What "type" of person drives you crazy?

ErikaReadsTheDailyMail · 17/06/2024 20:44

I was describing a woman at work to my DH earlier, and he said "oh I know that type, I work with a guy like that".

For context, this "type" of person (Erika in fact, hence the username):

Thinks Farrage has got a few good ideas actually, and he will definitely be getting her vote.

Doesn't think women should return to work full time after maternity leave because focussing on your career and not your children is just selfish.

Thinks that the people in boats should "go back to where they came from" and "stop taking our jobs" but "no wonder they come here, with all the free handouts we give them" (simultaneously, apparently)

Relishes in other people's unhappiness and uses it as some kind of horrible gossipy currency, ever terminal illness.

Has gleefully welcomed her (feckless) poor darling adult son back home after a messy divorce because his wife has treated him so terribly and he never should have married her in the first place. She's hoping he'll go for full custody of his daughter so that her former daughter in law can't poison her further (metaphorically, I assume).

I know I should be bigger, but she's just such a caricature of bigotry she really gets up my nose. She epitomises everything I dislike, all rolled into one person.

I wondered if anyone has one individual who really sums up everything they dislike? Bonus points if you name them!

Mean girl office clique women

Men who insist "I'm a nice guy" (doubt it)

People who dont wash / brush teeth before leaving the house then get on crowded trains and subject everyone to their eau de funk

Juice plus / herbal life etc sellers

"influencers"

ThursdaysMonkey · 17/06/2024 22:28

@Persianpuss my boss is cut from the same cloth I think- she asked me a few days ago if I was sure I knew how to use double sided sellotape.

daffodilandtulip · 17/06/2024 22:29

Women who act all pink and pathetic. Tell them you've fixed a plug and it's shock horror, I'd burn the house down, giggle at how girly I am.

TellySavalashairbrush · 17/06/2024 22:30

Work colleagues who wax lyrical about the weekly church services they attend and whose answer to any issue in work is that they will ‘pray to the lord for support’ but who also treat their fellow colleagues like total crap most of the time, lack empathy for everyone and believe they are redeemed just by attending church every Sunday.

Those who, although English is their first language, seem incapable of speaking it without dropping aitches, constantly using glottal stops, double negatives and inserting 'like' into every sentence, as in "I was like..."

Those who are 'loud' and constant talkers.

Those who drink too much alcohol and think being drunk is funny, clever or aspirational.

Sports bores - especially football.

I'm with you on all of those.

Doughdog · 17/06/2024 22:33

People who arrive in A&E with foreign objects shoved in their rectums.

And people who describe themselves as a 'bit mad' or worse, 'zany.'

Trickofthetrade · 17/06/2024 22:33

Selfish bastards, for example....I was sitting in a carpark waiting for my daughter this evening for about half an hour..it was hot , had all the windows down..up drives this woman blasting loud music . Parks opposite me and leaves engine running so she could have her aircon on . I then had to breathe in her bloody filthy engine air. Selfish cow. She was totally oblivious. Then another guy parked up and did the same. I bloody hate this. Entitled Selfish wench.

ladybee2 · 17/06/2024 22:34

Loud, brash and 'look at me' people, who can't have their photo taken without making a silly face. Just why?!

Pigeonqueen · 17/06/2024 22:38

That first one is weirdly specific 🤣

Pigeonqueen · 17/06/2024 22:39

Lots of things about people piss me off to be fair. I’m very introverted and very intolerant, especially as I’m getting older. Loud people are my pet hate really. Just the general volume. Talking loudly, laughing loudly, breathing loudly. Fuck off.

ToxicChristmas · 17/06/2024 22:39

The "I tell it like it is, I don't sugar coat it" type. They are absolute arseholes in reality, but gloss it up as a personality trait and justify outright bullying as being brutally honest and to the point. Usually strident on Facebook, talking about people doing them wrong and their latest argument with someone.

flowertoday · 17/06/2024 22:39

I can tolerate most people.
Narcissists frighten me. So manipulative and dangerous, they can do more damage than any other kind of person.
I used to be very sympathetic to new age woo types. Now not so much as sadly they are not all nice ( although many are ). The crystals 🔮 and yoga don't always work for everyone .

Cupboardsarefull · 17/06/2024 22:39

People who speak with a rising intonation and question at the end of each sentence. Drives me mad.

Echobelly · 17/06/2024 22:41

People who are relentlessly negative, and you can tell in part it's because they think it makes them seem deep and clever as they think that being happy or enjoying stuff is shallow or stupid. Exhausting and draining.

Sadtosaythis · 17/06/2024 22:41

Racist people

People who make comments about other people’s children (particularly in a sporting performance context).

People who show off about things, brag or constantly have to do one better.

Negative people who always think about problems and not solutions.

Sexist people.

Bullies.

Gossips.

Passiflora2 · 17/06/2024 22:41

Attention seekers.
This includes people who photograph themselves posing, their food, their holidays (plastered all over social media), their super intelligent, high achieving children. Their top of the range car.

People who talk very loudly because they assume everyone wants to hear what they have to say. People who have strong opinions on everything and assume they know more than anyone else.
Rude, obnoxious people who don't consider anyone else's needs or feelings.
Very religious people who attempt to force their beliefs on everyone else, and talk about them constantly.
Drunk , rude, swearing people taking up space and drowning everyone else out.
People who wear overly tight clothes stretched over their numerous tattoos, wearing long false nails, false eyelashes and spray tan.
People who shout at their kids in public and humiliate them. People who allow their kids to run riot and behave like wild animals without any attempt to control them.
Lack of manners
Lazy call centre staff who can't be arsed and dont know their job. Lazy staff generally who can't be arsed and don't know their job.

LunaNorth · 17/06/2024 22:43

Natural Women™️ do my head in as well. The ones who moan about their menopause symptoms, but bat away any suggestions of HRT as if to get medical help is a sign of weakness.

Shut up or patch up, Rachel.

I can't stand people with no social awareness

flipflopsandsun · 17/06/2024 22:45

People who are rude and bitchy one minute and then when they want to be friendly they expect you to completely ignore the fact that 5 mins ago they were talking to everyone like shit.

Chardonnay73 · 17/06/2024 22:48

Uber Mums.
The sort that live for their children,
Class WhatsApp moderator
Busybodies that need to know everything about everything that happens in school,.
Urgh. I’m a fully functioning person that happens to have had children .
I don’t need to join in with the gossip and competitive culture that is the hell of the school gate to the exclusion of anything else 😡

JanglingJack · 17/06/2024 22:48

People like my ex manager, who found it hilarious to show us (us being me and our senior manager) a meme of a golliwig to say - is it safe to come out now? Post Brexit.

Put in a complaint, senior manager denied even seeing it and there I was not needed any more due to Covid.
100% white staff.

If you need to store anything. Don't go to the garish green and purple one.

cavernclub · 17/06/2024 22:49

People who think know they better than me how to do my job, accompanied with unsolicited advice and rudeness. I'm very experienced/ I don't need your "assistance"

JanglingJack · 17/06/2024 22:51

Two faced people.

I see your faces and raise. All in. Fuck off. No messing.

Passiflora2 · 17/06/2024 22:52

People who think it's a badge of honour to be as PC as they can possibly be. Like a woman I met recently who sneered at Friends because it's 'heteronormative'. Or people who loathe JKR because they think she hates trans people.

LadyChilli · 17/06/2024 22:54

"I'm not a girly girl/get on better with men."

Me neither pal. I also don't much fancy the 20% pay deficit, uncomfortable clothes, requirement to keep my mouth shut and pander to everyone else's sensitivities that go with being a traditional "girl". How about advocating for other woman instead of separating yourself out from them?
