Anyone tried / bought a ‘walking pad’?

Has anyone used one of these ‘under desk’ walking pads? Basically a smaller treadmill that you can use at your desk / at home and it then slides away under the sofa / bed etc..

I need to up my daily steps and going out walking this time of year isn’t always doable for me due to a dreadful pollen allergy🤧😬

I'm tempted to get one too! I was going to ask the same thing.

I love mine. No one can tell I'm using it when I'm on a call (telephone) cause it's quiet

Used it a lot at first, now gathering dust

I love mine! I keep it under the sofa for at night when I would normally sit and watch tv, now I walk while I watch it. Mine is a king smith one I think the brand is and it is really quiet and can go up to 6 miles an hour. It also folds in half and so is tiny! Really great investment (for me anyway)

Yes I love it, I use it everyday, I alternate between the walking pad and a wobble board.

Ohh thanks everyone! Sounds really promising for some of you? Have you managed to up your step game by quite a lot?

Amazing - which brand is your pad? Would you recommend that one?

Off to Google ‘wobble board’…

Ohh I’ve been wondering about the fold in half ones as they take up less space🤔

That’s great! I am wondering if I can get away with it when working too. Which brand do you have?

I've just bought one and I love it. I got a cheap one from eBay that was refurbished. It fits under my sofa. I don't think I'd manage to get 10k steps on it but as I work from home it's great for me to go for a walk outside and then finish my 10k using it. Or when the weather is REALLY bad I'll jump it for my lunch break and then a while after work. I don't think I'd manage to work while on it as I do need to concentrate and then once I'm off I feel a bit ill, like travel sick so that takes me a while to get over too! But, I'm really glad I got it.

Hmm I’ve been wondering about the travel sick feeling! I might try and use the travel wristbands🤔

Ive worked out if you reduced the speed right to the slowest and walk that for a minute or so it helps. And I'm definitely getting more used to it but the key is not to stop right away, slow it right down .

hollyblueivy · 19/06/2024 20:04

I bought a standing desk that I never stand up at.

orpmoa · 19/06/2024 20:09

I bought one but not got a lot of use out of it yet, I suspect it will come into its own in winter more! Slightly louder than I thought it would be at higher speeds so I do worry about my downstairs neighbour (live in a flat). But bought it for under my electric desk so not walking fast while working. Going to try to use it a bit more. They are quite heavy adn take up quite a bit of space but you can put them under the sofa as they have wheels on them. But often I can't be bothered and just leave it out.

Thanks everyone. I’m still pondering and will wait till payday to decide (next week!)

I love mine. I can’t “work” using it as I need to type/present etc, but for meetings which are just listening/asking questions it is perfect. It’s not too heavy, so I just slide it off to the side when not in use. I also have a standing desk, but I find it hard to stand, and much easier to walk
