whatever anyone says they've already done it.
They've already tried it. Already thought of it. Already been there.

Jack Monroe was very much like..

"Oh Jack you should try mixing Lemon and toothpaste in your lasagna"
"I tried that and it was great."

No you fucking never..

"Ok jack, I rinsed hoops and beans and blended them with cabbage and sprouts and made a dish i call Fake Hummus"
"I did that last week and it might be in the next book"

No you fackin didn't.

So on and so on.

try "Oh Jack, why don't you open a Patreon, deliver nothing you said you would, and keep the money when they ask for refunds - and the doxx anyone who calls you out!" - she'll deny that one LOL

Compulsive wisecrackers. Especially middle aged men who pepper their conversation with wisecracks, puns and innuendo while chortling at their own utter hilariousness. Grim. Will cross road to avoid.

Don't trip over the chicken on your way across!! chortle chortle

Sunnysideup999 · 18/06/2024 10:30

Narcissists
bad/ aggressive drivers
ham faced middle aged men who endlessly talk about themselves with zero awareness of how boring they are
cyclists (very few exceptions)
ski bores
know it alls / smugs

Mimilamore · 18/06/2024 10:35

Patronising boomers who assume that as you are in the same age group share their opinions and values... no way!!

ScorpioTales · 18/06/2024 10:35

Anyone who says “I tell it like it is”.

”life coaches” in their 20’s (often vegans with long hair who wear hats indoors)

Anyone who describes themselves as spiritual and insists on telling others how spiritual they are.

SpringerFall · 18/06/2024 10:41

Anyone who uses weird food words

'I am not going to make a lasagne so here is a deconstruncted lasagne' puts down an apple crumble

Or someone other weird food thing

LordSnot · 18/06/2024 10:43

Karen with the Wonder Child. He's 23 now but still her PFB and the office has to hear about every accomplishment and compliment he gets. He sounds like a spoiled little shit but she'd probably staple your eyeball to the wall if you said that.

The "I tell it like it is, I don't sugar coat it" type. They are absolute arseholes in reality, but gloss it up as a personality trait and justify outright bullying as being brutally honest and to the point. Usually strident on Facebook, talking about people doing them wrong and their latest argument with someone.

The above and their close cousin who doesn't suffer fools gladly.

Never met someone I liked who was described thus. Invariably a nasty judgy bully with a high opinion of themselve.

ffsgloria · 18/06/2024 10:47

Entitled, misogynistic, mansplainers masquerading as charming, salt of the earth geezers.

Sunshineonasameyday · 18/06/2024 10:48

Fudgetheparrot · 17/06/2024 21:18

Any variation of “I’m just honest me, I tell it like it is”

To counter this I don't get on with people who can't be direct and address a problem head on. It just creates more problems.

MzHz · 18/06/2024 10:51

Gingernaut · 17/06/2024 21:20

The ones that give a running commentary on everything they're doing and things happening around them

Bus is late - I know, I'm standing beside you in the queue

Kettle is boiling - I can hear

I'm typing now - I'm literally sitting beside you, watching you hunt and peck

hunt and peck has me chuckling :D

I find the conversations of people in airports totally draining. I hope to god I don't sound like that if I am travelling with my OH

Luckily i am mostly travelling alone for work so don't have the option to drone on about mind-numbing minutiae

ffsgloria · 18/06/2024 10:52

Also - niche but earlier today I was accosted as I was getting out of my ancient car, by an apparent used car dealer, demanding to know "how much I want for it", "what's the mileage". I'm not selling it! Just leave me alone, wow.

Thulpelly · 18/06/2024 10:52

Passive aggressive, middle class but insecure - terrified of being identified as anything less, snobby and judgemental of anything outside their bubble, repressed.

Dp worked with her (please god, don't let there be more than one of her)

I thought he was joking until I met her (I got stuck with her at his Christmas party)

Every sodding sentence was 'josh says, josh does, josh thinks, josh knows, josh did...'

Never met the poor kid,but I certainly know everything there was to know about him
