What "type" of person drives you crazy?

ErikaReadsTheDailyMail · 17/06/2024 20:44

I was describing a woman at work to my DH earlier, and he said "oh I know that type, I work with a guy like that".

For context, this "type" of person (Erika in fact, hence the username):

Thinks Farrage has got a few good ideas actually, and he will definitely be getting her vote.

Doesn't think women should return to work full time after maternity leave because focussing on your career and not your children is just selfish.

Thinks that the people in boats should "go back to where they came from" and "stop taking our jobs" but "no wonder they come here, with all the free handouts we give them" (simultaneously, apparently)

Relishes in other people's unhappiness and uses it as some kind of horrible gossipy currency, ever terminal illness.

Has gleefully welcomed her (feckless) poor darling adult son back home after a messy divorce because his wife has treated him so terribly and he never should have married her in the first place. She's hoping he'll go for full custody of his daughter so that her former daughter in law can't poison her further (metaphorically, I assume).

I know I should be bigger, but she's just such a caricature of bigotry she really gets up my nose. She epitomises everything I dislike, all rolled into one person.

I wondered if anyone has one individual who really sums up everything they dislike? Bonus points if you name them!

More. This feels very good getting it all off my chest!
People who ignore warning signs or think they know better. Well, 11 deer dead so far on the mile long stretch of road through the reserve because they didn't feel it was necessary to slow down like the giant sign asks them to. 5 sheep dead so far this year having been chased over the cliff by off lead dogs despite multiple signs about grazing livestock and dogs on short leads only.
people who let their dogs off lead in dogs on lead areas because they are entitled CFs and their dog is "so well behaved" despite the fact they are leaping all over my on lead, traumatised rescue who then won't leave the house for a week and shakes every time I pick up the lead for 2 weeks until they finally start to feel safe. Until the next time.
People who don't pay attention or parent their children and allow them to run riot in public spaces. I pulled a child out of the path of oncoming traffic yesterday whilst her mum was several yards ahead on her phone not paying the least attention, and last month had to stop another who was attempting to kick down my fence while his parents were socialising with their mates.

The Tenerife, Elvenerife types.

Perfect example here.... I go to a MH support group. A new lady came, and said how difficult it had been to come as she had not left the house for 4 days. One member pipes up with "oh, I did not leave the house for 3 years, and when I did, I ended up in hospital for 5 weeks". New lady left the group feeling awful, and did put in an official complaint.

Women who act all pink and pathetic. Tell them you've fixed a plug and it's shock horror, I'd burn the house down, giggle at how girly I am.

I love the Arabella Weir version of her!

Ds2 has the ' problem for every solution ' attitude. Drives me mad ( but I tend to be negative at times , so maybe it's just rubbed off on him !)

PantomimeFame · 20/06/2024 12:13

People who are always posting photos of their pets on social media to random strangers. So tiresome

In my opinion it’s just another form of bragging.

CantDecideAUsename · 20/06/2024 13:09

People who see themselves as activists for every social injustice without actually knowing anything about it. Usually it’s just for attention, they come across completely patronising and spew such utter rubbish that it does more harm than good.

We have a woman like this in our town. She sees herself as the moral guardian of the area. Half the time it's rubbish. She had a great rant about how nobody was safe because of the migrants living in a hotel - there weren't any!

BogRollBOGOF · 20/06/2024 14:38

Owners of "furbabies" or "friendly" dogs. It's a dog. Train it and treat it as a dog. Accept that no one else is responsible for it or obliged to care about it (beyond basic respect for animal welfare). Pay attention to your surroundings, and look out for others that are being inconvenienced from going about their business or scared.

However I like responsible dog owners who clean up after them, train their animal not to be a public nuisence, and have a good awareness of their surroundings.

If you've done anything , they have done it better.

Is that a type of person or just a person with current right wing political views? I view a type as more a personality type; dizzy, controlling etc etc

"Willy wavers" - mediocre white men who get far because they wear a suit and possibly a fancy watch, drive a fancy car and just walk around all tall and arrogant. The sort who got Bs and Cs for their GCSEs and don't know how to use an apostrophe. They usually have a job title that sounds fancy but doesn't actually require any qualifications. Eg "Property Consultant" or "Finance Executive". (As opposed to say, Solicitor or Accountant) I run into them both professionally and personally. All style, no substance.

Is this just unique to white men?

Trickofthetrade · 21/06/2024 10:57

Fuckers who sit on trains watching or listening to their phones without headphones . Or kids on ipada without headphones in public places . The height of ignorance.

I had this all the way from York to Aberdeen last week. Continual phone calls interspersed with colourful language - I'm not a prude, but it did get rather tedious. The ;lowlight - 2 very loud burps then a fart/

Saltnvinegarnsauce · 25/06/2024 12:27

People who treat their pets like they are children, especially when they join in parents conversations using their pets as an example.

Anyone using the term crotch goblins.

People who go on and on about something you have no interest in and can't take a hint when you want to end the conversation.

the80sweregreat · 25/06/2024 15:57

What type of person ..
Most people tbh ! 😂

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 25/06/2024 16:48

People who make a big drama of going to a one off social event never stopping to appreciate that someone was nice enough to ask or that it might make someone happy to say yes. Like moaning about a Christmas party or wedding. No one cares, go, don't go, whatever, just get over yourself.

People who cut across others.

Anyone who boasts about exercise achievements.

Fussy people, fussing about food or where we meet or the weather etc. Difficult to please.

Bjbbjb · 25/06/2024 18:46

People who drive on the motorway without paying attention and move into your path at the last second to avoid having to do something that will inconvenience them and their dolly day dreaming.

Why yes, I should have to react to accommodate you so you don't have to react to accommodate anyone else.

Pretty much !

candyisdandybutliquorisquicker · 26/06/2024 13:22

People who think that people who don't wash their hands every 8 minutes are midden-dwelling slatterns 😄

flipflopsandsun · 26/06/2024 13:32

People who (work colleague) act like bitches, snapping/belittling/nasty tone of voice and then decide (normally when they want something) can go back to talking to you with respect.. no apology in between and you're supposed to just go along with it.

People who accuse you of all their worst faults. People who expect to act and say whatever they want with no consequences but are hypercritical of everyone else.

👏👏👏
