Who can eat that many chips?

Fish and chips... I bought three packets of chips between four of us and they were so massive we only managed one and a half. And DH loves his chips and has a big appetite. Who on earth can actually eat a whole packet of chips in addition to their fish?

On the rare occasion we have fish and chips, I order one small portion of chips to share. It's plenty for two of us.

i usually have a medium size bag of chips, but if added fish then i can only just manage them

Eating proper chip shop chips makes me hungry, even if I'm not hungry before I start. It's very odd. I think it does something peculiar to my blood sugars. I don't usually eat chips (or much processed food in general) so don't normally feel like that. It's distinctly odd.

No they are a huge portion. We usually share one bag between me and OH. No way I could eat a full bag and I love a chippie.

Meeeee! I don’t often have chips but love getting them freshly cooked on a day when I’m wfh, it’s been too busy for lunch and I am absolutely starving.

I am absolutely rubbish with chips. My eyes are always bigger than stomach. I can’t eat fat chips at all, and skinny fries I can manage maybe 6. I want to eat them, but I get full so quickly. So annoying.

Me too! A giant bag of them because I definitely can easily manage large portions. Wish I hadn't seen this thread just before bed because it's made me hungry.

Norn Iron here so you order a fish you get a scoop of chips ( no extra charge ) and tbh, unless you have starved all day, it really is enough

Order a fish supper and its two fish and a largish chip

Im not a "genteel" feeder when it comes to a chippy - more of a gorb tbh - but me and DH can easily share a sausage or fish supper and be totally stuffed to the gills

They're huge! We don't have F and C very often but usually buy a large cod each and one portion of chips between 4.

I don’t eat fish but have no problem eating a full portion of chips with sides. My family/friends can eat a similar amount. If they can’t, they don’t make a big deal out of it and need to tell anyone. Only my mother and aunt did that and they have eating disorders.

We get 1 large portion between the 3 of us, still plenty to go around!!

I leave the tiny crispy end pieces so in that sense I never finish a portion, however I can put away a good amount before that

This is what oven chips are for 😂 No, you're right, they aren't remotely the same thing as chippy chips. But they really, really are useful for the midnight munchies!

If you have an airfryer they do a Stirling job on leftover chippy food. It's very rare I eat them as my husband is veggie and most chippies here use dripping (plus he actually doesn't like them) so it's a rare treat for me (but incredible when I do get them 😋).

Depends where you go. I got a large chips the other day for 2 adults and 3 children, had leftovers.

If I bought a portion of cod and chips in my local I'd need another side and still be hungry later.

Good call. Last night in Suffolk...that's about 1/3 of a portion of large chips with my medium cod.
