Which shade of grey for living room walls please

My room needs a makeover - it’s got natural sunlight most of the day.

the couch is grey and my accent colours are forest green.

i don’t want it looking to clinical, nor do i want it too dark.

oh, and the floor is laminate - a kind of light oak.

Please can you suggest colours that you’ve tried and liked - ideally dulux, but I’m open to others.

Pink

OliveTheaBough · 15/06/2024 22:06

Really? Pink seems a little intense

We've just painted our bedroom in Dulux Rock Salt. It's a lovely warm, subtle grey.

I think grey walls are quite depressing, even if it's on a subconscious level.

Pink and green go really well together. I wouldn't have a grey couch and grey walls, that would look so dull.

Not grey. Anything but grey. It is very overdone.

Pink or pale terracotta would work with green.

OliveTheaBough · 15/06/2024 23:33

What abo it a warm cream in the walls, grey couch (this is what I have) and forest green accents?

Dulux gentle fawn is nice, it's like a warm beige.

ABG - Anything But Grey. Please, please, please.
Drab, depressing - a non-colour.

CJ0374 · 15/06/2024 23:40

Grey on grey? Really? 😬 I'm far from any home designer, but currently going through renovations. I thought the peak 'grey' period was 10yrs ago! Can you cover the sofa with another colour? Given you have forest green already, what about a very pale green for the walls or off white/calico colour?

bravefox · 15/06/2024 23:40

+1 for no more grey

Sasqwatch · 15/06/2024 23:41

50

Not exactly grey but I recommend - Egyptian Cotton, Skimming stone. Slaked lime.

Xyz1234567 · 15/06/2024 23:56

Paler shade of green or pale pink.

Dulux Polished Pebble

Anything but grey

If OP wants grey then rock salt is nice as someone said above and it's very subtle

People bang on about it being depressing but I find it calming. Plus it's my home to live in and given I'm not selling it doesn't matter!

There's a difference between crushed velvet, mirror furniture and live laugh love signs vs using grey on the walls as a base calm colour and adding colour and texture elsewhere in the rooms

JumpstartMondays · 16/06/2024 00:52

Grey is the colour to choose when you can't be bothered to choose a colour 🤭 (this is what our decorator told us when we showed him our colour choice, along with "thank god it's not grey!")

Terracotta would look lovely I think, a light one

cryinglaughing · 16/06/2024 06:24

Sulky pink.
Not grey!

Meadowfinch · 16/06/2024 06:26

Soft sage green & white.

Or pink.

Anything except grey

IggyAce · 16/06/2024 06:29

Dulux rock salt is a very pale grey can look white in some lights. Or Dulux chic shadow if you want a true grey with no blue undertone.

Bluevelvetsofa · 16/06/2024 09:11

So do I! I can't bear grey, it's so dreary and just drags down the mood, imo. There's no grey anywhere in my home.

troppibambini6 · 16/06/2024 09:22

Do you like this? (Sorry the dog jumps in everytime I'm taking a photo) I think it would nice with green accents. Obviously my sofa is grey like yours the paint is natural hessian by dulux.
